    Thanks for having us back in the hot seat! I don't expect any awards for a relatively minor fix (albeit in a non-traditional workspace), the real story is that the NSX community is awesome and helped us go from limping to hot-lapping in less than 48 hours, 2300 miles from home. You buy an NSX because the car is awesome, you keep it for 15+ years because the people are awesome (I mean, the car is still fun too).

      @@chrisfurlough466 Definitely a blast to drive. Some very unique elements and intense elevation changes that made for a steep learning curve but very rewarding to get right.

      I used to live in PDX, but recently built a home just a few miles outside of Morrow county to escape Portland for obvious reasons haha.

      @@trashgarbageoffroad 🙌 Thanks! Yeah, the areas we ended up in south of Portland and in the Mt. Hood / Columbia River valley etc were gorgeous. We drove close enough to the city to get a glimpse of why we didn't want to visit at the time.

    Love the Rallying support from the NSX owners. Reminds me a LOT of the Subaru community. They often toss parts at each other expecting nothing in return, EVEN when they are actually competing against that person in a rally stage. Could sit on their parts and such and let the other person just drop off the leader board but no, they give them parts and hope they can race at their best. The Real People... You know who you are. Much love.

    Love seeing this!
    When I was staff photographer at Road & Track back in the 80s and 90s, I drove an NSX to Fort Stockton from SoCal for our World’s Fastest Cars article, and to drive on Firestone’s test track there. I drove straight through and when I arrived, I was surprised how comfortable that car was on such a long trip! These are amazing cars and since it’s a Honda, I’m not surprised to see so many miles on them after all this time.

    318,000 miles? That speaks volumes on how great these machines are built. Sure you're on top of the routine stuff, but it's mind blowing that this high performance car can do that many miles without a new engine or two. Great story!

    great story. the only thing i dont understand is why didnt you put a tow basket with a spare set of tires on the back so you don't have to track your daily tires. it shows how community support goes a very very long way

    • @LapoftheWorld
      @LapoftheWorld 7 месяцев назад

      I just leave a set of 200tw spicy-street-tires on the car. Early in my ownership it was a cost thing, then I realized I'm getting 10k miles out of a set even with some track use and most of the time I'm driving to/from a track anyway. Hard to make sense of spending $$$$ on another set of wheels, $$$ on another set of tires, and then trying to figure out a non-jank way of fitting a hitch (there isn't really an off the shelf answer for the NSX). The emergency set of all seasons we bought in CO, I later sold in pairs for probably 70% of purchase price with only 2k miles on them.

    I swapped a rear diff on my 02' WRX in my apartment driveway. Before I bought The WRX I looked at a Supra and a NSX. Back in 2001 these cars used weren't that expensive. My then wife said why are you spending that much on a used car when you can buy a new one. No longer with her.

    In Australia these are the Honda NSX and been a Honda these are a reliable super car apart from a split in the CV joint and a lot of support from the NSX community all fixed in a couple of hours and over 300000 miles for a European supercar that's a lot but not for a Honda NSX that's nothing l do consider Honda one of the best motor manufacturers in the world

    Much is said about how the NSX compared to ferrari (and other super cars in general) and the corvette at it's launch. But if any of those cars of the same era had an issue like that mid ralley it would very likely have been the end of the trip.
