Tips to anyone out there practicing with these.
Tips for your safety, don’t hold that rod with your hand. Practice without using your hand. Remember that’s live currents in your hand, don’t get in the habit because the day those gloves get wet, or the day you feel daring to hold it bare handed for a quick spot. You will die.
Other tip preheat metal before the weld. Be creative since you’re new I’d recommend a small butane torch. Torch the spots you want to weld and hit it. That’s how you can arc easier without getting stuck for smoother welds my friend. Good luck

      PMG,
INDEED THAT IS EXCELLENT ADVICE,AND THERE IS CURRENT FLOWING THERE.,MOST PPL DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE ENTIRE ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AN ACR AND LAY SOUND WELD DEPOSIT IS COMPLETLY DEPENDANT UPON ARC RESISTANCE-THE DIDTANCE THE ELECTRODE(ROD OR WIRE) IS FROM THE BASE OR PARENT MATERIAL. THERE IS,IN EVEY APPLICATION A SWEET SPOT,THE ARC LENGTH IF TOO SHORT CAN RESULT IN ARC FREEZE(MORE COMMON IN "STICK", OR "BIRD NESTING" IN WIRE APPLICATIONS (SOLID,FLUX CORED OR DUAL SHIELD). ARC LEBGTH TOO LONG,CAN PRODUCE MOLTEN BALLS OF LIQUID FILLER METAL,THAT CAN BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE FROM EITHER THE WELD ZONE OR TGAT WELDMENT,WITHOUT LEAVING BEHIND EVIDENCE OF BEATING AT THESE GLOBULES OR GRINDER SCARRING.
KNOWING OR HAVING A FAIR ESTIMATE OF MATERIAL TO BE WELDED,THICKNESS,COMPOSITION VOLTAGE & AMP ESTIMATION WILL AIDE IN STARTING AND MAINTAINING A WELDING APPLICATION, ONCE MASTERING PROPER ARC LENGTH IN VARIOUS POSITIONING,T G E REST IS ESSENTIALLY TRYING TO FIND WHICH ELECTTODE MANIPULATIONS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE USING,FINDING TIPS,TRICKS AND SHORT CUTS...
I GOT IN DECADES AGO,ALWAYS WORKING TO LLAY THE NEXT BETTER THAN THE LAST.
I MADE SURE TO BECOME PROFICIENT USING ONLY ONE HAND IN ANY POSITION,NEVER LEANING AGAINST WALLS MACHINES ETC. DOING THAT,IMPRESSED FEWER PPL THAN IT PISSED OFF!! "MAN,HOW'D YOU DO THAT,STANDING THERE,AND WELDING WITH JUST ONE HAND"!! I TOLD THAT GUY-BROTHER,ITS A GOD GIVEN TALENT!! SMOKE WAS COMIN FROM HIS EARS!!
I LEARNED TO DO IT THAT WAY BECAUSE ABOUT A QUARTER OF THE WAY THROUGH WELDING SCHOOL,MY DUMB ASS GOT MY THIMB CAUGHT BETWEEN A 3/8"WELDING TEST PLATE(I WAS PREPPING FOR CERT TESTING) AND A 12" PEDISTSL GRINDING WHEEL. FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS I HAD ONLY ONE HAD FOR USE...

thanks Dony, The variability in your welds could be due to the rods. On the farm here we have a 250 AMP AC stick welder and 6013 rods are easier to use than 7018 which I recall is low-hydrogen and works better in a DC welder. But it does give you a stronger weld once you get used to it. I think the inverter is AC. John in Manitoba

One thing I never hear people talk about on these kinds of videos is if you don’t use good Eye protection you can really get your eyes burned from the welding glare. It is a must to have a good lens and to not have a leak in the sheilds where the lenses connect into the shield. If you ever get burned eyes you will know what I’m talking about but just imagine sand in your eyes. And it doesn’t go away for hours. I went through this years ago and trust me it does not feel good. If it ever happens to you you will never forget it.

I'm retired now and live in the city, but in my younger days I used to do quite a bit of welding. My father and I had an electric welder, spot welder, acetylene torch, etc. in our autobody shop but I would have jumped on something like this if it was available at the time. This would have been excellent for small welding jobs in confined areas. Easy to set up and use plus I really like the trigger control. BTW I am a Canadian and I live in Alberta. I really like TEMU and I buy from them on a regular basis. Anytime that I had an issue I contacted them online and it was resolved right away. Thank you for the video!

