I Bought a "FAKE" Nintendo DSi... (the screen fell off)

- So I bought another "Fake" Nintendo console from Wish (got a Nintendo DSi this time)... this one is extremely questionable. The internals are likely real, but the outer casing is fake and the build quality is extremely poor, even for fake casing. Wish never fails to amaze me... Nintendo would not approve. 😉

Was it worth $73??
No
No
Hell no it's not even worth $50
$7.30
lol the screen fell off its worth 50 euro or so lol
I like how they sent Mario maker stickers with a system that came out well before the Wii U.
And the Mario artwork is slightly stretched. x)
mmm yes mario maker, my favorite dsi game
There's mario maker on the 3ds maybe they were hoping that would confuse people into thinking it's a 3ds
@@ntr_wiigee Nintendo actually wanted to release Super Mario Maker first on the DS then on Wii, then they realized that it wouldn’t run on the DS or even on the DSi (when starting the game the DS and DSi would freeze at a white screen) and it would run at 10 FPS on Wii at 480p so they let Mario Maker wait until the next console, the Wii U and then the 3DS. In the dark web you can buy a Super Mario Maker cartridge (there were only around 700 cartridges produced in the whole world) for the DS for around 5 million $ and the Wii one for 2-3 million $ (there were only around 3000 discs produced in the whole world).
Of course this is a joke, not real.
Who cares. At least they are shipping out stuff that's affordable.
Fun fact, I actually won a Nintendo DSi from a key master arcade game one time lol (I think that was around 2012)
Not bad haha how much did you put into the machine?
Well I got it on my first try I think, but then I tried like another $20 worth thinking that I could win again lol. Didn't work out
@@jrob0021 still not bad haha
I won a 2ds on key master in 2017 I put 45$ into it
@@dman4435 60 dollars aint too bad
I love how they included an R4 card and took the label off of it
Yes, is amazing!
Is that an actual R4? Mine's UI looks nothing like that one, even this is extremely barebones.
@@N_manMETA11 Fake one
its a ace card different thing but basicly a fake r4 card
@@beratberyy8444 95% of R4 cards today are fake

Poor kid got this broken DSi as a present :(
No, the kid probably got this DSi's motherboard in its original, Nintendo-approved, casing. It was probably only after the kid lost possession of it that it was gutted and rehoused in this...monstrosity of a case.
It was probably the kid that broke the Dsi in the first place and then sold it
you mean aaron?
Essentially they just sent a re-shelled DSi rebuilt into a low-quality shell. Sure, it's genuine hardware, but... eh? Would make for a fun rebuild project, even if the price is a bit high...
It's godly compared to bootleg devices though...
Most bootleg DS play like broken nes-clones, broken Gameboys, or like a Game-and-Watch..... These fake-shelled handhelds with ligitimate hardware have actual potential though. They also seem less likely to be a fire hazard... (Though to be fair, most bootleg devices aren't that much more likely to combust. Unfortunately, the outliers that do are extremely unlikely to have safety features that prevent extra damage.)
@Adriano Cheap, and also doubled as a fun project!
Usually that's the case for bootlegs. It's not often to see geniuine hardware being re-sold refurbed as new. lol
@Adriano Righteous!
@@steventechnoOH MY GOD YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE THE GMOD FURNITURE AND ELECTRONICS MOD OMG I'M A HUGE FAN OF THOSE MODS
Quick update, I just sold this console on my website and as I was about to ship it out, I found out it has parental controls enabled!! SMH. But luckily the passcode was “1234” lol

I have a Nintendo DSi that I’ve gotten for a round 200$ during the release.
And then a few years later, the price drops lol
of course it would its like 12 years old
i got one lended to me by my cousin free of charge
Again, It is a real US Nintendo DSi that was re-cased, shipped with an R4 and glued really badly.
Fair enough with the "3rd party" vs "fake" thing. Many people get "reproduction" shells that are as close to the original as possible, to replace the beat-up shell of their own console, or a "custom" shell that's typically exactly the same shape but in colors that the original was never available in (or even clear which can look cool as-is or can be hand painted on the inside to make it truly custom). But the low-quality shells you see on these Wish systems are really only bought by people looking to pass off a janky beat-up system as a nearly mint condition one; or by people who think they're getting a quality reproduction shell and are immediately disappointed when they open it.
