    I've been a C.O. at Sing Sing Prison for the last 18 years. These Inmates are BEASTS. And I've actually adopted their workouts and diet to my own. They are disciplined. Dedicated. They eat tons of tuna and sardines in olive oil. They eat Top Ramen, without the sodium high flavor packet, for carbs. When they are not hitting the iron they are busting out 200 to 300 push ups in their cells. There is no alcohol. No beer. No McDonald's or Taco Bell. They do a lot of bar work with pull ups and dips. When you stay away from fast food and booze and just focus on regular food and working out and going to bed at a decent time you will get buff also. And veggies. Very important. These guys get veggies. I once saw an inmate eating and onion like an apple. He says it's good for the blood and circulation. I started doing that. An onion a day. I don't need to take my blood pressure medication anymore.

      Whey is not good food, market B.S.
      Whey vs prison food = push / tie.
      You left out steroids.
      Prison food is a source of carbs and protein, that food get the job done, which is to make a turd. Inmates have the tools of the trade to get those workouts in, and they have a lot of time to sleep and grow.

    • @Mi5Agent007
      @Mi5Agent007 9 лет назад +13

      Billy Batson I agree bro, Prison is a perfect environment. Much of the guys who are jacked are naturally well built and likely physiogically well designed to grow for mass. But the main factor is, food, plenty of rest, spotters on hand to help train, motivation, environment as Elliot said where you have to grow for the peacock analogy, and you think these guys cant get hold of roids? They often can.

    • @BillyBatsonMarvel

    I was in the military for a year recently. The final 6 months I was working out a lot and correctly. I realized that the system of eating healthy and the same time each day, the environment of a lot of running and carrying stuff helped. The testosterone in the air helped. People ask how I built 8kg of muscle in half a year. Military was a great start to my bodybuilding career. Just saying that Elliot is talking the truth. Military was quite close to prison in many ways.

    I wasn't in prison but I was in jail, in only two months I gained thirty pounds of muscle, that was absolutely fucking insane for someone like me. this guy's theory is not far off. let's start with time, in the free world you are distracted by everything, media, and school or your job. in jail all of those things are irrelevant. you are no longer worried about the troubles you left on the outside. so mentally changing already. now in jail after a while you get used to a schedule, everyday is literally the fucking same as the last, not including other activities you use to distract yourself like a game of cards, or chess, other then that all you do is wake up, clean, eat, that's it. but we as humans need more.then just that, it is s natural occurrence to get curious. some join gangs, others become trustees, people can.even get college degrees on the inside if they wanted to. people like me, "fresh meat" however where worried about everyone and everything. I cane to a very simple conclusion that I just needed to get stronger, I felt there was no other option except to become the bigger animal. with nothing but time on my hands getting jacked was no problem on the inside, I ate like an animal, slept like an animal, worked out like a beast. you are fed whatever the correction facility is able to provide, while although the food might not always be the most appealing it was food, most jails must put you on a strict diet, unless you have money in your commensary, but that's a whole other thing, I was put on a 2,000 calorie diet, but I ate more then just that because I had some commensary so I could buy Ramon noodles and peanut butter which is packed with protein. so now time, diet, and surroundings are affecting everything in you. now if you have never been in competition with someone you won't understand this fully but have you ever had a friend that was good at something, and you also could do that same something just as well, you both are performing the same thing but each of you find yourselves trying to one up each other. this same thing happens in jail but it's with testosterone, if you are a skinny mother fucker in a room full of big mother fuckers.you are immediately self conscious and intimidated. that is the power of testosterone in this kind environment. now all you want to do is either run away with your tail between your legs, but you cannot be seen as weak in jail otherwise you will get picked out like a gazelle in a room full of lions. so your only choice of you want to survive is to evolve. for hours on end I worked out when I woke up, I did 50 push ups, after I ate took a small rest then when everyone was awake I would do even more push ups 100 to 200, then lunch came around. after that I would take a small rest again but now everyone is really energetic around this time so the atmosphere is completely alive, everyone is doing.their own thing me and my cell mate would bet push ups or sit up and even squats when we played poker. you can either finish the amount you owe after the.round is over or have the people you played with have you on call, which means you have do whatever you owed when you where told or suffer consequences. so that's even more work added on to the day. at the end of the day before I went to sleep I had a routine. Which consists of pull ups, and all kinds of varieties of these workouts(I only worked on my legs once a week doing specifically squats) at the end of the day I would amount to an average of 400 to five hundred push ups a day, 300 sit ups, and only a hundred pull ups (not including extra shit I can't remember at the moment) because I had just started doing pull ups for the first time in my life, which even though they where so hard I still did them because everyone was looking to see if I was weak so they could take advantage of me. no one ever put a hand on me ever. when I first went in I weighed 150, in only two months I gained an incredible 30 lbs. so I was now 180, I've only heard of professional athletes doing things like that. but I think being young and at a height of 5' 10" helped out a lot. so the key things to my success was time, effort, diet, and most especially environment, and sleep. those are the key ingredients for success in anything you do in this life. after jail I took that to heart and it is taking places I never thought I would go. I was able to graduate high school with only one semester left, and am now soon to attend college. peace brothers and sisters may you find what you are looking for

