  • In this video I meet up with XCaliber to check out some dense mining and learn more about it and the builds for it. After that we decide to attack a couple different ground POI's. In the second larger POI I get fairly frustrated. We/he beat it but the journey was not a good experience for me at least. Near the end of the video I do a bit more ranting about various things in regards to FPS combat, collision, AI, health conditions, bugs, etc. I think I am much calmer now. I think I will chill on the POI thing for awhile moving forward and get working on more productive things like getting a farm going and a CV miner spawned.

Totally Agree with you, Jeff your creative criticism is spot on. I feel the same way about POI runs. I hope they fix it.

Jeff, drills (afaik any drills) can't penetrate the crust on metallic moons (you can dig under if it you get there). I do not remember if it was the same in RE1 with impenetrable rock, but RE1 definitely had harder rock on some planets and moons that made it such a pain trying to tunnel closer to the POI to try and recover backpack.

There are dense mining drills for manual gathering of rich asteroids too, so you have a few of them as well as turrets and at least do something. I generally don't though. I park in a dense field and sort my boxes, cook food, do farming, etc. I almost sort of save up those chores to coincide with my dense mining to maximize my time.

Magnesium , at least in RE1, is a major component in the manufacture of rockets and missiles. (Can't remember if it's required for grenades).
That POI has been substantially altered and upgrade from RE1...

hey jeff. its a good idea to use a heavy armor in poi's since its gives 250 armor, and for every armor booster you get another 75 armor, or you could run multi boosters witch is 25 armor, 15 heat/cold and 3 from radiation. remember to keep your armor repaired as they provide less armor the more damaged they. seemed like you where running that last poi in a broken light armor.
another good tip i can give you is buying ziraxian salads, its sold at most food traders. its boots your max health to 700, + a slow health regen for 5 minutes.
i hope these tips will improve your experience a little bit.

Sorry about the shitty POI experience Jeff. Empyrion is a buggy chaotic mess, despite how well V & R manage to smooth over the crap. After watching the drone base part, can I make some suggestions?
Fever means you have to keep drinking water to keep your internal temps down. The upper right temp number is what you need to watch there. Going over 70°C is when you spontaneously combust. The tooltip for Fever doesn't mention it which is an oversight. Just gotta keep an eye on those temps and have a supply of water.
Using a sniper rifle at close range means you either win big with MLG reflexes and a headshot or you get raked over the coals by infected. Swapping to shotgun or AR/SMG sooner will help.
Using your personal drone to retrieve your backpack from a safe place isn't always possible, but I think may have helped here.
Buying meds before running POIs if you can't make them (and yes, the crafting recipes did get more annoying in RE2) always helps.
The one-shot kill around 3:03:40 from 351 hp to 0 was utter bullshit.

i usually place down 20-30 hydrogen extractors on a local planet as soon as i place my space base (still use your solaris base) fuel last days in them i can usually collect 24000+ bottle of hydrogen every couple of days, also if you dense mine the rich asteroids in zirax space you get prom and pent from the rich asteroids in vast amounts, fuel becomes a breeze. have mentioned this on xcals streams a few times in previous seasons, lol. also with the dense/rich mining be careful of being in the harvest box while mining as if you looking in the box when an asteroid breaks you dont get any resources from it.

I happen to love poi runs.. especially the abandoned ones, however when you don’t know them it can be brutal. Some of the abandoned ones look like there former versions of themselves so it makes it easier. I have not seen this new drone base and I got lost as well. The infected however are not fun. No matter what difficulty setting they still one shot kill you even through walls.
I have used the miner as I have not re outfitted the Kachina yet. The Kachinas cockpit is similar so I don’t notice getting stuck as much as i probly should. I think there is a lot of change that is going to take a long while to get used to. (The new icons are driving me crazy) also one last thing… your armour. The lower your armour goes, the lower your armour value goes. You take a whole lot more damage when your wearing light armour that’s halfway done then when it’s full. Also the new thrusters will make the Makkar more comfortable to drive. Good luck!

Thank you. Despite all my complaining, I still like to do POI's. I just wish the FPS action was more on par to a whole bunch of other shooter games, even old ones. I actually like shooter games in general but I always seem to become annoyed in this game specifically for a few reasons. I would love it to have a complete upgrade/overhaul on all things FPS related. I think it would make the game far better. And yes, I have watch the armor stats more and get some better gear in general as well as meds etc. And thanks again!

I feel you J, but XCal is 100%, I wont touch anything but the starter planet POIs without being fully prepped, just asking to die on repeat. Night vs Day.

nothing wrong with a bit of rant, empyrion is a buggy, clunky mess, and re2 makes its even worse by adding even more buggy, clunky, broken crap to it. but somehow i still play it.
im looking for a explorer cv with long range and not so much useless stuff on it, do you have something in your workshop?

its not stupid cuz ya dont know how to use it :P just sayin. most of the frustrations are a skill issue and ull get there. none of this isnt to say that the game couldnt use some improvements but many of the "issues" u experienced are v avoidable imo :P
