  • The next perfect film location, the Original Townsite Historic District in Raton, Colfax County, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on March 27, 2008. The historic district is 120 acres and roughly bounded by Clark and Cimmaron Avenues, and South 2nd and South 7th Streets and contains 360 contributing buildings. The City of Raton was platted in 1880 and Raton was built at the base of a major landform known as Goat Hill, which serves as part of the City’s western boundary. The townsite was developed on a grid system and most houses in the area were built between 1880 and 1940. Developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the district contains excellent examples of the Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Bungalow, and Pueblo Revival styles.