Also, I am now somewhat leery of fake chargers. I bought a (real, used) DSi XL off eBay, and it came with a 3rd party charger. I tried the charger and it worked. But later I was using my 3DS and using that charger since DSi and 3DS use the same chargers. All was well until I rebooted the 3DS and got a blue bootrom error screen like what happens when the logic board inside it is damaged. I tried to boot it a few more times and still got the error screen. I started to panic, my 3DS was suddenly broken. Then I unplugged the charger and tried it again, and it suddenly worked flawlessly. I realized the charger I was using didn't have a Nintendo logo on it, got out a real charger, and it boots up fine with that plugged in. Now I'm worried that using that charger long term could damage systems, so I've drawn a red X on it since it looks almost identical to a real charger at a glance, and tossed it in a drawer.
Yeah, I try not to mess with non oem chargers. Power supplies are no joke to mess around with
Good lord that's pitiful.. an authentic DSi is around 50 average
Yup it's a piece of junk lol. I knew it wouldn't be good, but this was really bad
It's $20 in my country
@@PrinzEugen39 its 300 bucks in my country
I got a old 3ds with original hardware but different shell on wish, but it was actually really good quality.
The Atari emulator there is 'Stella' which is for Atari 2600 mostly. Hope that helps! It would be rather difficult to see some of the emulators games working too well on so small a screen though. I'm not sure about how well they do or don't work. I guess you can find other videos of people reviewing those. As I don't have the console myself I don't know much else about it. It's a shame they messed up the top screen though. With regards the memory card slot, you could glue that back on if required. I agree the build quality is poor though.
Honestly, the worst part is the shallow buttons. I didn't realize quite how bad they were until I started trying to play Nintendogs at the end of the video and it just felt wrong lol
I like how the wireless LED is green when its usually supposed to be yellow
Those DSi buttons are roughly where they should be. As soon as you said they were shallow, I looked behind me to look at my collection and, sure enough, it was shallower than both the DS and Ds lite
I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't house the board correctly with the buttons hence why they are more shallow.
Good point, might open it up and see what's up in there
The buttons are supposed to be like that on the DSi. They might be a little but more shallow on that reshelled version, but it's not much different.
SP, DS, DSi and 3DS buttons are shallower than GBA and DS Lite ones. They gradually moved to clicky buttons with shorter travel, I'm guessing because they can make a folding clamshell case more easily that way. They probably take a few milliseconds less from when you want to push a button to when the game gets the button press, making them better for gaming as well.
But the ones he has definitely look a bit shallower than real DSi and 3DS buttons. They shouldn't be difficult to press because of it either. I'd guess either they made the shell plastic slightly thicker, or didn't make the top of the buttons as rounded.
The screen fell off I already saw the title and was like "there we go", it really looks like a piece of junk that surprisingly still works xD Not being negative but really, no way this is worth $73 XD
the screen dindt even fall off, its just the lens which obviously came off becuase of the way the ''screenfilm'' got pulled off. those lens are attached with doublesided sticky tape to the screen.
Glad to see someone else who still uses XD
i think the dsi buttons ARE actually just that shallow, they are like that on my DSi XL
Yeah had a DSi handy the guy in the video somehow annoys me with his lack of knowledge regarding these things
@@bugs2814 some people dont want to save useless information in their heads like how shallow freaking L and R buttons are.
@@gamingnubs7628 it would at least help to know what you are talking about when you are reviewing a console based on its similarity to the original
@@psiangel ahh yes, because the shallowness of buttons REALLY is needed for a review. Mmm hmm.
@@bugs2814 yes, the DSi buttons are shallow, but not as shallow as the console in this video. I've had my hands on multiple DSi consoles in the past.
If the internals are real and they just changed the case, buttons, screen etc with after market parts. They should call it refurbished and let people know what has been changed. DSI actually uses SD memory cards not microSD. What you got is an unbranded Flashcart. A DS cartridge with microSD card slot that allows you to play emulators and DS game images from the included 4gb memory card.
the internals are real. nobody have replicated dsi motherboard and code yet
Actually you can use a micro SD to SD card reader to use them also you can run custom stuff from SD no flash card required now :)
I have a DSi and those buttons at the very least look like they stick out when not pressed the same amount, but I assume it doesn't go down as far when pressed as my real DSi.
I’d rather by a nasty official Dsi from a yard sale than that lazy piece of crap excuse
Agreed
This is just a cheap refurbish. Which is exactly what you expect from a wish "new" product. But the lense of the top screen coming off is unacceptable tbh. The rest is all exactly what you would expect. You also can't find a decent used DSi for $70 that has a functioning hinge, full working top and bottom screen that don't have water/age damage, the styles, and fully functioning buttons. You can't even build one for that cheap on eBay lots.
tbh i didn't even expect it to have the legit ds operating system 🤣
its just a re shelled real dsi
@@MrJ0mmy I’m so sick of these “fake” vids where it’s literally just a re shelled one it’s so irritating
@@alfiegordon9013 very poorly reshelled but I get where you're coming from. I see these as more a warning not to buy from Wish since you can buy a used DSi much cheaper.
