Jack’s video helped me decide which one to purchase. Ended up getting the 6. I to am a tall person and fit very comfortably. Love everything about the the car. To paraphrase Carletti, this Hyundai is the definition of Beautiful, where the summation of its parts works in such a way that nothing needs to be added, taken away or altered. 💚
This car looks really good and the ride/silence conveys a premium experience. The efficiency just tops it all. I have a Tesla model Y and a new Niro EV - the Niro build quality is better. So I’d have complete confidence in buying this car as a high end EV saloon and know I wouldn’t be disappointed at how it’s screwed together. Add in the 7 year warranty and it’s an automatic short list car if you’re looking for a quality EV saloon. Well done Hyundai.
Having owned an original 28kwh Ioniq that was incredibly efficient it's good to see Hyundai going for the same sort of approach here. I think an estate version of this car would be excellent.

Very good review. A few points. I think Hyundai/Kia is becoming what Citroen used to be: eye catching and technologically advanced. There’s a hint of the original DS about the back of the 6. I think an estate version of the 6 would be amazing. I think the 6 is very much a cross both visually and spiritually between a Mercedes CLS and the original Ioniq, which was amazingly slippery and efficient. Thanks. Keep the reviews coming.
Maybe thumbs up to an estate version - at half the price! I've said it a million times, tell us the height length and width of the boot, seat up and seat down! Litres is meaningless!
@@hamshackleton I found out the litreage (sorry just made that up!) of my old car which had the perfect size and shape boot for my needs and compare others to that. If they'd made this a hatch it would have been practical and pretty. Looks like that boot lid is going to drip water into the boot every time its got wet like the Tesla. Shame even though I'll never afford it. Love my used Hyundai 38kW, not the right size boot but just about working so far. Rarely get less than 5 miles per kWh often get 8!
A good review, with breathtaking Korean scenery. The Ioniq 6 grows on me with each viewing. It would be interesting to compare it more closely with the EV6 as well as the Ioniq 5, however. The EV6 is already somewhat smoother and more aerodynamic than the Ioniq 5, and owners seem to report better efficiency too. What's amazing is to have 4 such distinctive yet similarly sized cars on the e-GMP platform (GV60 included). Hyundai/Kia really are giving customers a terrific choice of relatively affordable world-class EVs right now.
It would be nearer to perfect, if it had a larger tailgate, which would be totally possible considering its form. Which seems to be the only down side, but a big one for me.
The ID Aero appears to be better in that regard, at least judging by pictures. I’d still gladly sacrifice some efficiency for an estate version of either car.

Its very reminiscent of the SAAB 96 from the side, and the SAAB 900 from the back 👌 And SAAB's thing was always aerodynamics, so that totally tracks Omg and the window switches are in the center console and it has transparent trim - it's literally a modern day SAAB, I love it
I saw a Ioniq 6 and a Taycan parked side by side both in white (along with a bunch of Teslas and Mercs) in the charging park a few days ago, and while the Taycan looks more expensive and all that, the Ioniq 6 was the one that I had the most pictures of when I got home. Very interesting design.
Great video of the fantastic Ioniq 6. I absolutely love the design of it and have great admiration for what the Hyundai engineers have managed to achieve in terms of efficiency. This car is at the top of my wish list (next is Polestar 2, then Tesla Model 3 and finally Ioniq 5) for when the lease on my Hyundai Kona EV lease ends next May. I am desperately keen to get to see one in a showroom in the UK very soon. If it's as good as you say, (and I've no reason to doubt this), I'm pretty sure the model I'll go for will be the large battery rear wheel drive variant.
@@yoric7200 Hi, could you please elaborate? The DC charging of the Ioniq 6 looks impressive. Is the Model 3 better? The numbers I have is that the Ioniq 6 charges from 10%-80% within 16mins with 200kW on average, whereas the Tesla Model 3 would take 27 minutes for the same cahrging process. The reach of the Model 3 is only slightly better, if I understand the available data correctly. I have no practical experience with Teslas.
@@The1337scientist it's not the car capabilities, it's the charging network. Obviously dependent on your country, but I live in the UK. In the UK, if you need to charge away from home, then your only option is a Tesla if you don't want to end up apoplectic.

