I hear you. Thanks for watching a9ball!
I agree. Kind of lowers the quality of the video.
Thanks for the feedback!
Agreed.
his commentary is too drawn out & boring !
Quick note on the table saw gauge, when checking blade alignment to the miter slot you are only validating blade trueness when leaving the gauge stationary and rotating the blade. To check the blade to slot, start at the front of blade then slide the gauge to back of blade. Reference the same tooth in the blade for best accuracy. I have been enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing that Tate, really appreciate it! Thank you so much fro watching and your kind words!
The mallet is actually good. You're mistaken for what it is used for. It's hard and smaller in size because it's used in combination with chisels. Now you know!😅
Hey! Thanks for pointing that out! Now I know! :). I guess I was mistaken on what i thought I was ordering. Happens a lot on that website! Thanks for sharing and watching George!
yeah its best used with carving chisels
Thanks for the reviews
Thank you for watching Scott!
Haha! I agree and great idea. I’ve had a lot of fun making those shirts!
lol another great video Bryan just can’t get myself to order anything from there love Burt’s scoring system. But I will say I have ordered 2or 3 things now from going makes off Amazon and love the quality of the product so far and got a few more items I will order as soon as I save up the money. Thanks for sharing Bryan. Hope you have a great weekend.
Haha! Thanks as always for watching Jim! I'm actually doing another goingmake video sometime soon. I just got a bunch more of their tools to check out so stay tuned! :)
I wanted to give you a big shout out for answering comments. I subscribe to a ton of channels and it just feels right when the channel owners say something in the comments. I feel like they are actually reading them instead of just saying that they do.
⭐
Haha! I appreciate that a9ball. I read every single one! :). I think it's important, and I learn a lot from reading them. Lots of good suggestions out there!
Great idea on the Temu Purchases!
Well done!
Thanks so much Robert! I appreciate you watching! :)
Haven't got anything from there yet got a friend who has over a month ago and hasn't gotten his stuff, so I'll wait and see how long it will take. The Going Make tools I got are great. Thanks for showing us these tools and another great video
Yeah, it really is a crap shoot with getting your tools from these sites. I prefer amazon, you can still find some similar priced items on amazon as well! Glad you like the Goingmake tools. I’m a big fan. I’m actually getting ready to do a video on some of their other tools here in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned. Thanks so much for watching Robert!
The mallet is used for leatherworking. Great video as usual. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yep, I agree. That and possibly chisels? Either way, it is classified under their woodworking tools for some reason. :(
Thanks for sharing. I have wanted to get a table saw set up gauge and that looks to be a good enough one for my few times a year that I use my table saw. Tell Burt we said hi.
Haha! Burt says hello LordHog! Thanks as always for watching!
You’re t-shirt is great 😂
Haha! Thanks so much! :). If you are interested I sell them on my website! www.flynndoggwoodwork.com
You show that juice groove jig at $20 US, here in Aus the Temu site shows it at $78, which is more than double the US price. Cheers for a great video.
Oh my! That's seems like robbery! Especially on Temu. I'd be heading to amazon before spending that much on temu! Thanks so much for sharing and watching Darrylbuckett!
I've bought a lot or woodworking tools from temu lately and they have all showed up well packaged and within 10 days, and im in Utah. I don't really like buying chinese knockoffs, but there's no way i'm paying $150 for a woodpeckers compass i can get for $7... the chisel honing guide is my favorite Temu purchase of the year.. i love it.
I hear you Jack, There are definitely some things that are well worth taking a look at on temu. Haha! I'm glad you like the shirts, I'm having fun making them. You can see all of my inappropriate shirts: www.flynndoggwoodwork.com/shop
THanks so much for watching, really appreciate it!
“Luckily I remembered what this tool was….” 😆
Love that sweatshirt. I would have to modify it to read “hardWOOD store”: nothing serves as catnip to me more than a warehouse filled with domestic and exotic, rough-cut lumber and live edge slabs. 🧡
Haha! Great idea toonybrain! really appreciate it and thanks for watching! Great idea!
Te-wo wo thanks burt for your input tops as always
Haha! Thanks for watching Richard!
Don't forget, you can use that dial indicator to measure how parallel you blade is to the miter slot. I check mine every year or so.