For around the same price there are stick welders build the traditional way, those are much better. All that size in your had take away sight on your weld in corners, the weight make it hard to control. You cant roll this between your fingers if you weld around a tube.

It's just a stupid idea to have the entire welding machine in your hand. The weight take away control of the rod while welding. And in hard to reach places also the sight on your weld. You can find better welders for the same price at discounters.
The best thing you can do is to look a and old used pro stick welding machine for the same price or a little more. And dont mind the weight, the heavier the better. That means they have a copper coil around a cast iron core. Those are the most stable and controllable welders.

Beside of that, an obvious non-welder advice on a welding machine. It's like an RC model pilot want to learn you how to fly the real thing.

Temu is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and has an average rating of two-and-a-half out of five stars. Many recent complaints about Temu on the BBB website say that items never arrived or, if they did, took weeks or even months to arrive.

I personally don't trust the BBB. I had issues with a tax preparer years ago. The BBB decided that what the preparer offered me, free tax prep is good enough as a penalty instead of doing something constructive, like taking away their great rating.
So, whether BBB approved or not, I wouldn't go with their opinion of anything. Just my opinion.

The cleaner the surface the better the weld will always be. Plate thickness takes more power to create enough heat in that much metal. A thicker rod will take a bit more power. Smaller rod for thinner metal, less power.

I think that with some practice, this thing could come in handy around the house for light stuff.

I bought one of these and it arrived a week ago. I am not a skilled welder, but I can stick metal together with a mig welder. This portable welder thing was awful. I used 3/32" welding rods and every time I touched metal it stuck on and was difficult to remove. It was cheap but I guess you get what you pay for.

At first glance, it seems sort of gimmicky. But you showed its not too bad for DIY homeowner type use. Definitely not for serious structural use. I wouldn't be welding on the frame of my pick-up truck, but very easy to fix that broken wheelbarrow. I would like to hear your thoughts on welding overhead. I'm thinking it might be tiring with the weight of the inverter in your hands. Thanks for the video. Cheers!

    Hi Donny
If I Could Make A Comment Please
When You Are Trying To Weld A Joint, It's Better Instead Of Going Along The Joint, Move Your Rod Slightly Left To Right Across The Joint.
I Noticed It Was Too Hot & You Was Going A Bit Too Fast. Left To Right A Bit Slower & You Will Get A Better Weld On The Job. Where As You Was Going Along The Joint & It Was Getting Too Hot & Blowing A Hole In The Metal. Best To Keep Most Of The Heat On The Metal Itself. I'm Not A Professional By Any Means, & I Do not Claim To Be A Professional, But I Have Done More Then My Share Of Welding

I have been a welder for over 30 years and you cannot use 3.2 rods on low amps. You need to switch out to thin rods drop the amps and stitch weld.

I couldn't help but notice that the input power was 4.6 KW. My 120V output is rated for 20 Amps. I used a KW to Amps converter to find out that I would need a 38.3 amp circuit breaker to operate this tool. Is that right? I've been wrong before but??? Maybe in the country where this tool comes from the calculations are different.

  • @truocleb
    @truocleb 5 месяцев назад

Looking at the definition of inverter welder. It states that it is a DC welder. So what is the polarity. As a Welding Technologist, some rods prefer strait polarity and others reverse polarity. This may be where some welding on these videos goes not so good. For example a 6010 is a reverse only rod. Is this machine set to reverse. As for general welding the rule is strait polarity more heat on the plate, and reverse if you want more heat on the rod. I think I might have to buy one of these.

a good looking weld doesnt mean a good weld, At college i did what i thought was a really good weld literally on my 1st attempt, was perfectly straight, the slag pretty much peeled off as i went along, all leading me to believe it was a good weld, until my piece went through the nick break test and it failed lol. I was naturally gutted, but its a leaning process. It does look like it would be hard to control for really neat welds, but you would buy a proper welder for that, i can see a use for this tool, like in the middle of a field or something. Think i will wait till more reputable brand brings one out
