Terrible design on these c/k series blower motor locations. That's a ridiculous amount of stuff to mess with to change a motor that you can kick when sitting in the passenger seat. Whatcha gonna do though 😆

Yeah the engineers didn’t think that one through very well on these early obs truck. The square bodies is super easy on the outside. They should have made it a little lower or at an angle to get the motor out to do a simple job without having to do all that. It really looks like a pain.

Thanks. I have a 95 and I just pulled the cover apart a bit and unscrewed the screws and pulled the motor out without messing with the ECU and plate.

Some motors don’t come with blower. And you need to use your old one. If you never done it it can be hard. You have to be careful. You can break the fan. It has to be done right. Hold onto the fan carefully and hit the pin out with a heavy hammer or small sledge hammer. H regular hammer will just bounce off the pin. At some point you can just slide it the rest of the way. And installing takes a bit of force but you can do it. Try to use even force and not pull too much on one side. Thanks for the video. It’s great to watch it done again before I do it again for the 10th time at least on my 25 year old truck.

  • @MartyrSmoke

Hey TRQ. I just did this. As per your instructions. Almost to the T.
But the motor only comes on on high.
I hear a click when I hit low and medium. But no response from the motor.
Do you know if there is some kind of relay that controls the motors speed apart from the motor?
I'm looking online now. Figured I ask the source first.
Almost the same exact truck in the video. Color. Near all of the placements. 1992 Suburban K2500.

Replace your resister. It’s on top of the box right behind the relays above the glove box.

Thanks to this video I've replaced the blower. Didn't touch the dash though. Also used this opportunity to replace that damn actuator hiding near the firewall (*&^%$&&^$$%&&). What a pain.
Now it's dark and rainy. Grabbing the headlamp to go reassemble

I am in midst of this project on my 1988 3500. I next need to loosen the dash to get the blower out; thanks for showing the fasteners that need to be removed. I did not remove the computer shelf; I will see if that is OK. Unmating the computer connectors was easier after the computer was pulled free from the clips and rotated towards the glovebox hole. My blower has one orange wire (+12V); I am not sure where it gets grounded. Hopefully, the ground will be apparent once I have the blower out of there. Thanks

Yeah believe my blower has went out. When I first bought the truck the floor was working but I had to hit it to get it started. I would turn the AC on on the dash and it wouldn't come on then I would tap the blower underneath the dash and it would come on that's not even doing that

I am so glad I found this video. I just paid a little over $900 to have my compressor replaced in my 1991. Was working fine for a couple weeks but just started making a screeching sound and minimal air coming out of the vents. Gonna give this a try before taking it back up to the auto shop. Thank you for all these videos! Great step by step instructions.

Most heater cores are in the same housing as the a/c evaporator. The freon has to be evacuated

My cover just fell to pieces so I threw it away. Don’t know if I should buy another one or just leave it. So i can bolt the motor up if I put the computer and tray back?

  • @TheBasedFarmer
    @TheBasedFarmer Год назад

excellent video! my only bit of construction criticism that could have made it even better would have been if you mentioned the size of each bolt as you were removing/reinstalling them. thank you for making the job a lot easier than it would have been had i went in blind.