Excellent point! Thank you so much for sharing and watching hamilde! Really appreciate it!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork I started watching you when you only had 1k or 2k subscribers I think. I enjoyed seeing a woodworker that was as organized as me😉. I'm glad your channel continues to grow.
@@hamilde Thanks so much! This youtube thing is making it more difficult than ever getting organized! :). Thanks for watching me over the last year or so. I can't believe I've had so much growth. Really am grateful!
Seems like accurate evaluations
Thanks so much Ray! I appreciate it and thanks for watching!
That juice groove jig is tempting.. rockler jue came out with one but it's like 80 bucks! 😲
I know, i saw that. I think I paid 50+ bucks for this one, so I might have spent the extra 30 to get it from rocker! Thanks for watching MemelordSupreme!
Good video. I like knowing ahead of time if some of these budget items from China are any good. I wanted to let you know that I took the plunge recently and order a few items from Banggood. Of course, I want to support American companies whenever I can but the alternative to what I purchase is not actually from an American company and is twice as much for what I paid for its Asian equivalent. I'm referring to the Chinese equivalent of the Jessum table saw stock guide. I just started using the Hongdui guide yesterday. I have never used the Jessum brand but I will say that the Hongdui doesn't appear to be a knock off. It actually looks pretty identical to the Jessum guide. So much so that, and I could be wrong but, I suspect they are made from the same tooling. The guide works very well with no issues and it's half the price of the Canadian counterpart. I also picked up a 39" inch T square. It also appears to be very accurate and a good buy. With free shipping and taking a little less than 2 weeks to arrive at my door I can't complain! I thought I'd mention it. I wasn't sure if you've done any videos from Banggood or not. Thanks for the video!
Thank so much for sharing this mtnjak! I've heard some other viewers talk about hongdui as well. Sounds like they are putting out some decent products. You may have just gave me a future video idea! :). Thank you so much for sharing and watching!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork You bet!
Do the Temu “Micro Jig” clamps also fit into the T groove to hold like the jig clamps?
Yes, they should fit regular t slots. That is one thing I intend on doing with them for sure. Thanks for watching Dang!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork 👍🏼 thanks!
@@FlynndoggWoodworkmore importantly, is the metal quality the same? A lot of the super cheap stuff is pot metal and not worth the time to unwrap; not always, but the super cheap metal stuff often has tin or something added to the alloy
@@liquidrockaquatics3900 This is an excellent point liquidrockaquatics. This is something I should probably comment on in the future. I feel like a lot of times when you get things from temu, the metal feels light. Even lighter than normal aluminum. Something to watch out for sure I think. Thanks for sharing and watching!
Well done! I've purchased several low-end tools from Temu. No issues so far. Don't think I would ever purchase a high-end tool from them.
Thanks so much for sharing afpitbull60. I think that is the way to go. You can't go wrong with some of the low end stuff. THanks for sharing and watching!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork I always find your videos both entertaining and informative.
I appreciate that!
@@afpitbull60 Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I know my humor isn't for everyone, but I'm having fun with it.
@@FlynndoggWoodwork For me, it's all about having fun. Otherwise, what's the point of doing it, right?
Flynndogg,
Good information as usual. When you use the dial indicator on the blade as in your video, I'm not sure what you are checking. Assuming the arbor nut is tight unless the blade is bent you should not find any difference.
The dial indicator is used to check whether the blade is parallel to the track. This is done by marking a spot on the blade as far from the arbor as practicable. You should mark where the dial indicator is making contact to the blade with a Sharpie. Rotate the blade 180° and move the dial indicator to the spot that was marked. The difference will be an indicator of whether or not the blade is parallel.
You can buy a calibration disk. This keeps your fingers safe from the teeth of the saw. The calibration disk, with some adhesive and sandpaper can turn your tablesaw into a disk sander.
Bob
Thank you so much for sharing this Bob - Great information really appreciate it!
My question has zero to do with this video, I was wondering what and where did you find the insulation for you roll up door and does it allow the door to operate when installed ? Thanks
Great question Jeff, it actually comes with insulation already attached to the door. If you google insulated roll up garage doors you should find plenty of options. Mine was made here by a local company here in Indiana. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
The problem that I had with the Juice groove maker is that the screwhead did not fit my allen wrench and they would not replace it😢
That sucks! I think we are on the same page with temu. I'm sticking with amazon!