      Hey there Noah, I'm Jonás from the Dominican Republic, and I'm pleased to say I really did like your story and way of thinking; after reading this whole passage I really understood that working out and most of gym-related stuff did mean: and it's absolutely no doubt (as you previously said) that in that kind of environment, you really live by a routine, a very strict one I should say, which is actually the goal of every human being that wants to form part, like us do, of the "fit-healthy life".
      With such factors as the diet, the rest and the psychological pressure among all of you at jail, I can now easily understand how in such small amount of time you could reach the goal you wanted to achieve, which was obviously to adequate to your surroundings, (obviously excluding the workout part).
      Finally, I would like to say that I hope everyone wanting to understand how all the gym-related stuff works, reads this passage of experience of yours because, in my opinion, this isn't only related to prison and "jacked inmates", this also has to do with some factors of life itself.
      PD: Sorry for my english😂

    I will tell you from experience, i´ve been in jail and i became big every time i went in, the reason for me was its bcoz there is nothing else to do in jail, most of my time i spend in my cel, it depends also in what kind of jail you are, the only thing you can do is read books listen to radio if you have or... train, train and train, every day, and your food is bread and not much food, so everything you eat is going to the muscle and do not become fat, you will have hunger in jail if you low on money, i have seen many drug adicts entering jail and small rats and bcoming big in jail, 4 walls can make you big but you must be strong in the head, 4 walls can make you weak or kill you, pray to god is my advice and put your mind at zero, thats what they allways told me in there, put your mind at zero, dont know how to translate that in english.

    i went to prison 5yr, just turned 21 at the time ,,,,,40 now life is good.... we did 17 hour lock up, then rec time as they call it,, so you get your time to train and that you do very hard, great for sleeping, also you have money buy what food you need,, all about the food,,, and i agree no stress not like outside sounds crazy but true ,,, stress number 1 killer... and then its up to you and how strong you can be mentally and you will to survive so you will grow to your surroundings ,,,

    They don't have fast food restaurant chains in prison.
    If your fat percentage is low, then muscles are seen much faster and better.

      @jackson102881 10 лет назад +2

      no because not all men work out, guys in prison typically do. you want to be muscular fuckin work out simple as that. get your recommended gallon of water a day and actually exercise. theres no secret diet plan. everyone is looking for the secret way to get in shape.. its not a secret workout and drink water, something that prison inmates do often.

    • @Youtuberfan10
      @Youtuberfan10 10 лет назад +3

      Alex Konovalik
      Alex apparently you do not understand my logic.
      Without junk food, you get less calories. Getting less calories will give you faster a low fat percentage. Having a low fat percentage will show your muscles faster. Even if you are not a bodybuilder, you will see the muscles faster when you have a low fat percentage.

    TESTOSTERONE is the #1 factor here. It is known that elevated levels of testosterone provoke aggressive, unpredictable, and impulsive behavior. So I think it’s fair to say that many inmates likely had higher T levels when they came in, and on top of that they’re in an environment that’s an alpha male, survival of the fittest type of place, which is known to further increase T levels. You’ve got guys with really high T, workout for hours every day, eat clean, and get plenty of sleep. No wonder they’re jacked.

    People in prison are more jacked because they work out, rest alot, and their brain is entirely focused on working out.
    When you enter an environment where everyone is big, as long as you work-out, your brain will program itself to make your muscles grow faster. Call it survival mode if you like.
    Some call it focus. It´s your brain at its best.
    This happened to me when i was in the military. I worked out 50% less, but gained muscle much, much quicker... ( Lots of sleep and regular meals. )

    I was in prison for 41 month's. I built up to 1000 push ups every other day. and pull ups and dips on the days I wasn't doing push ups. I have never been stronger in my life. I rested on the weekends. I felt strong but didn't relize how big I was untill I got out because dam near everyone in there was bigger then me. working out was the only thing that kept me sane and put me to sleep at night. working out was a must for me otherwise I would have went insane. prison helped me get focused and strong mentally and physically. it was still the worst years of my life. u can do the same on the streets. fuck prison. I hate that place I can still smell that fucken place and I been out 4 years. the things the gaurds did to people. those gaurds should be locked up. my advice is not to go to jail period.

