    I've been woodworking most of my life, since childhood in my dad's shop. As an adult I have been actively playing with wood for about 50 years, now age 76. Thank you for a very informative and leisurely stroll through some of Temu's offerings. My wife has been shopping on Temu for a few weeks now for things she has been interested in. I may have to check out their tool line, although I already have a boatload of tools in my shop. Blessings, Glen

    Drill stops: Temu stops feature the set screw driving itself into the drill bit itself. The set you showed from Amazon were split stops, where a slit is cut into the stop body, and the locking screw actually closes the inner diameter of the stop around the body of the drill. This style is infinitely more sturdy and stable, and in my 30+ years of experience well worth the added expense.

    Thank you for demonstrating the side by side tool comparison. I’ve been in woodworking for about 35 years and have learned that there are many variations on the same tool. Some shuttle and some glaring differences but when used carefully, a good outcome can happen.
    You’ve peeked my interest in the price ranges for literally the same thing, so as always ~ do your research before buying.keep the videos coming!

    It's crazy how the prices are compared. It's the same thing as going to a hardware store looking at 4 hammers all the same features but different colors per manufacturer all made from the same company but ranges from 8 to 20 dollars a hammer just for the color and brand decal. Either Amazon has bamboozled us on the prices or Temu plays that long term foreign corporation take over strategy. Sell it cheap for almost no profits to cut out competition. Once your competition is out with no other contenders they jack the prices up. Or Temu is really exposing the secrets of how cheap things cost to make and our high inflation.

    • @thebunkerwoodworks
      @thebunkerwoodworks  Год назад +1

      Fun.Guy.Forager, Thanks for taking time to watch our video. We greatly appreciate your support. Regarding Amazon and TEMU, it's hard to say what's going on. Amazon still has a few things going for it such as: it has many independent sellers who do provide things that TEMU doesn't, there are people who refuse to buy directly from China (TEMU), and there may be a huge group of people who either haven't heard of or looked into TEMU or don't realize that some products are the same (even down to the crazy letters you find on some of items you buy from either). We're pretty sure there are many theories out there, but we're just here to show differences in prices for those who may be interested in woodworking or are woodworkers already and can get deals on items that they may be able to use. Thanks again for watching!

Since it was my first time using the stock guides, I felt the need to guide it better with my hand along with the push rod. Although, I do have to be very careful. We’re excited that you’ll be woodworking soon, and we hope we continue to hear from you in the future. I've been hesitant to order anything on temu, but may have to give it a shot some time. From Wisconsin, USA. I've always had an interest in woodworking, but just decided to go hard a little over a year ago. Built a tiny workshop 8x12 and bought up way more tools than I should have before even making anything. I'm just now starting to make some things on my few days off work. So far I've had great results and happy people who received a nice gift.

    • @thebunkerwoodworks
      @thebunkerwoodworks  Год назад +3

      Hi Nathan, I'm Johnny! Your story sounds very similar to mine. I also went as far as my budget allowed & I started acquiring all kinds of tools about 1 year ago. Looking back, I think I might have gone a bit too far, lol, because I have so many tools that I haven't even used or needed so far. Before I began buying tools, I did have a miter saw, drills, circular saw, scroll saw & a jigsaw in storage but I went crazy & purchased so many other power tools, both big & small. Since we lived in an apartment, there was no space for me to woodwork but 8 months ago, we purchased a home with a one car garage so I was finally able to move all of my new & existing tools out of storage & into my garage, aka, The Bunker. Despite having about 8 years of wood flooring installation experience, I haven't built very many projects myself but I have grown my woodworking knowledge significantly by reading countless books, magazines & articles as well as watching over 5 years of woodworking content on RUclips. I'm very confident about my basic woodworking skills but I do realize that I have so much yet to learn as far as my hands on experience is concerned. Although, my passion for woodworking is very strong & I really enjoy learning all I can about woodworking. My wife & I are extremely excited to share our knowledge & journey with you as well as be a part of yours. We hope that we can share our knowledge with each other so we can grow together as woodworkers. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying woodworking & we hope to hear from you again in the future! Thanks for watching! -Johnny

      As Johnny has demonstrated, do plenty of research before “add to cart”. I’ve been buying from TEMU for a while and have been impressed with their quality. It just goes to show you there are many sellers of the same thing - only their name changes. The Chinese market is ripe with knock-offs of a good idea.

