This video encapsulates why i stopped playing GT7 and doing online racing in February. Iv bought myself a gaming laptop and ACC and i only race offline. I just cannot be bothered with the hassle anymore. Love watching your stuff Tidge and my mates when they are streaming .
I bought a rig and the whole setup and only race offline on any game. I refuse to get put into a wall and get verbally abused because they suck. Not worth it. I enjoy the racing without the BS
This video is the reason why I'm considering quitting GT7 myself. It's already beyond a joke now and it just seems to be getting worse!!!
This is the problem. Unless you’re a top driver like Tidge, you’re always going to rammed off the track in the lower lobbies like I do.
I have been screwed over so many times, I am sick of even talking about it. As with you everyone makes mistakes and that's cool but when you get rammed, by someone making a stupid move that was never going to work is moronic. And PD seems to be determined to kill their own game themselves. I long ago decided to never buy GT8, to be fair I only decided to buy this, because I stupidly thought that they would improve this one, we all know how that turned out.

SuperGT handed out a little revenge this week when he lost patience with a dirty driver.
He had such mixed emotions and hated that he resorted to revenge, while trying not to laugh at the outcome (he guided the other driver into the pits on the final lap) You know the situation is bad when very fair drivers lose patience!
I’m not sure who is coding the penalty system but it just seems to get worse with seemingly no effort made to punish dirty driving.
As Tidge points out, the tools that can help identify dirty driving are built into the system but just don’t seem to be part of the penalty system.
Funny that it was the same Spaniard he sent into the pits that took out two or three drivers this video as well

In my opinion, the wall riding issue could be completely fixed if the white line was the edge of the track. There is more than a car width on the outside of T2, so if you were to go wide up there, then it would be a pen even if you gained time by wallriding.
Agree Lev, they should also get dirty tyres up there as well which will affect the next sector with the chicane. Even extend the banking up higher so there is a car and a half width so there is a clear gap.
Summer is the worst time to play this game because it's literally kids flooding lobbies for the next 6 weeks. I haven't played GT7 for 2 months. I've been travelling around Europe with my family. I'm back just in time for the update on 25th July, which is one day before my birthday. Keep up the good work, Tidge!

I'm not talking about the youngsters doing a great job, I'm talking about the donuts who are treating racing like a glorified time trial. In the summer holidays, you have an uptrend of casual players who don't give two hoots about racecraft and respect. This is the way...
High Speed Ring is fun with clean drivers. Unfortunately PD being absent on dealing with some of the daily scum and refusing to install an actual penalty system means people are just lashing out for any perceived insult.
The fact they werw ultra strict for GTWS top split but refusing to deal with epic punt machines in any other split was a big slap in the face to regular players
@@mid-packhack8130 Once I managed to get into the top 200 quali times I had a blast racing with clean and consistent drivers incl. GOTMAXPOWER, MATTEO, and Joop to name 3 out of a the first 8. I’ve also increased my DR by 32%.
I moved 3 accounts into A DR using this terrible race , the wall riding has been ridiculous, being penalized for being hit is ridiculous. The fact that i was able to go from medium B to High A on a race full of this trash proves this game is Broken . Good vid Tidg

I gave online racing a shot last year, i was by no means clean but stopped racing online just because those kind of people just keep crashing you and other people and then the victims get the penalty. Even if the crash wasn't on purpose, the penalty also ruins the fun

I enjoyed the 86 in this race. Defensive driving is key. Racing after 8 pm, i think a lot of people are drunk, like I used to do.

I'm guilty of being drunk some nights, I usually give up after a go or two because I go from being a top 5 placer if sober, to spinning and coming last or second last..... Huge difference when drunk

@@timmytimmy9099 I completely agree and as another commenter said 50% are 🇪🇸. That being said VTR_Rapa is very clean, and after some close consistent racing; I even gave back a position for a very light incident into the final turn and became friends on PSN.

I'm explaining how the system should work here, not how it currently works.
This race is completely hit or miss, though with the right people it has very good racing. I find the driving standards much better the higher you qualify (kind of obvious but yeah). T2 is 100% to blame with the driving standards but wallriding is too meta to not do it (I got a 13.4 with it as well unfortunately). I was playing it today however and had some class races!
Hey Tidge, I personally think High Speed Ring is a really fun circuit if you're with drivers that you know will race with respect, like communities. So I agree that it's not suitable for Daily Races with our current penalty system, but I've had some awesome events here with Amigos Racing Team 😁👍

100% agree with all your points you raised about this race, track and the ethics of some racers. If the game lets them do it then they will push the limit to get an advantage. Sad to see as clean drivers then lose out.

