    Just bought a refurbished Precedent and the brake pedal travel is excessive. This video perfectly shows me what I can do as a DIY fix.... Well done.

    Great film; direction perfect. The location of the 2" tape was foggy, but easy enough to work out and, the brake now works perfect. Tks.!!

    Sorry for poor camera work. Nobody to blame but me. I am a 1 man show ( 1 old guy ), and I try.
    I concentrate on the task instead of the filming, sorry.
    I will try to do better. Thank you.

    Wayne, great video. I have a 2011 Club Cart Precedent and the brakes are not asy to engage. Though after a few times they will catch. Does this call for an adjustment or brake pads being replaced. TIA ... btw NOT SURE WHAT THE 2" INCH IS ALL ABOUT?

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  Год назад +1

      Could be both.
      Start by adjusting under the floor. IF that doesn't help, look at brake shoes and mostly the star wheels, they wear out, and should be replaced when replacing shoes.

      What I'm saying, is they are self adjusting brakes. The 2" is the correct adjustment, which you do in the floor hole.

    Wayne how to adjust brakes on a DS club car. My brakes grab and almost throw you out of the cart. Is the cable the problem. Thanks

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 года назад

      you can loosen the cables if they are too tight, but thats not the real way to do it. Its actually quite a process on the old ds carts.
      I suggest you buy a service manual for that cart. I have pdfs of most manuals on my website.

    Hi Wayne, the parking brake lever is engaging every time I depress the brake. The only way to release it is to press the accelerator pedal. Any easy adjustment for this, or do I need a new parking brake release rod?

    Leak of brake fluid on an electric club car...how to diagnose and repair

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  Месяц назад

      Not many electric carts have brake fluid. If you park the cart in a clean area and pump the brakes a few times, you should see about where the leak is by the spots on the floor. Should be fairly easy to locate the leak, unless you have a tomberlin, then you have a big headache.

    Good video. Can you do a video on installing brake pads on Club Cars with self-adjusting brakes?

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад

      I will try to make a video like that.
      I havent been making videos lately that I have to bend over on, because of my back issues.
      I will make one though. Meanwhile there are videos by others that show how to do it.

      @@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 Thank you. I have looked on youtube for hours and I have not seen anyone make a video on how to install brake pads on a club car with self-adjusting brakes. Thanks again.

      To be clear, all precedents, and all late model DS carts had brake shoes and brake drums, and they are ALL self adjusting.

      @@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 that is true. I've read a few of the online service manuals and they all say I would need a 90° snap ring pliers to remove axle retaining ring in order to pull the axle shaft from the axle tube. Do you know if I can get around that without using a tool (90° snap ring pliers) which I don't have? Do I need to remove the axle shaft? This is the part that the wheel is bolted on. It does look like it would be easier to work on the brakes if this axle shaft was removed first. What are your thoughts?

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад

      Yes, it is easier with 90 degree snap ring pliers.
      However, you can still do a brake job without removing the axle.
      But if you want to remove the axle, then you definitely need those pliers.

    Wayne, My first cart 1989 Club Car DS. Does the brake adjustment have top access also? And my cart runs good but i hear a intermingling rattling noise from the rear of my DS Electric cart...What should I check first

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад

      No, there is no top access for your brakes.
      You have brake shoes and brake drums like a car does.
      Your 2 brake cables come to an equalizer bar, under the cart about where the drivers feet rest on the floor.
      You can crawl under there and see the cables. You can even tighten the cables under there a little if needed.
      As far as a noise, are you saying it is coming from the brakes?
      If it sounds like scrapping it could be
      worn out shoes, could be an axle bearing, or even coming from the motor.
      Try to narrow it down.

    Nice video and informative but, your lighting is too poor. Your self adjusting aperture on your camera is not cutting it and video is difficult to see

      I apologize for the poor video quality.
