grew up idolizing rappers like Naledge, Lupe Fiasco & Charles Hamilton so it was never about the fame or imagery for me it was the actual amount of creativity, talent and wisdom that they showcased. These guys let so much honesty just bleed through their work.
These rappers had me wanting to go to an Ivy League College just so I could could flex my knowledge while wearing a fresh ass polo.

This generation has the worst rappers to look up to. Even though Eminem and 50 Cent had violent/aggressive music growing up they still had songs like Lose Yourself and Many Men that inspired you to rise above adversity. Most of these rappers I have no idea what they struggle with because all they talk about is being high, having sex with woman, and buying expensive things. I don’t know their life story and about their hardships I only know about their success and I think thats dangerous.
I disagree i think people just don't look deep enough. The talent and topics are there you just have to search for it. I agree with you to some extent however since most mainstream rappers can be met with that problem

i been thinking about this for a good mind. not just in regards to rapper/celebrities but people in general. once you get to know someone and pick their brain you realize they aren’t this amazing, unique person you thought them ought to be. which isn’t a bad thing at all but it gets you disappointed when what you fantasized about said person ends up being shot down when reality sets in and you now realize they are just like any other person, with different morals, ideas, lifestyles, personalities, etc. all in all just get to know people before you place in them such high regards. and when it comes to rappers or celebrities, obviously its much more extraneous to try and meet them but try not to place them on a high pedestal and learn to realize that at the end of the day they are just like any other human.

When you create unrealistic expectations, you set yourself up for failure every time. I think some see their favorite rapper as the epitome of a person living the perfect life..... not knowing that their favorite rapper may not be enjoying his or her life.

I’ve finally been waiting for someone to say this, I could never idolize a musician as like a huge part of my life. I take inspiration from a lot, like I’ve recently moved a bit from hip hop to some more guitar based stuff and I slowly just move from learning music from one guitarist to another but I never idolize them and think they are above me. We all in this shit together, they just making a living off of what they are good at, or in some cases, what they just want to do