Agree completely 👍 something needs to be done. I can remember when we could race a whole week without anyone even attempting to spin out a car. But ever since the side contact penalties were turned off, it happens multiple times per day. So I don’t even use my Plebster account anymore and just race for the fun of racing regardless of where I finish because of dirty drivers. It’s a shame that they’ve allowed it to get this bad. I'd be happy to work as a steward reviewing incidents like the godawful stuff happening in these races, but it just doesn't seem like a priority for polyphony. I think experienced drivers like us are pretty critical to the health of the playerbase and if we're getting turned off from racing because of dirty drivers then it will just continually drag down the quality of racing, since the only people left will be the dirty guys.
I think the easiest solution is for PD to have a race contact counter for the race. 1 bump to anything is +1 to the count. Somebody with a ton of count is obviously dangerous and can't drive cleanly. Can't be that hard to code and implement.

I suspect that because this track does actually promote close racing that it is highlighting how most people cannot drive closely. In both of my last 2 GTWS races I have been hit by drivers not thinking. One dived for a closing space which hit my rear quarter (thankfully I held it) and the other one across the kerbs on the final kink at Tokyo East. That sent me for a proper spin. I have had some great close racing (even in low DR B which I am) but every now and then you get an idiot which ruins everything and seemingly get away with it.
Had that Spanish FRT-Apache guy in several races yesterday and his driving was complete joke - punting everyone. A/C rated amongs A+/A/S.
I don't believe people are driving any dirtier than they normally would this week, only because of the wall riding the participation is down so those people are being put into your top split race and the undesirables can start further up the grid because they're bowling with the rails in time trial. You see complaints all the time from people who are around DR B saying they can't race because of this crap on any other week.
I've had some decent races this week, I had to be a cheaty wall rider in qualifying to get away from some of the crap but it's a good track for racing if people want a clean race. Of the cars I've tried the TT is pretty good, it can take the fight to the Veyron's if everything goes well.

We had a great race here in a community league, where we all trust each other. This race however was awful, starting with wall riding. Which has put lower standard drivers into position they normally couldn't achieve.

The dirty drivers are everywhere! Last weekend’s Toyota GTR Cup race had plenty. The 1st lobby was full of ppl that would brake check on the straights, giving 2 second penalties for any contact and 5 seconds if they got punted off. That was the only race I’ve ever quit. The next lobby was way better, though…
We need to have a distributed group of officials to set IP Bans.
Found the veyrons hunt in packs barging and bashing their way through, then take advantage of the walls to ride round. Can be very frustrating for other drivers doing it clean.

Ive said from the last year of sport the whole penalty system needs to be overhauled but the way they have gone about it with 7 is basically nothing unless your murdered then they give out a 4 second penalty
Only just got my platinum trophy for GT7 by completing the 50 sport mode races. For over two years, I've been avoiding it. Got sickened by dirty drivers in GTSport but just put my head down in the last 5 weeks & got there.
Good tally of wins & top fives with decent qualifying times, but the wilful dirty driving is beyond a joke.
They will drive you into a barrier to stop you passing, then post the "Thanks for the clean race" afterwards... I've invented new swearwords on those occasions at the sheer gall of the cheeky wee so & so's. That mince I don't need in my life & now I don't have to. Happy days, sweet. 👍

I've moved away from daily races years ago because of the dirty racing, it's really frustrating. I entered a few of the championships and did well enough, the racing there was generally clean, but the dailies are awful.

Impossible to do beat the meta this week due to the wall riding. I love High Speed Ring but i e refused to do a single race online since Monday morning due to having to wall ride to even have a chance of starting further up the grid. Plus looking at those driving standards im glad i havent
I stopped playing GT back at GT6, so I don't know if private lobbies exist, but that was the only way I used to race online... with people I trusted to race clean.... I see things have gotten worse... maybe it's just how entitled the younger gen are, if they don't like something or can't be the best they throw their toys and have a melt down....

As for the 86 driver flashing their lights, i think theyre just doing it for the lols. Im a controller player and while i grip the controller kinda tight, you kinda have to go out of your way to press down one of the sticks (the sticks being usually what the lights horn etc. are usually bound to.) They may have been trying to communicate some of those times but i think theyre just doing it for funsies.
Outside of that, a better penalty system wont fix the general attitude of the player base. The player base needs to get its shit together collectively.