    A friend of mine went to jail and came out huge.
    He said that there was a limited time to train everyday and limited equipment which everybody wanted to use. Therefore workouts had to be very fast and intense, and there was not enough time even to change weights so he often had to lift very heavy weights and bang out his sets quickly.
    Additionally his diet mainly consisted of egg noodles, tuna and jacket potatoes.
    Thats why he got hench.

    The parolees that I worked with for many years in the 90's had one thing in common. No drugs, alcohol, cigs, junk food and TIME. Sure, you can get small amounts of dope or an occasional smoke or a cup of pruno but basically the guys working out hard won't do any dope, smoke or junk food. Go work out 5-6 hours EVERY DAY for 5 years and it will happen. When I was a young Cop I was strong and fast but Nothing like the Big Convicts we had to frequently deal with. Most will "cuff up" if you show them respect and a few kind words because they KNOW you would have to shoot them if they fought.

    Two additional factors that I observed after working nine years at a federal prison were that some of the younger inmates had never applied themselves to self improvement their own lives and we're mentored by older inmates to have disipline. The other factor is that lifting weights increases the inmates self-realization in a situation that could be depressing. I felt that weight training was a positive activity for inmates; if I felt threatened by a buff inmate I would just get a couple more of my coworkers to pile on. Everyone goes down the same once you pile five on one.

    The scariest prisoners aren't even the ones that are huge and jacked usually. The scariest are the crazy unbalanced ones, with absolutely nothing to lose and a will to violence to the death. It doesn't matter how jacked you are when some crazy, fast animal comes and shanks you repeatedly from the side. But luckily, the worst of the worst are usually put in solitary with no human contact.

    My friend Jay went from skinny to huge in prison. He said that working out was what him and his friends enjoyed most. It wasnt fear of rape or fear of getting jumped, it was simply the best way to pass the time and make friends. Some inmates did manage to get steroids in but only a few. Working out and bodybuilding is just more appealing when everyone around you is doing it. When you get on the outside, theres other things to do like get a job so you cant work out as much.

    Answer is easy: They don't workout for reps and sets, they workout until exhaustion. They don't workout for a pretty body, they work out to be intimidating and protect themselves. Working out is one of just 2-3 things to do to pass time in prison...for us it is just one of many options to choose from in life.

    Hello. I have worked in a prison for years. The inmates who look big and stay big, already had good genetics before they came in and they held a fair amount of muscle. Every Offender (inmate) who we had for more than 3 years would loose a lot of muscle and by there 5th year it was even more noticeably. The good genetic men would get leaner and look good if they stayed off all the starchy/sugar carbs. The guys who came in already looking soft and not so big would lean out or just plane loose weight within that 3-5 year stay.

    I've been in jail for 12 months and went from 120lbs to 210 and pretty jacked, I feel this video is about 5% relevant. The reason why from my experience is the same as on the outside, dedication! And the fact that boredom makes you workout alot more, we in prison or jail don't believe in resting and pretty much workout everyday,three times a day. But that Is because we are eating three meals a day then comissary on top of that(ramen noodles,oatmeal with peanut butter and protien packs,,tuna fish,chips,mofungos and all that good stuff) and sleeping half the day if you'd like.I did this all without weights(there weren't any in the county jail I was in) was doing 500 or more pushups a day,500 dips,crunches,pull ups,squats,curls with waterbags or bench pressing the bunk eds with people on them. So basically it's the perfect place to blow off the stress and get big quick. This is just from my experience. And Not everyone did it,alot of people choose not to workout,but may have gained regular weight from all the starchy food.Alot of people thAt go into jail do not eat three meals a day on the outside.

    Really depends on what prison you're in, depends on the food they give you. I went to jail for 3 months, went in 145 pounds and could never gain weight. I started eating healthier actually, 3 meals a day. I did pullups, dips, pushups, and squats every other day and came out 154 in 3 months. Jail food tastes like garbage, but it's healthy. Moral of the story, eat healthier.

