- A Live Steam Injector Problem On My Large Showman's Engine. I found problems with the pipework to the injector and I thought it was fixed - but apparently not. I changed the Injector for a new one and it still didn't work and it is time to revisit this problem and see if I can fix it.
This Video also includes a quick look at what I am doing in my Recording Studio at the moment - my proper job!

I enjoy watching your video's music, steam , paint drying and you cooking curry. Never know what's next, just like life.
It’s nice that kids are learning music as supposed to just listening to the new music of today.
My favourite video yet, the studio AND the big engine. in one video....... thank you.
Thanks for the tour of your studio. Interesting and impressive.
Great studio - Took me back to the late 60s early 70s and ELP!
It's always neat to see what a pro uses to earn their bread.
I didn’t sign up for music lessons, but I’m glad I did👏👏. I can’t play a note myself but admire anyone who can. 👍
Long ago I had a copy of Switched On Bach, created with an original Moog synthesizer. There were articles describing just how difficult and time consuming it was to use such. Nowadays a one man band is not an eccentric Cockney busking on a street corner, but a one room Yorkshireman in the comfort of his own home. Thanks for that vignette on just what you do with equipment like that. What you have is light years away from the original stuff. All in a few decades. Amazing.
HELL YES I totally love the music sections on this RUclips channel. You are an artist with the gift of explaining things very clearly with no fluff. So its all good in my books. Any one who says other wise is just being stupid.
Thank you for your very kind comment }:-)))
I don't have a real steam engine, and I don't play music, but am still a Patreon.
Thank you for the tour. I never understood how the different keyboards are used nor why one would have different keyboards. This has given be a wee bit of insight. Thanks and good luck with your projects.
Enjoyed both topics very much. I learnt something about music studios and Parts of model steam engines.
I like the steam stuff. But the music equipment is quite interesting as well! My grandmother used to teach organ and piano when I was a kid. I was never around her enough to get any good at keyboard instruments. I've always wanted to learn to play the pipe organ!!
Thank you Keith. Great to see both parts of your video. Your keyboards make my Yamaha 520, good as it is, look a bit small! Best.
what a great looking music room lovely
Very interesting Keith loved the music as a 70's child love electronic keyboard music nothing else sounds as good keep up the good work
As a cornet player I enjoyed the studio tour
Hey sir...
I love almost anything you do! Lol keep the steam AND music stuff coming
Thanks }:-)))
Fabulous trip round the studio Keith. Also very interesting to see how you use Pro Tools. Love that Matric Brute, Id have one but I dont have the space. And to the "I want the steam engines only" gang 😛 and the English longbow mans salute
I like the sound studio stuff. I did some work with recording (with a friend), and I find them interesting.
Keith needs some more keyboards and a couple of cow bells to
Gosh, that is a lot of keyboards! My grandfather used to have a real Hammond organ and Lesley speaker, which he would play nearly every day.
you will find your issues stem from having that additional non return valve in the line from the injector to the clack. Model clacks are very finicky and need unimpeded flow from the out let to the clack.
Also check the flow through the clack into the boiler. They get scaled up of blocked with sludge, sometimes the shuttle hole in the shut off don't always line up well. ANY restriction on the boiler side of the injector will inhibit its efficient and correct use.
The metal detector could be a fun instrument for the recording studio.. 😀
Keith, I liked the keyboards and the video showing them. I'd like to hear you play Emmerson, Lake & Palmer "Lucky Man" on them. And maybe a few of Rick Wakeman songs (while he was in Yes). Loved the steam video segments as well. Cheers!
A video on your recording studio would be a fantastic watch! Just watching back, you do have a very slick selection of equipment there! Is that an SV-1 at 1:15? I've been insanely tempted by one for gigging with as I just can't get a decent Rhodes sound out of my Nord Lead at all.
So, this is what you do to earn the money you spend on steam engines, cool.
You left me behind in a few seconds, but it reminded me of the time I saw Tangerine Dream, in the early 1970's, my introduction into computer enhanced and or created music. ;-0
This video reminds me of Monty Python . . .
"And now for something completely different"
Keith, thank you for the quick tour of your studio. That was interesting. Can you point to a video or URL for non-Keyboardists for setting up basic home studios? I've got a good friend (my metal detecting buddy) that recently was finally able to purchase a keyboard for use in a home studio, but I suspect that she could use a few tips on getting properly set up.
I will make a video about setting up a home studio.
Hi Keith, I would enjoy more videos on your music studio. How about another channel with some music vids?
Pointless really as Copyright infringement is always an issue with recorded music, plus I would have to take medication to allow me to work for 24 hours each day . . . . theses videos that you watch on my channel take quite a lot of effort to make.
Thanks for showing us what you are up to in your studio, it puts things into perspective.
I'd like to know how or if you are able to get steam engines out of your head while you are composing music or if you can get the music out of your head while you are working on steam engines, or maybe you are composing music while you are engineering and doing engineering in your head while you are working on the music ? Probably not.
I'd also like to know how that end of the pipe got broken by the injector, it looks like it was pulled apart but there is a flange holding it in place under a nut so that can't be right can it ?
I don’t know and I’m guessing but I think the power driving the keyboards and the computer is a steam engine in Mr Appleton’s basement.
Can we just have a video of you mucking about in the studio with the sounds? XD
What are the average winter temps there? Here in Minnesota were seeing overnite lows down into the teens or twentys so everything on the engine is drained blown out with air and coated with grease, I won't be able to steam up the case 4" until at least may! I will have to steam vicariously, thanks
Nowhere near as low as yours, usually down to 5 degrees below zero on a really cold day.
With that array of keyboards I can easily imagine you taking James Mason's place on the Nautilus, but in Viking garb.
For clarification, did eliminating the cracked bit cure the injector problem?
