On the Direct injection and conventional injectors, pointing at the back of the intake valves, is best protection against the carbon build up problem, that plagued all manufacturers early Direct injection only engine platforms... Though it seems having both already would delivering all of that extra fuel ⛽ needed for this all out, over the top Ecoboost build !!!! Good luck brother, I'll be watching.....
I've had the inkling (as a normal guy who's never done this before) to build a 2.7L ecoboost "underdog" mustang. S197 2010-2012 facia, 2013-14 rear, other custom appearance parts, of course, but the driveline? Built 2.7 set as far back in the engine bay as I can, with a corvette transaxle and rear suspension put it. 6 into 1 equal length sequential header into a big single turbo. Manual or the 10-speed. Probably taller than normal gears, too. I'd aim for 500-700 wheel. And it would be a convertible.
Hey Billy, Bro. Dave Here...are you thinking of building a 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 in a light weight Mustang?...or are you still going to wait on the 2018-19 Shelby GT500 with the Twin-Turbo 5.0L Coyote engine with about 740HP+?...God Bless!
I'm curious as to why you didn't just (after hearing about how much trouble you had getting it to run) go with the Ford Control pack? I know it's pretty pricey, but if it would have saved you a year of work... Now, after having gone through the work to get it to run, would you just drop the cash on the control pack? Reason why is I have a 2005 4.0 with a 5spd with 170k miles on it. If the engine goes kablooey, the 3.5 is what I'd like to put in.
You better be able to break 9 sec with that thing as livernoise is under 10 already with the Eco 4 if I remember correctly. Not bashing just pointing it out love the idea of this car. I really hope ford one day offers a v8 ecoboost in a truck. I love my 3.5 with Tune, meth and all the goodies but like stated in vid turbos ran out of steam. Still amazingly fast and have 74,000 miles since built and lots of meth run through it. These motors are so tough. leep up the good work
Thanks! The fastest 4 cylinder ecoboost is BG racing, it runs a 10.3. If they broke in to the 9s with a 4 cylinder anyhwere they aren't talking about it that I have seen. My setup has a lot more potential, more cylinders, more displacement, twin turbos and a solid rear axle saving me 150-200lbs. If I gutted my car and use carbon fiber parts I could be in the high 8s one day.
The Audi S3 Engine got both. PFI for low duty for good homogenisation of the mixture and the direct injection for good power up top with the cooling benefits of the DI
Spoken like a true SSI minion. The MPT truck is well below 12s, and they have several tune only F150 guys in the 12s. Good luck with that "Maypop" tune. Personally, I prefer my internals... Well... Internal.
I would love to get their help, they wont because I live in CA. My tune is very conservative. I have been beating my car for six months with no problems. At 2700 lbs it doesn't take a lot to get rolling quickly. I didn't mean to cast any shade on them but I think they could have at least advised me after a couple of months of emails and waiting.
+Dan Clary I apologize for jumping to conclusions. Yes, the California restrictions thing really stinks. However, there may be a way around that if you're creative. Lol

You got it, having both port and direct injection is a game changer
I fucking love this engine people need to get on board for the aftermarket scene these engines have more potential than GTR engines
Thanks for all the hard work Mike and crew @ MPT. I love the video and looking forward to continuing the story of this car, it's far from over :)
Outstanding work, sir! I'm super jealous. Best of luck to you on the ongoing build.
Thank you!
Awesome video, I'm looking forward to seeing more! And I can't wait to see what you guys can do with mine, I think it should be done soon!

i have been watching this build for a while now from his instagram

This is awesome! I'm just waiting for the day that they put the 2.7 or the ecoboost in the s550 I'll trade in my s197 coyote in a heartbeat!
Yes you are correct. I'm hoping you can get huge numbers out of it. I've been hoping ford would do this for use but no luck so far
is this car back in Colorado now?

Yeah eco 4 is already low 9s
good video, ford needs to make it already...
😐 why would you want direct and ported injection on a engine?
Currently no way to upgrade the HPFP. E85 is more resistant to knock and detonation than 93 octane gas, but requires considerable more fuel flow.

I wish MPT could have helped me even slightly with mine. BTW If all the trck will do is 12s then it is already second.
Working on some things here that should open the door to helping you out. Can't say when but high hopes.
Link to the faster truck?