When they did the BOP for this race do you think Polyphony thought - should we only have one competitive car, hmmm yes as it’s too much work to make a fair balanced game - remember this game engine at its core is 12 years old at least, they just update it graphically and all the changes including the changes in the upcoming update are setting changes not code changes - it’s the best Simcade but it’s not a great game - if Sony showed the actual player numbers i think you’d see that the majority of copies sold are gathering dust for most players as it’s not a fun game

@@JayS1622people need to accept contact happens in racing, but Intentionally punting, running off track or inducing someone into a spin is dirty driving, I support implementing a 1 hour ban for sports mode if deemed guilty following a review.
My guess is, they don't have the man power to look into every review! Or report..... That's why , they don't want to pay anyone do look ....... So all we have is a flawed AI penalty system, which I am grateful for.... But hope it improves.
Ah, so this daily is a nightmare regardless of DR. Thought it was just B and C lobbies for knuckleheads like me, who refuse to use metas or ride walls. Spectacular. 😅
I think this race is the perfect encapsulation of GT7's worst aspects... wall riding physics, lack of meaningful damage models, awful penalty algorithms, being forced to serve penalties on-track, un-ghosting without warning, and a track that is single file for most of the time. After all the wall riding at the Tokyo tracks in GT Sport, you'd expect PD to learn not to put barriers right on the paved asphalt. If they had just given the inside line a bit more banking, or put a tiny grass patch like those on Sardegna A on the outside before the barriers, would do a long way in dissuading that.
I've always opined that a game should explain and enforce its own rules, and meaningfully punish those who break said rules. In a competitive environment, players do whatever they can to gain an advantage; that's the whole spirit of competition. Unfortunately here, it means pushing others into walls.
Absent well defined rules that support sportsmanship, a lot of players have to superimpose real world rules and etiquette into GT7, which sometimes don't entirely translate. We can say that punting people and wall riding is dirty, but we cut Senna S and the Nürb GP Chicane more than anyone could IRL and it's clean. It's completely arbitary.
TL;DR: It's not the players' jobs to fix a broken game.
It genuinely breaks my heart to see the traditional single player experience of Gran Turismo seemingly be eschewed for Sport Mode when it's such a flaming pile. I don't like racing online because I have anxiety and everyone online is so quick to anger, yet I feel shepherded into the mess PD has never gotten close to figuring out yet. Anyway, thanks for reading my long rant. Been building up for a while now. Thanks for the top tier content, Tidge.

Driving standards are pretty bad at the moment - there have been some notable people missing from the daily races recently, I wonder how many have gone to ACC, and how many have stopped racing all together?!
I’ll tell you what the Spanish driver was doing, he was being a Spanish driver. This game is a complete joke when it comes to clean racing.

I'd love if High Speed Ring was used more, but people ruining the fun makes it sad. Just adding either grass or sand to the outside of T2 would probably solve the wall riding problem entirely IMO. Hopefully it's something they consider for the next game.
I think the team at Sony AI need to start work on an AI learning penalty system.
I've cut down the amount of races I do now purely because of intentional ramming and thinking of switching to Acc instead as they seem to have a handle on it there, and of course I've hit other cars In breaking zones etc but I don't hit a car on purpose

@Machine_Brad as far as I know you get pit drive through penalty and if they go mad on punting people they can get banned anywhere from a few hours to permanent, not tried it yet it's just what I've seen on people's streams

@Machine_Brad the AI picks up penalties but I think you serve them in the pit lane which is a massive penalty, also you can get banned if your driving is crazy, damage on your car has to be repaired in the pits as well so it pays to not hit other cars
I’m in Texas and the Canadian drivers have been the worst for me in the lobbies
If there was true damage, it would change the play. Then make them pay to repair their vehicle they would think twice about intentional punting.
I also found the NSX to be really good here. I set my best quali time with it at 1.14.061

I can see how it might be used maliciously though for revenge .....
It would probably have to be incorporated with a stricter penalty system so that punting, leaning, brake checking .... Can actually lead to a 1 hour sports hour ban, or 24 ban in extreme circumstances ( through actual reporting & deemed guilty) or 3x 1 hour bans in 24h period .... Banning any further sports mode play for 24 hours.
That will discourage bad drivers , never know might get rid of them completely 🎉 😂
Real life damage makes for even greater Intense exiting racing - I honestly feel like I'm missing out on some edge of seat racing because it's being dumbed down for the masses that cant control themselves.