Good info, but… that type of mallet would normally be used for chiseling/carving, yes? If so, wouldn’t a harder striking surface be better than a softer one?
Yep, someone else mentioned that as well. But I was hopping for a rubber one. That is part of the problem with this website, the descriptions are poor, and the pictures are misleading sometimes. But you are 100% right, this is definitely a mallet for chisels. Thanks for sharing and watching Robert!
I like your shirt 😅
Haha! It's one of my favorites as well! :). Thanks so much for watching eddiyws!
Now that sounds like fun! Pizza, grandkids and wrestlemania! That is about as good as it gets!
whoops!
Love me some Burt
My alter ego! :). THanks as always for watching CorbyQ! Hope you have a great weekend!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork i appreciate that. Just watching Wrestlemania with the grandkids and ordering some pizza. Hope everyone in the Flynndogg woodworking family has a great weekend as well. Even Burt. Lolol. Such a great character.
I've ordered from Temu several times and I've yet to receive a package that's as battered as you and other Americans seem to get. Not to mention anything being banged up enough for them to be damaged right from the start. I'd probably look at your local couriers / USPS / whatever delivers the last leg for those responsible for the damages.
Otherwise I do agree with what I see often: A lot of the gear is often really tiny, some are really poor quality while others may surprise you, but most often you're just surprised for once you actually received something useful.
Someone else mentioned that when I did a video on this last time. I don't think it is my local courier but maybe customs. Many times you can tell that the packages have been taped over where there is damage. Thanks so much for watching KangasAri!
14:29 there is 6 predetermined angles. 22.5° 30° 45° 60° 67.5° and 90°
Great catch! Didn't think of 90! Thanks for watching TheBrabman!
Sorry, not ordering any cheep Chinese tools but did pick up the T-shirt you had on in todays video.
I hear you! I'm sticking with amazon too. Thanks for watching and thanks for getting a t-shirt! really appreciate it Craig!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork Meh. Most of the same tools are available on Amazon, but for 50-100% more. Multi Angle Square: Temu - $11.24 Amazon $21.58.
@@ST-0311 I agree, I'd rather pay the higher fee on amazon knowing that I'd get what I order and be able to easily return it.
@@FlynndoggWoodwork Actually many products from amazon also made in China 🤣😂🤣
@@peterg0 Yep, I agree, but amazon is american and is much easier to deal with in my opinion. Temu is a carnival! :)
Ive ordered quite a few tools from Temu and have no conplaints yet.
Oh good! I'm glad to hear that. Sounds like you've had some great luck! Thanks for watching Kreacher!
@Flynndogg Woodwork I've only received a couple of orders from Temu. No packaging damaged at all. But what I have noticed is that stuff I've seen is counterfeit.
I recently bought from TEMU an "Original' German made Hurricane lantern from an apparently well known German maker.
The packaging says "MODEL IN GERMANY". The attached tag, which is a copy of the genuine makers tag says "MODEL IN GERMANY". The lanterns glass lens says "MODEL IN W.GERMANY". It has "W.GERMANY" embossed on the metal body.
But underneath the base of the lamp it has the embossed words "MADE IN CHINA".
But I have run the lantern for several hours and it seems to work fine… for now.
It seems to be well made. I guess time will tell. So until it stops working, I will give it a "Chinese Clap" for functionality, and a "Chinese Crap" for dishonesty.
It is clearly a dishonest counterfeit of the genuine German product. But it was dirt cheap.
A very nicely made and fitting cap I bought from Temu has NO manufacturers label inside. That is dodgy.
Totally agree. That has been exactly my experience as well. I actually did a video on many of the issues you spoke of last summer. Temu also avoids paying import or duty taxes by making sure orders are less than $800 apparently.
Pretty sure those holes in the red thing is either indexing holes or for some kind of centering jig. Idk i dont speak chinese
Haha! Yeah, I agree with you. You would think they would include some pins with the tool. I think 1/2 the stuff sold on Temu is not fully thought out.
👍
Thanks for watching Mary!
I decided quite a while ago that TEMU may deliver, but the risk just isn't worth the occasional success. Still thanks for the fun Saturday Lunch video, enjoy your weekend!
I'm 100% with you. If I didn't have this channel I probably wouldn't be ordering from them at all. This channel gives me an excuse to check them out for everyone, and I'm not convinced! Thanks as always for watching Pat!
