The problems with the People Mover are really easy to see. The stations are atrociously spaced (very few decent gaps exist), service only goes in a clockwise loop, and the loop hardly goes anywhere. The speed is also rather abysmal, though at least part of that is because of the large number of curves for the system. Maybe if there were at least branching services to more of Detroit, people would use it more often -- even if this meant retaining the sole loop. Maybe if some of the extra stations were closed, it would also serve to benefit everyone from a practical standpoint. The difference in coverage would probably be negligible, at best.
So the train is just running back and forth? The city skyline looks really cool though. I am visiting Detriot in couple weeks, I want to try this ride.
Remember growing up in the suburbs of Detroit in the 60's and 70's. The People Mover was a big joke at the time. Another huge waste of money....pushed by Mayor Coleman Young. Many, in the burbs....affectionately named it...."The Soul Train."

Democrats are not good planners
@@PeaceToAll-sl1db And this random claim is based on what, exactly?

The train just goes around and around and around the downtown area clockwise only. Enjoy your stay in Detroit!
Thanks Peter for the response. That helps a lot. Cheers!
This train seems cool, but so few people in the stations...
Laurent Schreiner Yes, it's cool and fully automatic. But very few people use it because few people live and work in downtown Detroit.
GREAT