The Original Ioniq was also extremely efficient, with many users claiming to get ~7miles per kw. I think it looks a lot like a Porsche Inspired design.
@@patreekotime4578 Eh, I disagree- the ioniq ev (original) had a very flat face with a black/silver non-grill + two light/air intakes to the sides of it. The last year it was made the flat non-grill was replaced with a big bumpy/textured fake grill that could open to increase cooling. The 6 seems to look A LOT more like a porsche with its sports car like front end, and the similar headlight bulges on the semi-top of the hood just like a Porsche 911, it's also got a more angular front end, with the same air intake grimace that a porsche has as well, instead of the original ioniq's big flat face + 2 holes to the sides. I don't mind however, its nice to finally have good looking EVs instead of god awfully ugly Leafs and boring & plain teslas.
Love that this car is not about ludicrous speed. Honestly never understood why that is a feature others play up. I want an EV that pushes range limit not racing.
Another great review from Jack but did he mention the 800v super-fast charing that the EGMP platform offers? I didn’t hear it. With the ‘6’ offering such levels of efficiency I can see a big market for the ‘small’ battery version. I never drive more than 250 km in a sitting, well within the range even in winter of the 54 kWh battery version when a 10 minute stop to use the bathroom and grab a drink could add another 100 km or more and most journeys are done. If our e-Niro could charge that fast I would happily go for a smaller (and cheaper) battery version.
The drawer is better than a glovebox because it makes it easier to get what you want. A standard glovebox has a small opening at the end, which makes it harder to locate specific items, particularly if they are in the forward end of the box. The glove-drawer slides out, making it easier to locate the desired object and retrieve it. The only thing against the Ioniq glove-drawer is that it makes it more tempting to pull things from it while the car is in motion. Other than that, its good.
The title of this video should be the statement by Jack at the end… That it is the best car in the world. I haven’t driven it, but I think it is the best looking car in the world… And Jack’s review of how nicely, smoothly and quietly it drives plus the numerous positive features indicate that Jack is right that it is the best car in the world, and certainly the best value for the dollar of any car in the world.
I currently live in Yeosu, SK, and I love the fact that if I'm going to jump in a taxi, I have a fair to middling chance I'll be getting into either an Ioniq 5, 6 or EV 6. It's car porn all over town.
Great video. Really well scripted and presented along with extraordinarily good production values. Video, music and speech perfectly and artistically synced. Nice 👌
IMHO one of the most problematic trends I see in transitioning to EVs is the the increased justification for enormous cars. We allegedly need taller cars to fit in the battery underneath the floor, we allegedly need longer cars for improved aerodynamics. The incentive to construct compact cars with intelligent packaging seems to dwindle at least in the premium segment. Manufacturers and customers alike embrace the new status quo that cars have to be large and accordingly expensive.
@@Snerdles That´s what I meant with intelligent packaging. I have a BMW i3 that is compact outside and spacious inside. Of course there should be a size for everybody. That´s why I miss the choice at the smaller end of the spectrum.
@@klausm5460 A civic is nearly 20 inches longer than a bolt and the bolt doesn't seem very popular. They don't get made much because people don't like them and the margins are lower, so it makes it not worth it for companies to make. @@Snerdles I wouldn´t even mind midsize cars like a Civic or a Kia XCeed, but those also don´t come as pure EVs. At least in Europe people bought supermini and compact cars like crazy and now that we are switching to EVs the body style of choice should only be large SUV and large saloon car? Not buying it (literally).
I just called my dealer. Pre registration opens in the UK in April next year. Allocation of the launch edition is 400 units for the UK and 2,400 for the whole of Europe. May be a nice car but it’s going to be crazy rare.
£55k for a Hyundai? Phew, it's going to have to be good otherwise it could be the death knell for Hyundai. Mind you, the basic Tesla Model 3 is now around £50k and there's thousands on the UK's roads nowadays, so maybe I'm just getting poorer... Brilliantly presented and produced video by the way, thanks Jack.
The ioniq 5 has been sold out in my area since release and they do not offer leasing because all the cars are gone to buying customers. The 6 would probably be the same, only somewhat equal is the Tesla 3, nothing else is close to it in price or shape.
Jack carefully avoided saying the 'T'-word but Teslas get all kinds of efficiency improvements with OTA updates. The others? Not so much. Maybe Hyundai have got their act together in this respect? Kudos to them if they have. The Ioniq 6 is a very impressive car and deserves to do well. It's good that other manufacturers are starting to take efficiency seriously.
@@jayarbe60 Yeah, maybe Tesla will keep it up on their own since Musk is otherwise distracted. No matter how good the Teslas are, a CEO for a company like that can't keep dividing himself based on a whim. For now, with others coming up, they'll quickly catch up and some will pass them. I agree the Hyundai looks great. And Honda and Toyota haven't yet fully entered the scene either. I think the next few years will be cool in EV development.
I play the efficiency game too. It's fun. Our EV (not a Hyundai) has managed to give us more than 7.5 miles per kWh when driven very carefully on quiet roads in Summer. Driven normally, 5.6 miles per kWh is easy to do in warm weather, giving us a range of 292 miles. Way more than Renault claim that it can do. In Winter, we see about 4.8 in dry weather.
Please can you include rear seat foot space in your reviews. When test driving a few EVs I noticed that many have the front seat close to the floor with no room for your feet under the seat. This means even though there is lots of knee space your legs are in effect locked at one angle making it very uncomfortable on a longer journey. I regularly drive with four adults in the car and so this was important. The Polestar2, Ioniq 5 and EV6 were high on my potential buying list until we sat in the back and there was no foot space. The Ioniq6 looks the same. Not a biggy but may be important to some buyers.
Would be very interested in the smaller battery RWD version. As it's so quick to rapid charge, you don't need the range. Better be more efficient than 4.4 though as my Kona does. 4.6. Also is it LFP?
This is giving a pause to the rest of the industry. Sure, expensive, but it shows that there are no more excuses for not inverting at full tilt to EVs. It's not just Tesla anymore, all the Chinese and now Korean EVs will eat German, Japanese, and Detroit lunches.
@@SC-or2zb not always but they are now and US has ford lightning, Electic bummer, and electric charger now. Even tough this is a really nice car, buying an electric car is pretty much impossible for most pockets, i personally believe that the real "revolutionary design" will come in the form of a cheap, compact car with a minimal amount of adas that most people can actually affoard (also remember that here in Europe we're about to hit a recession, in some countries such as Italy most people won't have money for a new car at all)

