    Thanks for the video I really appreciate it. I’ve done the exact same thing ran my rumba without the brushes receive the error change the module and again continue to receive the error any other suggestions I robot won’t help since it’s out of warranty. I’m now about to try and oil the gears hopefully that helps guess it can’t make it worse

      Mine was also out of warranty...by a few weeks as I recall...and I escalated to get coverage approved. If you haven't already done that, I suggest you try. Or just pay for the module. As I say in the video, these things are expensive and the SHOULD support them longer than the current warranty. Certainly fiddling around with the broken unit is worth it, but I wouldn't spend too much time on it.

    I took my module out and sprayed it off with contact cleaner on the PCB contact plug. Fixed! I ROBOT said “sorry, it’s out of warranty but we’ll give you $100 credit towards a new one” At 1K, I bet you will!

    I also took the battery out for 30 minutes while I cleaned everything inside. It did a total reset because the app started over, including reloading my map from the cloud so that might have worked.

    I just got my S9 plus on the 13th of this month. So I’m curious. How long did you have your robot before it started doing that? Because I had a 900 series unit, and I don’t believe I ever needed to replace the cleaning had module. I’ve had worn out tires, but never that. You might be interested to know that you can even change the speaking voice. Because each language has two. For example, English United States has a male and a female voice. Personally, I prefer to keep it on the female voice, which is the default one. You might be interested to know that that’s actual pre-recorded human speech you’re hearing. They actually hired voiceover artists from various countries to make those voice prompts in different languages.

    Thank you so much for your insightful video.
    I would like to ask you if I can charge the S9 with a DC adapter not the base? Or I have to create a port for that

    • @DonDoesStuff
      @DonDoesStuff  2 года назад

      There is no sign of a charge port on the roomba, unlike earlier models.

      Encontré un puerto usb tal vez es de carga !!! Voltea la unidad y con un desarmador empujas hacia fuera una pequeña tapita y ahí viene el puerto
      Que te comento

    Were you in warranty or out? I'm out. Did they send it for free? Thanks for the video. I think this is what is wrong with mine. Makes weird noises. Moves around for a bit then stops, etc.

      I was out of warranty, but only just. They sent the part for free after reviewing my purchase history. All that said, now this pos roomba continually give error 31 messages...can't connect...reboot. Garbage.

      @@DonJoycewhat do you recommend instead of this S9 model?

    • @DonJoyce
      @DonJoyce Год назад

      @@Roxie37118 A broom and dustpan!! LOL. I'm now in a simple, one-floor, 5 room house with minimal obstructions. This idiot machine still gets stuck on 50% of its missions, wears out brushes like they were made of tissue, and is generally useless. iRobot support is also useless. They promised a replacement a year ago....I'm now blue in the face. I still run this POS, but I bought a top of the line Dyson vacuum for less than this cost, and can vacuum the entire house in the same time I can spend on the iRobot support line.

    What can I do if that's have a program problem? please help

    • @DonDoesStuff
      @DonDoesStuff  Месяц назад

      Well, you'll either have to contact iRobot support or hope that a hard reset will clear your problem. Google 'factory reset' and then your Roomba's model number.

    Thanks, will give this suggestions a try. I HATE this robot. It makes incredibly annoying noise, grinds and spin, starts and stops, moves chairs around but manages to pick up next to nothing, and has a TINY bin inside heavy, bulky, ridiculously expensive housing. HATE it. The 890 was the best robot ever but finally fell apart. SInce that model has been discontinued, I'd welcome a suggestion for something simple that actually works.

      After buying aftermarket amazon brushes my s9 makes terrible noises. After replacing with OE Irobot brushes it sounds fine. The 890 was junk because they weren't able to navigate around objects but the 960/980 series were GOLD. The s9 i slow as hell compared to my 980. My 980 cleans more area in half the time without charging unlike the s9+. Unfortunately I got a pet and now the 980 doesn't work for me because I empty the bin every damn time and it's full to the brim.

      Don’t like mine either! Noisiest one I’ve ever had and it costs a ton!! Today it’s says it’s been vacuuming for 23 hours and hasn’t been off the charger!

    My s9 won’t reset on the dock. It says it’s been cleaning for 590 hours at this point. I’ve tried to reboot it through the app and nothing. Any help?

      Sadly, this model appears to be complete garbage. I would try a full factory reset. I would never buy a Roomba again.

      Any other ideas? I did a factory reset and it still thinks its running.

      Had similar issue, support told me to reboot robot by holding the clean button for 20 seconds, after several minutes to reboot and reconnect to WiFi….all is working now

    Lucky you,12 iRobots and they never sent me any problem fixers.they were never nice and idk what you are talking about.ppl spend thousands on this highly inefficient product that doesn’t get 2% of what was promised done.it’s errors after errors and you know it.
