I agree he would have been fantastic for the emperor, Although it would have been something that takes the viewer out of the movie… but then again, Christopher Walken voice kind of took me out of the movie as well
Dune 84 may have been harshed by critics back then and disowned by Lynch but it will always be one of my favorite films. It has a unique feel no other film has achieved.
I loved it. Honestly. Especially the 'extended' version. It is flawed. Lynch was never allowed to finish it, and it was butchered in edit.... But it's this flawed, beautifully weird thing that I have always enjoyed. Then again, David Lynch is one of my favorite film makers ever. I have loved literally everything that dude has made. I even like the examples of his art that I've seen.... So not a huge shock I am in the minority that loved Lynch's version. I like to imagine an alternate reality where Lynch actually got to finish it and edit it. Heheh... Maybe it's that way in the reality where Laura Palmer disappears instead of being murdered... ;)
I know right!!! I was so upset when I found out they did NOT give him the Emperor role. I love Christopher Walken but he did NOT do a good job in Dune and he felt like Florence Pugh's Grand-father, Not her father (Age-wise), Kyle would have been perfect for the role.
There used to be a magazine called Starlog. They interviewed Kyle and he stated how excited he was to play Paul and he said he believed that was the character he was born to play.
I loved the new Dune and Timothee Chalamet in it... BUT I still see Kyle Maclachlan as Paul in reading the books.... He just has that natural command 🤷♂
The only thing is, she doesn't give him a moment to actually take a sip! Otherwise a pretty good interviewer, keeps it moving along and keeps it light.
Kyle seems like a REAL class act. Most of his characters come off as sophisticated and enjoyers of the finer things in life, such as Cliff Vandercave (the first thing I had ever seen him in). I love his knowledge of wine, and that he has his own wine. I wish I knew more people who love wine. 🍷
I had the pleasure of talking to Mr. MacLachlan about his wines at a wine trade tasting in Las Vegas. I am always skeptical about "celebrity wines." But he was clearly passionate about his label and the wines were very good.
@7:04 Fun fact Re: Chateau Montelena... The film "Bottle Shock" follows the story of Chateau Montelena’s triumphant victory at the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. AND, plus plus good, Alan Rickman is in it! (RIP)
@@ForceMaximus84 honestly I don’t care. I never read Messiah but from what I’ve heard Denis Villeneuve is gonna have to get ultra creative to turn it into anything on the level of D2. And clearly that man knows how to cast.
I'd pay $40 to have eavesdropped on that conversation between Chalamet and Kyle about Paul. You don't really get to hear too much about actors talking about playing the same character. We only have 1 note from Harrison Ford to Ansel, one sentence from Billy Dee to Donald Glover, and absolutely zilch from Christina Ricci to Jenna Ortega. So to actually hear a real conversation between OG and New Blood would be sweet.
Really agree about the Dune film adaptations existing happy in their own places. Lynch's Dune had many of the great quotes from the book and was what led me to read the books
Very nice for the mayor of Portland to take time out of his busy schedule to do this interview. We can’t have the Seattle mayor doing more interviews than Portland.
DUNE 1984 is a well-made classic film based on an incredible book. It has always been known that translating that material to film would be difficult indeed. I have no doubt that the success of the modern-day Dune movies was partially due to the '84 cult classic. Once a fan, always a fan. #LLTF
I'm not sure if someone has already brought this up, but when they start talking about Dune, the caption in the left lower corner underneath Kyle Maclachlan states that Dune was released in 1985. That's incorrect. The movie was released in 1984.
Huh, I didn't like her personally. Remind the actors that they're paid good money to answer her dumb questions. That's a great way to put them at ease.
Kyle looks great. I was a fan of the David Lynch Dune, despite a few deviations from the script and he is very classy in his take on the new films and their various interpretations of the books.
Hope not an act, but Karl unlike so many actors came over as a really nice, polite and decent guy without any of the pretentious 'ego' that most film actors have. Could not agree more that he should have played the Emperor because with his film in 1984 and I would say his acting and presence in being able to convey Paul Adredies as Frank Herbert wrote the book, I doubt very much the recent Dune would have got the backing to be made.
I have literally never had wine, just because of how I live, but listening to these two talk about it is fascinating. The dynamic was interesting and it had a great flow... like wine... I assume.
@@GEMSofGOD_com doesnt matter what you read its wrong. Dune 2000 is hilarious with its stupid hats and zero budget. Its like if a High School play made it.

If they make another adaptation of the next dune book they should bring him back as a new character. It would be a great callback for fans of the 84 movie

This man should have played the Emperor in part 2.
Came here to comment this. It would’ve been so cool and he’s the perfect age for it
I agree he would have been fantastic for the emperor, Although it would have been something that takes the viewer out of the movie… but then again, Christopher Walken voice kind of took me out of the movie as well
yes. yes. YES. YES. Y.E.S
Christopher walken gave such a lame performance in an otherwise great film, Kyle would have absolutely served it up
That would have been so freaking cool!
The OG Lisan Al Gaib! He drinks the wine, as it was written
The true Mua'dib wears a stillsuit that changes sweat into wine.
He shall know your ways as if born to them
Dune 84 may have been harshed by critics back then and disowned by Lynch but it will always be one of my favorite films. It has a unique feel no other film has achieved.
Dune should be weird. Lynch did it best so far. And that ToTo soundtrack...
I've always enjoyed the original, but there is an awesome edit of the film on YT by SpiceDiver. It makes so much sense.

I think that David Lynch's Dune is actually better than the book. Lynch's book also inspired Warhammer 40K along with Starship Troopers.

Love what he said about both Dune adaptations coexisting
It's so cool that Kyle was such a fan of Dune before getting the part! I like that a lot.

love how he is able to play the youthful teenager for the early scenes yet the steady young adult for the later scenes
Bro, when Kyle yelled silence I felt that.
Special Agent Dale Cooper. What a guy. Kyle always comes across as a really decent person in every interview I've ever seen of him.
For the Head of Wine Retail, she’s really a fantastic interviewer. All while uncorking and serving wine. Very impressive

That’s wholesome. Reminds me of Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka
Same with Maynard James Keenan. He's very protective of his winery.
If they made coffee or cherry pie flavored wine, that would be Dale’s favorite.
