While Gordon Ramsay does provide harsh criticism from time to time, he mainly does it because he wants to see them succeed and knows that they can do better, that's what I believe anyway.
I think Chef Alvin’s critique of Alisha’s dish was one of his finest. He focused on the importance of being a strong and honourable person, while providing fair constructive criticism. His evolution throughout the seasons is amazing.
Yes, I totally agree with you. That is one of the beauties of Masterchef Canada. This reality show isn't just about people cooking in a serious contest to win the title and possibly have a career involved in the world of food. It's also about teaching people new things, and reminding us of the importance of having good character morals. So that the contestants can indeed grow even more in the right direction in life as good people. They gain even more confidence through such priceless humbling experiences. You often learn a lot more from your failures, than you do from your successes. That is one of the big facts in life.

They often have the gyst of it even if they've never made it before and that's mainly because of experience and personal experimentation. They don't have the basic techniques to expedite everything, but they have the raw talent to make this stuff happen.
