    Ok. I. have purchased and re purchased this watch three times. I prefer the blue. had the black. Looks better in blue` imho. Accuracy plus 3 per month. Consistently. It seems the only thing this reviewer likes is if you can get it cheap. He has no idea that this is a fantastic watch, superb bezel action, very well made. A real diver. Its also very slim with excellent fit and finish. If you can get it on he original strap it has adjustment on the fly. On balance a very negative review of a classic. I wear mine on a nato I dive with it. Perfect. Disregard the endless cost ramble , its worth it even at he higher cost. . A hidden gem, perhaps not so hidden now. That may be why its going up. Supply and demand!

    Fun mod: that text on the strap comes off no problem with a little rubbing alcohol.

    I've owned this watch for about three years and have never had a problem with charging. I wear it about one day a week and store it in my watchbox when in use. The four o'clock crown makes it wear smaller than 44mm. Love your reviews!

    The movement can last 40 years or more. So no need to change it. Just leave it on a table and it will never die. SO it lasts more than an automatic. How much does servicing an automatic watch cost? 200 dollars? more than the cost of some watches.
    I had this in black and lost it. I had paid 150 on Amazon. I bought it in blue, refurb, for $120.
    But you are right about the color: the black is more versatile and appealing. But the blue looks good with an orange strap. it gives some pop.
    Have you seen the Seiko SNE589?

  • @steveb4012
    @steveb4012 2 года назад +5

    Citizen carry a 5 year warranty here in the UK often with an extra year added when registered online. My BM 6400 from 2009 is still going strong as is my 2016 version of your review watch. My wife has just given me an Omega Seamaster lookalike by Citizen for Christmas and I've picked up in the holiday sales a Citizen PCAT. I have 2 Omegas from 2006 and 2007, lovely watches costing much more than my Citizens, however,, servicing costs for them in my ownership has almost equaled their original purchase cost. Serving costs on my Citizens? Zero..no winding, no batteries no babying and better timekeepers as well. Oh, forgot to mention, when I originally bought my Promaster Diver, I bought a blue one, exchanged it for a black one the next day. That rubber strap is awful and a pain to get off, I have a few NATO'S I use on mine but thinking of putting the OEM bracelet on it.

    I've got an 0150 on my wrist right now. For under $200, it's one of the best "starter" watches you can buy. It's stylish, quartz accurate; fit and finish are great at this price point. You can wear it with blue jeans or a blue suit. I highly recommend it. (40 years ago, that was me standing in the rain, doing a live shot)

    Citizen says after 20 years the cell would lose charge holding capacity and be at 80% capacity. And then you can replace the cell. One advantage is that while automatics need service every 5-10 years, you have to open it and get it water tested after the service. If you do not have a good service center to water test, you will not be able to use it under water. Whereas on Eco drive, the service frequency may well over be 10 years. So the frequency of opening it is also less. If it lasts for over 15 years as marketed, then its a bonus.
    I wonder how many even take it to water to worry about the issue. Any diver/diver styled watch would be fine if the purpose is just the styling and normal swimming. The rotating bezel is just useful even on land to time activities. These watches go with a range of outfit so its good to have one.
    I am learning diving and I am using a G shock currently. I also have a tough solar and I think light powered watches indeed last longer than quartz or automatic before they need service.

    Watch prices are going up cause the Fed printed 6.7 trillion dollars to buy stocks and bonds to bail out their cronies and prop up the market. All my beaters are now better than cash, my BL Pilot on a bracelet now cost $120-50 more than the $300 I paid for new a couple of years ago.
    You can get a bracelet for 30-ish on eBay from a seller in Jersey, I must've bought 5-6 and they're more flexible than the OEM. Those BN015X's are well built, very nicely machined with very close tolerances, no lash either. I love mine and it'd make a fine SHTF watch, cheers.

    Another great intro! Nice Tom Brokaw impersonation…
    I have an Ecodrive promaster BNO195-54E that is black ion coated. It’s considered a high-end pro Master and can be found on Jomashop for $212on sale(listed at 385 retail) (I paid 250)...Highly recommend that model(stainless or the black ion)It makes no sense why the lower end versions cost more than the ‘better’ models. Do I get to blame it on the Seiko 5KX (hot garbage)? Well I’m going to anyway! Thanks for all the great content And making my hobby ‘fun-er’...:

    Good video. Great intro! My preference is for the NY0040 Promaster; in all its colors and strap options. The crown at eight o’clock makes it unique. Besides that, I would by a quartz watch before ever considering buying a solar.

    ..
    FIRST OF ALL, = IT HAS 5 YEARS WARRANTY.

    THIRD ONE = AUTOMATIC DON'T GIVE THE ACCURATE TIME (for what it's intended to do so)

    I'm thinking you might have a bad capacitor if it keeps dying. It should fully charge after a few hours in direct sunlight. You should be able to leave it on the windowsill for a day and be good for another 6 months. Surprised the prices have gone up so much...I think I paid $140 something for mine on Amazon last year.

  • @vast634
    @vast634 4 года назад +4

    For the rubber strap: you can make it softer by placing the strap in a coffee cup (closed and bend like on the wrist), and then filling the cup with boiling hot water. After like 20 Minutes, just flush it with cold water. The strap will be softer, and keep a nice bend.

It was an excellent watch , only thing it needed 3 batteries every 3 or so years , one day I didn’t go to my usual watch shop that takes a mount or so to fix , they did it in 30mins ... should have known better! Went swimming later watch was full of water ...... it was wrecked got a replacement watch from the shop !

    It only takes 11 hours in full sun or 25 hours on a cloudy day for a full charge. A full charge lasts between 6 & 12 months before it stops. I have several eco drives l (one which is 17 years old) and have never had one stop. (Except when I lost one in a golf bag for about 3 years & it started right up after I found it while golfing.)
    PS: it only need 3 minutes of sun for 1 day use.

    So you didn't read that No Decompression Limit chart right. So depth in Meters in white and the NDL's in goldish. So if you read it correctly ie: you can stay at 12 Meters for 200 minutes without having to do decompression and so on till you get to 45 Meters you can stay for 5 minutes before having to do what is known as Emergency decompression and having to stay out of the water for a certain period of time because you went over your NDL limits. From reading this chart I can tell you right off its quite liberal as 1) Recreational dive limit is 40 Meters (130 feet) and 2) generally most dive computers will give you a minute or two at 40 meters because of the time it takes to get to that depth, you have already accumulated nitrogen in your body making your NDL shorter. Yes I am a scuba instructor and proud of it!!!