What risk? If anything if not up to snuff they refund you instantly.
You can return stuff to Temu, quite often they just give you money back ( in credit) and you don’t have to send the item back ;)
Thanks for sharing and watching radiko!
Every once in a while i'll try downloading temu to see whats up. Every time I end up just deleting the app because of how pushy it is to pick your stuff and check out immediately.
Yep, I 100% agree. Their website and app are like a carnival. Too much going on, too many deals, etc. I'm sticking with Amazon! :)
@@FlynndoggWoodwork agreed. besides amazon has us spoiled with fast shipping. I live in the middle of nowhere so I still only get 2 day shipping and the very rare next day shipping. my buddy lives in the cities and gets same day shipping on a lot of orders.
@@NathanTalbertWoodworking I'm lucky enough to get same day sometimes, but usually next day. Most of the time plenty quick for me! :)
Thanks for reminding everyone why to steer clear of TEMU for any measuring devices. They just stick thin rulers in a bag to ship over the biggest ocean on the planet.
It looks like either they are TRYING to improve shipping since a couple of items were in boxes, OR… and this is more likely… they got a deal on “scratch and dent” products.
I 100% agree with you! I really don't like going to their website either, I feel like I'm going to a carnival website. It seems so confusing when I get on there. I'm happy with amazon, and that is where I will do most of my online purchasing! Thanks as always for watching Damon!
The fence is not supposed to be square, there is supposed to be a tiny relief from the front of the saw blade to the back edge for clearance. The wood will still cut parallel to the fence.
That makes sense! Thanks for sharing! I guess that I don't need to make any adjustments assuming my variance was in the right direction. Thanks so much for sharing and watching pinballrobbie!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork The same applies to the Sliding table fence, I did not know this for many years until a trainer from SCM came to our workplace and showed us how to set up the table saw. This is why you can't use both fences together when cutting sheet material.
@@pinballrobbie Oh makes sense! Now you have me thinking about when you put the fence on the other side of the blade. I rarely put it over there, but probably something to think about! Thanks so much for sharing great insites.
I'm not sure it's fair to say the quality of the ruler isn't great based on it bending.... it was sticking out the side of a package, unprotected, after all :)
I do like that you can switch out a more stable ruler, though.
True, and point taken. Temu really has a packaging issue in my opion. Thanks for watching Bastian
Honestly I think it’d be a better video without Bert but I still appreciate the reviews
Haha! You and me both! Thanks for watching and the feedback Trevor!
The Amazon ship times for non-Prime members is about a week as it is. Hell, they can’t even keep their 2 day promise for most of my wife’s Prime orders. And Temu seems to only be getting faster with their deliveries. Most of my deliveries from them are at about a week and a half.
You’ll wait longer for Temu, but if you do some research, you’ll have a good idea of what is junk and what isn’t. And if we’re being honest with ourselves, Amazon offers almost as much garbage for sale as Temu does. So you’ll save a bunch of money on the stuff that isn’t junk, not have to pay for a premium membership, aren’t being lied to about shipping times, and only have to wait a few more days than non-Prime shipping times. The only real downside to Temu is the return process is a pain.
Thanks for sharing and watching WyldfireKeeper!
Hey Bryan, as far as quality if ANYTHING is damaged or broken fill the form out and within 12hrs normally have a refund. Please don’t do a review & bag a product without giving your viewers the correct information on returns & refunds doesn’t look good for your opinion. I’m NOT affiliated with Temu, but have purchased a number of tool products that I thought may have been a risk and have turned out being fine. Another good show.
Thank you for sharing your opinion and watching.
I can't wait until my bright ass charges the wallet
Haha! Too bad it doesn't work like some of those motion winding watches you see. With all the twirking I do, I'd never have to charge it! :)
Can't be surprised when the tool that shows up is smaller than expected. Using a child's hand in the photo shoot to make it look bigger is no different than using child labor in the factory to make it cost less.
Haha! That may be accurate! :). Thanks for watching bmacaulay!
You forgot to mention that Temu has free returns and will refund you for any and all duds you get, so you don't end up spending any extra.
Also the mallet is designed for striking metal tools not wood. So if it was soft it would be a compete fail as it fell apart very quickly.