@@alfiegordon9013 yeah me too
I expected to see a NES long list when he turned it on lol
The DSi buttons are supposed to be like that. Maybe the ones in that shell are very very slightly lower than a regular DSi but the DSi buttons do not protrude as much as the DS Lite. I was comparing the DSi in front of me with the reshelled one you were looking at and it's very similar
Still not a great deal overall. Used DSis in good condition are $40-$50, and the flashcart it came with (generic Ace3DS+ clone) costs about $15-$20 depending on where you buy it.
Thank God. I just got a used DSi for Christmas and the buttons were kinda shallow-er than I expected. Good to know that that's normal.
The DSI buttons are low compared to other DS buttons, but the one in this video looks BAD. The buttons weren't installed properly and looks stuck, definitely not normal.
If I'm getting a fake case I want it to be one of those Zelda ones.
The special edition cases most of the time suck.
8:18 i swear i hear something.
An alien krrrrrr-ing?
_Bro, u keep an alien in ur house?_ 💀
I been checking u out and u seem pretty interesting so I subbed to u bro 👍 keep it up
I replaced my dsi shell with the exact kind of case like that and I too was surprised by how shitty the quality of it is
When I get the notification from this guy I already now he's gonna be roasting wish lol
3:40 "Let's go ahead and slice this open" completely demolishes the bag lol
That touch screen cover is badly out of alignment too!
Oh, the Pokemon games that 'Wish' advertised are on the SD card... I have a similar card to that (208-in-1) and it comes with all the DS Pokemon games.....
"let's slice this open"
Proceeds to rip it off.
I wish I wish I WISH wasn't a scam company.
14:30 Probably the best game you could choose to test, mad respect
“Let’s go ahead and slice this open”
*rips off the tape instead of slicing it*
The DSI actually does have very shallow buttons unlike the NDS lite so i dont think thats a poorly reproduced part, the rest of it does seem really bad though
I would actually like these if they used the same type of plastic that the real dsi used. And where more high quality and produced the motherboard themselves so the dsi would basically be put back in production
I dunno if it's just my screen but the lights on the wifi and power status thing definitely look fake. The wifi is supposed to be orange/yellow and the power is supposed to be blue
the nintendo DSi has different buttons, that´s why the DS light buttons are taller, so that is normal.
I think the internals of the console are original (unless something was broken and the seller changed it) the only thing that is different is the case and probably the battery. It comes with a R4 with roms wich is nice but you can get a DSi and one of those R4 clones for less
Agree that the DSi buttons are natively more shallow, but these are even more shallow than a normal DSi
Doesn't have to be a fake serial number it could just be reprinted, could you check to see if it matches what it says in settings
I really wanna watch this, but I can't tell if it's just me where I'm getting an ad every minute or so.
Its gotta a fully modded dsi software cause that main menu looks extremely legit if it was "custom"
its real just reshelled
Can't wait for your website to launch
Soon

The loose hinge is debatable. All my ds-3ds suffered the same fate. The screen eventually gave out. Rip
"What's the difference between this and a real DSi?"
"Well the front doesn't fall off, for one thing!"
my animator side: try to see if there's flipnotes in there 👀
I love how you describe this is fake bc it's shoddily made. People say the same about the 2ds xl (that's its feels cheap), and after getting one recently, holy moly, i understand what those people mean. Still a hell of a lot better than whatever you're holding
Interestingly the speaker holes don’t have the fabric mesh so you can see the speakers beneath. Also when you opened the camera there was some photos in the system memory.
Jacob R buys Ds to realize it was actually a super old ds with the screen falling off
1:52 uncharted just chilling there,epic
I mean I guess it does the job, even comes with a r4 card. the r4 is probably timebombed anyways
please check your audio for low frequency sounds and try and limit the volume of them! i have quite wide sounding headphones and the thudding of things touching the table or rustling the mic was very distracting.
regardless of this issue this vid was interesting and good, just very distracting with the thumpy noises
And another thing that was off the power button was red not gray the original power button is gray and I know that because I have a black original Nintendo DSI Myself
I took care of my entire Valheim farm while watching this.
Wow it’s in perfect condition I’ll have to buy one of those
Oh! I’m late but cool vid my dude! More sketchy-sus incoming!
You should check out the “Nintendo DS mL”. It’s real original DS but it’s been reshelled in a case with the same form factor of a DS lite. They’re really large but tbh very interesting.
To quote an old vine. My screen fell off
I would call a product designed to look like a product fake but a replacement components designed to look like the wouldn't be fake. It's just an alternative option designed to look like the original for replacement parts.