I find your "stop burning things" campaign, which I whole heartedly support, incompatible with the jet setting reporting of your presenters. Surely new car reviews should be limited to UK available cars or at a push European cars (provided you take the train).
Exactly. And doing live shows flying the presenters all over the globe to those feels slightly hypocritical too; why not just use screens if you absolutely have to have all the personalities present at all shows? At least it's mostly Americans doing stuff in the US and then there's that one guy who apparently lives in China even though he's a westerner.
Hmm. So where possible & applicable, use local presenters like Elliot in China - and/or Ricky in the US (plus I think there are others)? The very occasional trip to showcase new designs from leading manufacturers is wholly worth it, imo.
My wife has a Sorento PHEV, it's only supposed to get ~2.3mi/kWh but she averages ~3mi/kWh. edit: I'm interested in the N version of this; Kia/Hyundai are killing it lately.
man I really love the style of the car despite its egg like features. its nice and still functional. and i think the host described perfectly that hyundai is not just producing bigger versions or smaller versions of the same car and thats so refreshing. too many brands are simply producing babies from their suv designs. volvo, bmw, are some of the biggest offenders on this. hyundai refreshing? i never thought i'd say that but its the less lazy approach that feels nice and new here.
Honestly, that review might just as well have been the Tesla Model 3. Good to see an automaker actually executing on what Tesla have been openly saying for years. Hyundai has a place in the future auto market. ❤ PS: the 230v/110v AC outlet is a terrible inefficient power source for your work if your laptop is a newer model with USB-C power connection. The DC-AC-DC conversion induces a big power loss. Better to have a USB-C power connection. However still very convenient to have the outlet for other purposes. 👍
Thankyou for covering efficiency and at motorway/highway speeds. This is a HUGE factor in my decision matrix. I do 95% of a 138mile commute on the motorway and WLTP doesn’t take that in to account on a EV in the same way an ICE performs. I see my best ICE efficiency at 60-65 mph. But EVs are drastically different. Especially if not as aerodynamic as can be. This is not published and I’m glad I didn’t purchase an ID4 52kwh as I simply couldn’t do my commute in cold weather in that without charging. Similarly with any 200 mile range EV. How you use an EV has never been so important when shopping at the lower end of the market
This is the electric car I have been waiting for, it's gorgeous, looks comfy, good range and efficiency. Fingers crossed in 3-4 years these are available and cheaper on the second hand market.

