    this is low-key one of the best plot twists in the show, that they didn't actually have the power to hold him, and that he always had the power to leave but didn't.

      @@032_m.alfathcirrus5 In my opinion, we're getting a new wave of young armchair critics that think the thing they loved has somehow gone downhill, rather than the truth: they're just becoming jaded by adulthood and find complaints in everything. It's literally as strong and as weak a show as it ever was. Nothing more, nothing less. Still great though. To a large degree, it's the people that have changed. They don't trust corporate-funded productions as much as they used to. And I get it to an extent, not being into that system, but it's really no different than it has been going on a century.

      Greed is the root of all evil

    • @theguardianslair529
      @theguardianslair529 8 дней назад +2

      Id say its rooted in reality, how many times do we actually have control over things? Control is just an illusion cause, to put it into perspective, think of a beaten dog. The dog will fear and obey a human cause its afraid of it, its been taught to obey and it does despite it being able to kill us.
      Or think of a dictator, a man who does the worst of humanity in a position of power, his guards wont stop him because he'll have them killed by other guards who don't do anything, he gives positions of power as a reward to other men who will obey him, but its all rooted in the illusion of control. Why would these people obey such a man when all it takes to stop him is a bullet? Cause everyones been taught that if they obey good things happen, if not then they get hurt. So its rather a realistic approach id say

    Homelander should of been brought up and raised like a normal child, but was instead raised in an environment completely apathetic to him and only truly capable of inflicting suffering upon him via his human captors; it was inevitable that he would become an apathetic psychopath with a total disdain for humans. To see Barbara completely disconnect herself and everyone else from the responsibility of raising Homelander like a normal child and even revel in the manipulative tactics used to raise him whilst simultaneously acting like HE was the monster in the scenario and that they were just in treating him the way that they did when he was just a child that THEY biogenetically engineered into a supe just because THEY wanted to is honestly more sickening than some things he has done himself.

      Trauma in childhood usually creates personality issues like 99% of the time.
      Hence why 1 in 5 adults today have boarder line(some traits) to full on narcissistic personality disorder.
      Seriously if our species could truly eliminate most childhood trauma issues, the world at large would be 10x better from that alone.
      The writers just take this concept in the opposite direction.
      Let make child trauma 10x worse and add super powers to the mix, to see how bad the world would be.
      You get narcissistic personality with dives into full on sociopathic behavior that has no limits due to his powers.