  • @kings.4375
    @kings.4375 8 лет назад +4

    The simple answer is many of the guys in prison have an intense work ethics when it comes to working out. They religiously stick to their program, working out is great for stress and depression. These men are just like you and me, they both fear and love something. They function in a environment that has rules and regulations, just like the so called free world . I think that your imagination of the situation is taking you on a journey, instead of experience. Most of these men are Gladiators, by their own right, just like soldiers on the battlefield all they have is their experiences, victories, defeats etc. Last but not least, every man is afraid right before he faces any dangerous situation, the man that moves with a strategy has the best chance of survival.

    You spoke so MAD TRUTH bro props to 110% not a lot of fitness advocates understand that physiology and anatomy work hand and hand! So for all the people who wanna start working out PLEASE don’t be intimidated by the atmosphere. When testosterone is in the air people get aggressive, don’t think it’s personal or “thinks I don’t belong”. It just men, will ALWAYS try to one up the next person. If your new to the gym and you see some dude peacocking whenever you walk past him :) don’t take it personal, that means he sees you as a threat subconsciously. ALSO, wearing a heaven jacket at the gym does not mean you look insecure. I ALWAYS wear a jacket because it’s comfortable and it helps me lose focus on everyone around me!

      You can easily make high calorie meals in prison like a swole or spread with ramen noodles and chips. That's another reason.

  • @MoniTbitu

    I don't normally disagree with your thoughts/philosophy, Elliot, but I think that you've missed it this time. I think that the real reason to why prison inmates are jacked, is because packing muscle isn't rocket science. On the outside world, we confuse ourselves with all these complex routines, constantly counting calories and macros, analyzing every angle during repetitions etcetera etcetera when in fact it's simply 1. Train 2. Food 3. Sleep, and you'll get result no matter what. Furthermore, regular people have far too many commitments in life, which takes a toll on the motivation towards bodybuilding or even exercise in general (only those really committed towards it succeed in reaching it).
    In prison, on the other hand, life is much simpler. Like you said, it is a very regimented life style. Eat, train, sleep. Not only this, but you also stated another important point which is the threat of assault, adding to the motivation to pack muscle/get stronger (when you don't even need anymore motivation, the circumstances already very nicely pave the road towards it). So, it becomes very unlikely for you to be in prison, and not get jacked.

    Also we men are around beer, hard liquor, smoking, and sex which helps us lower that testosterone. Without all of those things to help lower our energy and health, in jail, all you do is eat, sleep, build and shit. All of your energy and hormones are going straight to building muscle.

    Throughout history the male testosterone level has plummeted down to a significant degree, and this is because mainly what this guy is talking about, say in the Roman times men were very muscular and big, and had six packs etc, and this is because there was a real sense of danger when another soldier could possibly stick you in the stomach with a sword, it's most likely the same in the army today, because psychologically you know that in order to survive you need to be fit and ready for anything. I read somewhere that an experiment was done whereby they tested two scenarios, one scenario was where people actually did do abs exercises and muscle exercises and the other was where people wouldn't do any exercises but continuously thought about exercising and imagining doing exercising on their muscles etc, the experiment showed that there was a 30% increase in muscle mass where the people were actually doing exercising, and there was a 20% increase in muscle mass for the people who were simply thinking about doing exercises and imagini9ng doing them. Your mind controls the body, and it's the same with growing muscles, and since there's by far not as much danger as there was in medieval times or the Roman times this explains why men in the modern day have significantly less testosterone than 500 years ago, or even just 150 years ago.

      It's true. Thinking about doing things is a good way to train when you don't have access to the real thing. Brain activity in those realms develops, and the body responds, naturally.

      errrrr maybe.. But historically no I'm a 6'3 215 pound 19 year old.... I'm a larger individual by todays standards... nothing crazy though... in Roman times average male height was 5'6-5'7 weight was 145 (generically) I'm massive compared to them. They were leaner on average, however they couldn't compete with in shape males today.

    Been in prison and I can tell you first hand everyone isnt jacked. There are definitely some big guys in there and they do train hard. The meals consist of 3 rounded meals per day. I worked in the kitchen in there and the prison provides meals based on an average males needs. X amount of carbs, X amount of protein and calories. There is also canteen where inmates can purchase protein supplements. Also, steroids do occasionally get into the jail but not all the big guys are juicing. A lot of the bigger guys in there were in shape when they came in, but they do become more dedicated as it becomes part of the new routine.