I imagine the manufacturer decided to refurbish thousands of dsi's and calling re-newed new is a big stretch, but it's china.
LMAOOOOO YO DON'T THINK THAT WASN'T GONNA BE NOTICED AT 8:18 XDDD
Your stomach growled so clearly Nintendo of Japan probably heard it LOL!
So it’s just a reshelled dsi with an R4 card? Seems like a good deal to me.
depends on how soon the timebomb or whatever will happen, from what ive heard about them
@@bluegem8582 With those all you gotta do is redownload the menu data onto the Micro SD and you can download your Roms back
it's a terrible case and it could fall apart.
Hmm...
I actually have a branded version of that flash card, its seems like a bootleg version of a R4 SDHC dual core card.
Probably has a time bomb like all the bootlegs and won’t work in a year
I got an og Nintendo DS for $15 on ebay and at least it was a good used unit
Dang $15? Great price
Finding out that the og owner of the dsi before the cheap shell was put on them was just a kid who got one for Christmas by their parents makes me sad. Like, imagine that your a kid on Christmas and opening a present from Santa and getting a DSi, something you've always wanted. : ( God I hate seeing old things from children wasted into rubbish
Also the camera is supposed to be crappy
This is why you should never trust wish a website that tried to scam you like only a person who doesn't know video games like parents will fall for it
i have a DSi XL and i am very happy with it.Its a piece of history!
“I knew it was a scam and they sent me nothing so I knew it was a scam and wanted my money back” 😂
The game on the sd card is ace3ds. They make more of these sd cards on amazon. Their sd cards are disguised as other games, like their 208-in-1 game is called spongebob atlantis squarepantis or something like that. Pretty sure you add games to the game boy & atari section but it comes with ds games. They mainly make their sd cards for new 3ds (compatible with ds & 3ds).
3:21 bruh that play, create, share, slogan is literally from little big planet not Mario maker 😂
8:17 omg was that you stomach or chair? i was XD huh
Seems like the real dsi millimeter feels with the batman and need for speed game
If you don’t wanna watch it’s exactly a dsi in a worse shell the screen doesn’t fall off
“Ok let’s go ahead and slice it open”. Continues to rip it open with his heads
DSi buttons are tactile so they don't stick out as much as the membrane ones on the DS Lite
Not even Ebay is completely risk free- bought a second hand but fully refurbished 3ds XL last year.
It looks great and even turns on- the screens are perfect, but the casing feels off- it is made of the brittle "gold plastic" and the buttons under the bottom screen stick sometimes.
The inside is original- but it is a region locked Aruba/Barbados islands system- none of my games work- and I can't change the region.
Beware
If you see this, mod it and you can change the region
The stylus not fitting perfectly gave it away for me
It's kind of ironic how they put Super Mario maker stickers for the DSi but it can't even run Super Mario Maker.
I mean, considering any old DS 'round here goes for $100 without an R4 card, that's... an alright deal.
Seriously? It cost only US$30 for a DSi here in Hong Kong. For US$100 I can buy a New 3DS XL.
it looks like they are using a plastic film you typicly put on books to protect the cover
did they just put the bios on it?
Those ads tho they are perfectly placed with the space
Tbh of this was an official Nintendo product made properly, I would buy it. A DS coming with stickers is a cute concept.
Yeah if only the stickers were nice quality lol. I could tell these were just printed off of some dudes regular printer. They just felt subpar
For 73 bucks, you could have went to a brothel and had a good time.
does the website ship internationaly example to europe or?
9:48 this card has a modified version of ace3ds which is like an r4 card thing
It’s just a reshell
I have an DSi from Nintendo and I think the Button-Hight from Wish is the Same as the Pokemon White exclusive DSi
It's a regular DSi with new cheap shell, You can also buy it on Ali etc.
When you flipped the back and I see the Nintendo logo
whats the fake ps controller called
Replace the housing..you can find good quality replacements..
So this is basicaly a bunch of replacement parts (and a R4 Card) put together in a cheap chell.
So i guess if you want to fix your old dsi this is an option.
Best thing to use for wish is buying meth pipes or needles under the "health and wellness" section lol
No one noticed that the wifi light was green indtead of yellow.
Idk what your talking about! The DSI Has the 4D feature where the screen pops out!
4DS?
How do they get away with putting the Nintendo logo on it ? Should be shut down
No idea
R4 cards always have a game name attached to them when you insert them
Two unskipable ads every 2 minutes. Reactivating my AdBlock for that.
My friend had an old ds I remember it having a super Mario maker cover on the front
I bought a dsi for 45$ and it came with 7 games and to see the quality of that for what you payed mines better ☠️