I really really really love this car. Just like the Ioniq 5. They both have a distinct personality and I love that. The unfortunate thing is that I'm going to need to get myself at least one promotion at work before I can even consider getting either one of these :D
same😂
Jack’s video helped me decide which one to purchase. Ended up getting the 6. I to am a tall person and fit very comfortably. Love everything about the the car. The one thing not covered in the video is the whirring sound the car makes under 25mph. Once you get over 25 the sound goes away. I recently learned it’s required in North America and was easy to get used to.
To paraphrase Carletti, this Hyundai is the definition of Beautiful, where the summation of its parts works in such a way that nothing needs to be added, taken away or altered. 💚
It looks like a mix between a Saab and a Citroen. I guess it's the perfect car for a architekt.
As an architect, I totally agree with you!
Or a beetle and a merkur love triangle gone wrong. 😀
I thought that when I saw it, there’s a bit of Saab 900 to the rear end.
Citroën C6 as much she would have been modern nowadays with e-tech.
Even the window switches is in the center console like the Saab 9-5.
Buy a Subaru save your self the headache
I like it! Very few people are talking about how Hyundai is setting up to become one of the best EV companies in the world.
Oh, I don't know about that! In the EV world they have had huge respect for a long time and their newer models appear to build on that.
Having owned an original 28kwh Ioniq that was incredibly efficient it's good to see Hyundai going for the same sort of approach here. I think an estate version of this car would be excellent.
Still driving around in our Ioniq 28 and getting insane efficiency - 250km+ range from 28kwh battery! - so can't wait to get into a 6.
Me too but I can't accept that sedan trunk, they should just have given it a large tailgate and I would have bought it
Now I think I will end up with the Kia Niro EV, it's smaller which is fine and with comparable efficiency unless you are driving really fast.
@@joeyjeremiahkkf me too and I'm having a hard time finding my next EV, I just want my Ioniq with a bit more battery and some towing ability and I would be fine!
Best review of the ioniq 6 I have seen yet. Jack is an awesome presenter
I'm currently on a 10 month probation for my new job. Once I get through it my first purchase I'd going to be an Ionic 5. Already saved enough to do it just waiting for that reason to reward myself 🤞🏾
And hopefully there will be a new version by then
I’m holding out for one more year to get an electric because so many new ones are coming out in the next year, but currently, the Ionic 5 is in the lead
@@EdwardsNH ya. Another reason I don't mind the wait is because we seem to be in the era of a lot of new EVs. Giving it a few years for review is not a bad idea. I also really like the Ford lightning and the Honda E.
All the best!
It reminds me of how Citroen used to make luxury cars. Often beautiful design and a different approach to the dominant German manufacturers. This really plays to the strengths of an EV.
First time I have seen one of your car reviews and I am really impressed. You have an easy manner in your presentation which is relatable to us normal drivers. I look forward to more of your reviews.
Jack is also brilliant! Instead of Fully Charged losing me as a subscriber after Johnny left I now just have two great channels to follow and watch.
This is giving me CLS and Porsche vibes.
No bad thing!

Yeah CLS / Saab 900 back awesome
I got 4.50 miles/kWh average over 20000 km (winter+summer; 180 km/h on autobahn from time to time) on my model 3 for comparison.
Good results, better than most, if not all, reviewers I've seen. We will have to see what the Ioniq 6 can do in the real world. The tests should be happening soon.