    Unfortunately Elliot is totally mixed up on this one. Prison inmates are so muscular because they work out and take steroids, which are easily accessible because they are circulated and sold in prison just like, cigarettes, steroids, tobacco and other drugs that go around jail.. Without steroids the average person would probably get smaller and weaker in jail due to crappy nutrition and over stress cortisol production

      Eat,sleep,and workout. In prison you work and earn money too,that way you can buy food apart from the cafeteria,like tuna.Instead of taking steroids you work the biggest muscles in the body and that spikes all kinds of body building hormones. Upperbody is worked the most to get a bigger look. We got inmates that have been bodybuild forever and taught me all this crazy shit. Like I said,crazy but works.

And sleep is not an excuse you have to function no matter what you have to be up by a certain time if you get caught sleeping you get punished 300+ burpees its mandatory to follow all rules. as a theory, the idea that institutional conditions dictate the type of focus people have is a sound concept, in my humble opinion. My priorities will differ if placed in a hostile situation. In prison I might run to increase my stamina in anticipation of a confrontation where my survival might require that I stay energetically active in a fight for longer than 6 seconds without hyperventilating, whereas outside prison, I run only so I can catch the ice cream truck. (I will have a banana boat, please) In prison I might need upper body strength enough to push 260lb Bubba away from my Lilly white ass, whereas outside I need upper body strength enough to push the lawn mower and wave to my neighbors as the drive past my home. My motivation to stay fit, if in prison, will be on a direct 1-to-1 relationship with my desire to stay alive. Void of any weaponry, sharpening my body and mind will be the only viable means to obtain the survival tools I need to turn the odds in my favor just enough so that I might do my time without getting shanked and eventually I might get to go home in once piece. Ever laugh without knowing why? You laugh just because everyone in the room is laughing? In the same way that laughter is contagious, the attitude that is generated in testosterone driven environment is equally infectious, we don't need validation from old guys in white lab coats to tell us this a real factor. Some things are true whether others believe it or not. in my day to day life in the real world, I have to face my most formidable enemy...the poison ivy in my back yard. My only other foe, was a pair of corduroy pants, boy did they give me a rash...I finally donated them to the Salvation Army. I would love to look buff, but my survival does not rely on it. Looking buff would be nice, but as I think about the workouts needed to look buff, I sit down. The thoughts alone are exhausting.

    Nice posit, but Chronic stress decreases increases cortisol and blocks testosterone responsiveness. The research is clear on this.
    HOWEVER Daily systematic weight training and regular dietary intake that follows the gov't food guide, coupled with LONG prison sentences makes for sustained growth regardless of the less than ideal circumstances.

    I know this from experience, I've been to prison 2 times, but I've turned my life around I'm proud to say, but first of all not every one in prison/jail are jacked/muscular, second: I believe if an inmate gets healthier and fit while locked up its because they get into a routine, eating healthier, even though the food isn't the best, it definitely won't make you fat, two hot meals and one packed lunch which is usually a sandwich, third: they get more sleep do to being confined to prison cells, which is probably more sleep than they would get out in the streets, forth: they workout consistently, every time they go out to yard it's an opportunity to workout, so they develop a workout routine, and fifth: the motivation, they know there in the hostile environment, so they motivate themselves to workout so they can be better able to defend themselves in case something goes down, also a lot of guys tend to workout with a buddy, usually the main person they trust,

    Having actually worked in a prison, its really very simple. 6am up eat. In our building they had rec for about 2 hours in the morning. Lunch around noon, 2 more hours of rec in the afternoon. Dinner around 5pm, 90 mins of rec then lights out at 9pm. Eat, lift, sleep , REPEAT! they dont overtrain because they get enough sleep. Not everyone got huge, but a lot did.

    The biggest reasons for prison size and muscularity are focus (like he said in the video), and rest. I knew a guy that I met at a very simple gym who had just gotten out of prison. He was in insane shape....thick but cut as well. He was in prison for about 8 months and he did the workouts in the gym that he did in prison. He did an entire upper body workout 1 day except delts...and the next day was delts and legs. He did 8 sets for all body parts and legs he did 12 I think. He did upper body 1 day then lower and delts the next. He lifted EVERY day with 1 day rest between his workouts....Day 1)Upper body Day 2)Legs with delts Day 3) Upper body Day 4) Legs w/delts Day 5) Upper body Day 6) Legs w/delts and so on and so on. He said that he made sure that for every single set he was doing at least 1 more rep than the previous workout so he focused on increased tension for every single set and rep form 1 workout to the next. only has 3 basic meals a day with ZERO supplements. Granted being in his cell for the majority of the day he said the all got around 12-15 hours sleep every 24 hours including the at night and naps during the day. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you get rest and eat. Your body is an amazing thing and will adapt and heal just like a broken bone. Don't over complicate it. This guy has awesome videos!!!
