If you go with a longer dwell time you can make a very firm mask that's about 1/4 inch thick and won't need foam. That said, that will make the mask or prop more expensive.
@@justjayjustjay5054 How dry the mold is and how dry the work environment is will determine the dwell time build up. For a really thick part, a 2-3 hour dwell time is a good starting point.
Hey I have a question I usually buy Halloween masks and I paint over them just to do my own twist on monsters I have a question the mask that I bought is called a laughing Jack and barely has any air circulation. If you know or anybody else knows please explain to me how to put holes in mouth of the mask so I'm not suffocating

perfect timing... I'm planning on making a mask this weekend
nice tutorial!
do you know any tutorial or handbook that explains how to create a three peice mold for a complicated part like a dinosaur?
This is so cool! One little question tho is there anything i could use as replacement if i don't have the foam? to remove it without distortion

@@brickintheyardWhat time frame would one shoot for to achieve that thickness/durability?

Can I put the hydrocal molds in the oven at a low temp to make sure completely dry or is it best to just let it set out and dry?
Yes you can, but make sure that it is indeed low temp. 120F is hot enough to speed up the drying process.
Excellent… Thank you.
How much latex do you think is needed for a mask that size?
@@madeleinesilfving6832 it helps to work out of a gallon, but usually about 12 ounces or less
If I couldn’t find mask making latex and I had latex from spirt Halloween would that work for a latex mask or would it be way too thin?
I don't know anything about that latex. Best to do a test and find out or call the manufacturer.