We dont all want suv’s and saloon cars. Build ev hatch back that are large and estate cars
I’ve been saying that for a while now. PSA mostly making fugly suv crap, where Hyundai made the Veloster. Everything is upside down!
The snag with low roof aero shapes is the lower rear ceiling height to carry the door frame and hinges. An estate version would be awesome.
Best review of this car.
I watch it over and over while waiting for mine.
It would be nearer to perfect, if it had a larger tailgate, which would be totally possible considering its form. Which seems to be the only down side, but a big one for me.
Yeah. A non-hatch rear is pretty-much a deal-breaker on an otherwise excellent car.
💯
They should make an estate version.
@@colinbouckaert3450 Well their design chief talked about a potential shooting brake version publicly, but nothing seems to be confirmed, yet.
The ID Aero appears to be better in that regard, at least judging by pictures. I’d still gladly sacrifice some efficiency for an estate version of either car.
What I really want is an Ionic 6 estate.
Excellent review and a really impressive car. Well done team Hyundai for style, performance and efficiency
The visual design of this car is my favorite of any car buy any company in the last 20 years. It is beautiful and cool looking.
Your comment… Bloody Fantastic!!! Says it all - as I listened to this most engaging, compelling and enthralling review of a vehicle that obviously astounds even you. You sold this vehicle to me although I may not be able to afford it at this time - Already! I’ve been watching the previews as this particular model was being rolled out to the public and must say sir, yours is the one that captivates me the most! Again you sold it to me and if I could afford it now I would get it or order it now. The way you pointed out certain small things that others have not is one of the points that caught my attention - thank you, well done! This seems like a very honest and personal review of the Hyundai Ionic 6.
Good review, Jack. I don't know that I totally like the body style of the 6, but "fully" understand why it looks as it does. It seems that maybe now, the model 3 has some real competition. Will be nice to see a real world comparison of the 6 and the 3, some day soon. Good job. And, I like your new personal daper look as well.
I still prefer the ionic 5… Space inside any vehicle is important to me, especially on long stints.😊
Love the looks and the aerodynamics!! Efficiency is what we should be aiming for
Sure beats the poor aerodynamics of Tesla's flat nosed cars.
@@DetroitMicroSound That makes no sense. Every Tesla model has a drag coefficient of 0.23 or below with the S having a better coefficient than even the Ioniq6 at 0.208

Great video Jack and the crew! I really like the Ioniq 6. It feels like something thats not really comparable to the rest of the automotive world. I know this is a far stretch, but the Lexus LC500 is one of those cars for me. Its in a bubble with no real comparable opponents. They are not bothered with competing with the germans or americans. They are something different, thats on another sphere. Its refreshing and interesting.
Agreed! The LC is one of those cars that has to be seen (and driven… and heard) to really appreciate its uniqueness. No other car on the road like it.
Jake, thank you for a great review. Really nice car. Too rich for me. Your review of the Mircrolino shows my ideal, but those wanting more this is the same vein. Great design and ease of use.
What we need is something between the 6 and the Microlino!
This channels just about the best on cars, and also renewable lining ...

You might have to move to China for that.
He's right. We really needed a major manufacturer to give us a low drag design without the sexy wide wheels that increase friction. brilliant review. I am 6ft 7 inches so really relevant to me.
To be, current model of Ioniq "5" is the best looking model to me. Especially the front/rear light design is so awesome to my eyes.
As someone with an original (2021) Ioniq Electric, I feel the same way driving it. Always had a heavy foot but getting 5.2 mi/kwh makes me want to try and eek out more. I feel like they tried to go back to the roots of the Ioniq with the efficiency of the 6.
Not sure I really like the shape, but the Ionic line in general is a pretty wild and fun series of cars. I'm still just waiting for that N Vision 74 concept to hit production in a few years. I won't be able to stop myself from buying it!
I'm waiting for the Ioniq 6 N. Vision 74 is amazing, but for some reason my mind is wanting the I6N more.
Hey Jack,
Quick question for you: with all the EVs that you've had a chance to look at over the past few months, what has you the most excited or impressed? If you were buying a vehicle in the next 3-6 months, what vehicle would you buy and why? If you'd rather put your name on a waitlist for something not yet available, what would you get?
No budget? i7 looks nice.
Taycan or EQS for me (yes I know one is performance vs luxury but those are my choices if I had no budget).
If there was an award for individual RUclips episodes this, would get a nomination.
Everything brilliant about a Jack rEView plus a superb looking car.
Windows Switches in middle is something I love in my old Saab. Makes perfectly sense to allow the passenger to operate all windows.
my guess would be that there is a pressure sensor in the seat to disable those buttons when someone is sitting there, so those siblings are out of luck.

