  • In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the classic song “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” by legend Otis Redding, we are honored to have joined forces with the Otis Redding Foundation and Princess Cruises to bring you this special Song Around The World version. Featuring artists Jack Johnson, Corinne Bailey Rae, Aloe Blacc, Otis Redding III, Dexter Redding, Otis Redding Foundation Students, and more; this video takes you from the San Francisco Bay to the streets of Barcelona to the seas of Jamaica and beyond.
"We are so thrilled to get to share the fruits of this partnership with the world," says Zelma Redding, president of the Otis Redding Foundation and widow of Otis Redding. "This was such a wonderful way to celebrate 50 years of '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay,' and certainly an appropriate and heartwarming way to honor and remember the legacy of my husband."

Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

In 1970/1971, I was assigned as a dispatcher working the docks of Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of Vietnam. As such, this song has special memories for me.

This song is my daddys favourite song. We could whistle alongside the solo before we were in school. He passed his love of otis down to his daughters and now at 70 he shares his love of Otis with his youngest grandson aged 15 months (they dance in the kitchen before breakfast). Loved his sons singing. So like their daddy. His music lives on in our bit of Ireland x
