It never adds up when I see artists my level posting their new song having 20K streams, but having 100 monthly listeners & the rest of their songs never touching 1,000. Or having thousands of streams on Spotify, but all their social media accounts in the hundreds, with no engagement.
Spotify is an unreliable way of tracking how big artists are. As Russ says these streams don’t convert into ticket sales which is what matters more. I’ve played shows with people saying their new song is on 100K, yet they bought one person to their show & they’re supporting me on the night.

Its why artists like Drake, Kendrick, J Cole, are so rich and these new artists aren’t got any money.