i kinda hate that i have no use for a car, i love electric cars! :)
Great to see Hyundai is back in the efficiency game. Just like the Model 3 is seems. We often get more than 4.4 miles/kWh in summer in our Tesla Model 3 LR.
Yeah I usually get 5 miles per kwh
Its very reminiscent of the SAAB 96 from the side, and the SAAB 900 from the back 👌 And SAAB's thing was always aerodynamics, so that totally tracks
Omg and the window switches are in the center console and it has transparent trim - it's literally a modern day SAAB, I love it

Finally, a real car, from a reliable manufacturer
I saw a Ioniq 6 and a Taycan parked side by side both in white (along with a bunch of Teslas and Mercs) in the charging park a few days ago, and while the Taycan looks more expensive and all that, the Ioniq 6 was the one that I had the most pictures of when I got home. Very interesting design.
if they went for the wild bumper lip design on the prototype design it would be golden. well n version is coming we will wait.
Because you can have 3 Ioniq 6 for the the price of 1 Taycan, ha,ha.
I loved the Ioniq 5 but this, this is exactly what I would have dreamed about. An ultra efficient, coupé style Ioniq 5. I'm gonna buy one.
0.21 CD, I'd like to see such drag coefficient on a smaller 4.4-4.5m car like first-gen Prius dimensions.
i wonder if that would be harder, the big slopey back is going to be helping aero and presumably adding length.
Loving my original Ioniq (the 28 kWh model) for it's efficiency - but this car takes it another level
Thanks for your in depth review… love your comments… thanks for noticing so many things that our teams truly “dug deep on”… best wishes from Seoul!!!
If you need to regularly charge on trips, then Model 3 is the only option. If not, then the Ioniq 6 looks like a complete winner.

It still has a bit of the original Ioniq in the front I feel.

SO in love that I'm considering to buy it!
😳 £54,000 - Eyewateringly expensive 😮
Jack, very positive review - the "e" word is so important. E for electric, E for efficient, E for environment- thanks, Eamon
Do you think car parking spaces will get bigger??
Yes, indeed. People like their cars to be useful for more than just squeezing in to uncomfortably.
If people buy tons of them they would get made because volume could make up for the profit per vehicle.

Shows how overpriced this actually is. Its a nice car but not 55k nice. 45k at most
It is good; we’ve had ours for a year. Model 3 was too small and didn’t tow. Ive done 29,000km and still like it.
"death knell for Hyundai" is a little exaggerated I think as Hyundai just became the third largest auto manufacturer in the world
The ioniq 5 has been sold out in my area since release and they do not offer leasing because all the cars are gone to buying customers.
The 6 would probably be the same, only somewhat equal is the Tesla 3, nothing else is close to it in price or shape.
You say Porsche 911. I'd say Saab 900 Turbo.

Looks great. Do EVs get any sort of efficiency improvements with firmware updates? Newer to the bandwagon and haven't jumped in with a purchase yet.
Totally agree. An EV which is good in mileage. Love it. Looks awesome.
You shouldn't have to worry about mileage in a car that expensive. That is why battery powered EVs are a technological dead end amongst other reasons.

Honestly, that review might just as well have been the Tesla Model 3. Good to see an automaker actually executing on what Tesla have been openly saying for years. Hyundai has a place in the future auto market. ❤
PS: the 230v/110v AC outlet is a terrible inefficient power source for your work if your laptop is a newer model with USB-C power connection. The DC-AC-DC conversion induces a big power loss.
That boot entry is tiny though, no chance of getting a wheelchair back there, maybe we'll see an estate version? Probably doubtful?