    I may be a perfectionist… but I’m astounded how hard it is to get a truly straight line perfect face of a board without seemingly major shop equipment… I can get very close and probably negligible but it’s such a bother…

    I don't build things so much as I restore old rocking chairs, bird mansions and right now I am stripping the 7 layers of paint off my banister, hand rail and 12 spindles. I prefer the natural look of the wood than paint. My baseboards are a foot high and I love it. The house I live in is just over 110yrs so you can picture all the wood [I know you can Johnny lol]

    For me, the biggest issue with Temu would be delivery times. Amazon can deliver some items to me on the same day, and most things in two days. A couple of dollars is worth it to me in order to be able to move forward with a job. I've heard that Temu can take over a month for some items.

      Hello Peter! First of all, thank you for taking the time to watch our video. I have purchased 95% of my tools from Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon & a few other online woodworking stores. I agree, Amazon's shipping is fast & I trust & prefer them when ordering tools online. I was only curious about Temu which is why I wanted to share my experience with you. On the several orders that I placed with Temu, shipping was at no cost & I received each order on average anywhere between 7 & 10 days. For those who are on a tight budget & want to get the most for their money & are willing to wait a bit longer, Temu might be ideal. Personally, I will stick with Amazon, lol. I still have plenty of other tools from Temu that I plan to review, but I don't see myself continuing to order anymore tools from them. Like I said, I was simply curious. Awesome video - will definitely be checking back in. Interested in the stock guides. What do you think is the thinnest material these would work with. I sometimes work with 1/2 sheet goods and I was looking at a similar set of stock guides on Amazon and it said 1" was the minimum thickness they could be used with. Looks like you were using thinner stock. Any feedback is appreciated!

      Hello & thanks for watching our video, we truly appreciate it! As far as the stock guides that I ordered from Temu, I can feed anything between 1/16" to 1 1/8" thick. It all depends on how far up you set the t-track on the auxiliary fence when you make the jig, so the thickness range of the wood that you use can vary. I hope this helps. Thanks again!

    Thank you!! Until now, I had avoided Temu because of Chinese affiliations. Your comparisons with Amazon prices have changed my mind. However, if I'm looking for a high-quality long-lasting product, I'll be buying from a reputable American company. IMHO - you don't learn from a Woodpecker, you learn why you need it (or not).

      Hello Roy & thank you for watching our video! I completely agree with you. I would have to say that more than 80% of my woodworking tools I purchased from American companies. Another 18% from Amazon & the remaining 2%, if that, from Temu. I also prefer quality, dependable & longer lasting tools for my use. I was simply curious about Temu’s products & I wanted to share my experience with you. I have been surprised with the results so far. Great review! Question with the stock guides is it a set of two or did you have to buy two to make it a set?

    • @thebunkerwoodworks
      @thebunkerwoodworks  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello & thank you for watching our video! We truly appreciate your support. We're happy to know that you enjoyed our content. To answer your question, I purchased two separately at about $29 each, so I paid just under $60 for both. I checked the price right before I wrote this comment & I found some for $23 each. Just an update, the stock guides are still performing great. I don't use them all the time because I can only run material that is one inch thick or less. I have to remove them whenever I need to cut anything that's thicker than one inch. They also have to be removed for thin cuts that require the clearance when using a push stick. Otherwise, the stock guides work well, no complaints. We hope to continue hearing from you in the future. Thanks again! ~Johnny

      Thanks for sharing your experiences Monte! I had a very good friend in the military who was from Tulsa, his last name was Braucher. I first started liking woodworking at the age of about 8 years old from watching & helping my father with woodworking but I didn't start actively building projects until 15 years ago. I was also a wood flooring installer for 8 years which is where I picked up my basic woodworking skills. About 6 months into installing wood flooring, I sustained a bad injury while using a miter saw. I failed to follow some very basic safety rules which led to the injury but since then, I make sure to read tool manuals, be focused on the process at hand, not be in a rush & always use common sense. I certainly learned my lesson but I am always learning & improving as I grow as a woodworker. Despite my experience, I still consider myself a beginner woodworker. Aside from learning things from my father, I also have picked up so much knowledge from reading countless books, magazines & articles, RUclips, & like you, I have also had to figure things out as well as the hard way, lol. I appreciate your advice Monte. Thank you & have a great day! ~Johnny

Then this is where things get tricky…you can return the first item for free no questions asked but if you have any additional items you pay $7.99 for shipping back each additional item. I’ll be uploading a VLOG on stuff I bought and see what you think after that. Most of what you find on Amazon is on TEMU. Btw, Johnny and I appreciate your support here on this channel too.