Tyres would explode (either from collision with the barrier/other cars, or from excessive wear); run out of fuel, you'd sit there in silence when the car finally came to rest

Yes, this wasn't an online game (and you drove the car with the mouse!) But I do think graduated levels of difficulty would help retain the beghiner-level 'easy-to-play dynamic', whilst providing a greater challenge for the more serious 🤔

Leagues are the way forward atm daily races ain't worth it, when i started i was doing ok and now its just like destruction derby and impossible to rank up when every corner you get taken out, i gabe it so many chances so now i stay offline and going over to iracing once my pc is back up and running.
There was a driver in the americas lobby where P1 would brake check everyone, I had to go on my second account because I just didn’t want to deal with it
I did this race once and gave up due to dirty driving and nonstop punting. Just not worth it.
This video is a 100 percent demonstration of why I walked away from GT7 , until they revamp the penalty system and employ a permanent damage model the dirty driving isn't going away , a dirty driver can overcome a small penalty but he can't overcome a severely damaged car
Online GT7 has become a big shitshow, I try to drive clean, but the other day lost my patience with dirty rammers, said some offensive stuff and got a warning from PSN. The penalty system is still a joke as sometimes u get rammed, hit the guy in front and get a 3s penalty for that, side hits, or leaning or pushing into the walls are ignored, slight side touches to the back that turn you around are ignored...I'm pissed with PS and with the driving on the game...useless game, really considering to throwing it out the window. With the AI tech it would be extremely easy to incorporate a perfect penalty system. It's exactly the flawed penalty system that fuels the most of the rage and dirty driving, and only some of it is lack of skill or lack if experience on the pad. The slight mistakes some do, are mostly with the pad, because you just can not be as precise as with a wheel, so I will say it again, group pad drivers and group wheel drivers in races and it will be better. The other problem is there is no way to report someone, if there is tell me please how.
The dirty driving is happening in C as well. For some reason everyone is just getting more and more aggressive every week lately
Im trying to get back into it. But its been rough. I have uploaded a couple decent races. Luckily i have Tidgneys American account on my friends list......so i can always check his time out. I try to get within 2-3 seconds of his top time. Its still fun. Just don't get mad. Thats what ive been doing.

My idea @Tidgney would be to allow players to block handles/ID’s by themselves so that your entry into the lobby gets directed to another without said driver. It’s not a perfect solution but then at least PD wouldn’t have to police/manage which let’s be honest, they’re simply not going to do. What do you think?
Also @Tidgney, as well as the above maybe the player could also block entire regions Eg. Spain or Portugal etc.
It's a good idea, I just think that the matchmaking system wouldn't be able to handle it as if 16 people all have another 16 blocked, then none of them can be matched 👀

I had the same experience last night... impossible to have a normal race if you start from behind. But even if you start in pole and you have a spanish driver behind you, you are screwed... don't know what's wrong with them. I even got a warning from psn bc I called one of them cabron 😅😅 🤪
I plan on going to Iracing eventually. I am competitive i raced in the championship round today and there are idiots that cant drive and they will wreck you with no regards. I try to make clean passes and in return get punted in turns, blocked, etc. They should start banning players for repeated collisions. I watch replays and these drivers do it the entire race with anyone unfortunate that gets in their proximity

The line you take on that corner should be the faster line. How can riding the wall be faster? It's a shame the game can't identify the dirty driving and just hand out disqualifications. That could solve the problem.
Not to sound unhinged but I'm noticing in EU it's always Spain, and in US it's always Brazil that are always the dirtiest drivers. I wish I could get put in EU servers tho because they're more fun.

Race C is no better. In 6 races I didn't have any clean ones in A S lobbies. You just get pushed into barriers or punted on straights. And guess what, calling somebody a clown is an offense. I am done with GT7. Pathetic how they deal with it. The game is dead to me. Still be watching you though. Any hints what I can play instead on PS5? ACC on console any good?

There will be dirty drivers in every rating. The skill level in theory should mean a reduction in bad driving the higher up you go though.

I stopped wasting time with sport mode back in gt sport days...its nothing but a bunch of kids and adults with ego issues and no consequences....private lobbies where only decent drivers are allowed are all i do on GT....for online i use iracing which is a far better platform...Yes there IS the occasional idiot there too but you can get suspended or banned for it...unlike GT

I did a video on that in terms of it could be to do with the way they live/brought up. It's the same for many people around the world where different countries drive very differently, they all have dirty drivers though unfortunately 😭
