Well, I would not hold my breath that your trip will be possible in February either, knowing how draconian the covid measures can get in China. But also I'm really hoping that it is possible and we'll be getting our Defy's in the summer. =)
Starting next week, China is basically lifting travel restrictions, and lockdowns have been lifted for a while. But we can't for sure until we get there.
Starting January 8 the PCR and quarantine requirements are pretty much no more, so hopefully future travel and the supply chain will all be easier for Dygma!
If life gives you lemmons, yoo make lemmonade. If life gives you the middle finger, you can only get angry or make jokes, and we go for option B. Apologies for the delays, we're trying our best to cut the times, but it just can't be.
Yes, we’re sending samples back and forth all the time, but it’s much faster and more efficient to be there and solve problems on the spot if they appear.
So disturbing and upsetting all the frustration and suffering It’s weird that we have such an global view of social political medical and economic issues made visible because it effects this community-funded product We want a fun keyboard 🎉 so here are the supply chains and embassy COVID policies and workers getting sick 😷 I guess most places we would just never know. It’s educational to see all the steps it takes to make the project move forward And it really makes me hope for the best for everybody all along the chain
For us, it's been heartbreaking. Not because of the delays, but because we've been working with our suppliers for a long time, and we care about them and their suffering with all that's going on.
He's a blast, and we wish we could have him on more videos. The only things is that if we did so, we could suffer even more delays, because he's the Lead Designer in the project 😅 Don't worry, he's on the job and doing his best
You guys really need to start taking some margin into account when setting a delivery month :) That being said, I don't mind waiting a little bit longer. Thanks for the update!
We made some wide estimations, but things have gone south in every turn. But you're right, we'll expand the margins and consider ither factors for next projects. Apologies for the delays 🙏
Chinese people cant do QC? I'm sure there is something that I am missing here, but I can't quite understand why you'd have to be there in person. Also, I just want by keyboard, so I'm speaking out of frustration.
They sure can QC and we send samples back and forth many times to get to the perfect spot. We just want to make sure we're efficient and fast, to solve problems on the spot if they ever happen. 🥰
The engineering and development is in spain, the fabrication in china (like all simple electronics) There is no real alternative, wages + machines + safety standards would skyroket the price and not be a workable business model, yeah go to india or vietnam or something else but on the ground for the simple human worden the same result
Our parts come from China but the design, final assembly, QC, and fulfillment are made in Spain. Don't worry, we take all of these steps seriously and will deliver a great final product as we did with the Raise 🚀
Thanks for the concern 😊 We're taking all the required steps and will take any necessary meassure. Health is a priority at Dygma, and that does not only mean sitting propperly. Though he's a bit grumpy, we love Manel, we'll make sure he's ok.
Most of the world's consumer electronics are manufacturing in China: cheap and expensive. It's all about attention to detail, suppliers and quality control. And many times it's not about the cost: you can't manufacture certain things anywhere else. That said, China has been a far from ideal place to manufacture lately.
@@DygmaLab I believe you have already know, but Chinese factories have a tendency to silently swap an off-brand components for the most random excuses. They usually won't tell you until to get the first batch and find out by yourself, so always QC for every single batch.
@@_vicary oh, we are aware. It happened to us in the last batch of the Raise, but we have very exhaustive QC, and we spotted it. It set us back because we had to re-manufacture that component, but we would never risk it.

I have lowered my expectations to Dec 2023. Will check on you about every month or so. Thank you for ALL your hard work.
We'll work our as**** off to make sure we deliver it sooner that that 💪
Super interesting. Thanks for sharingg what's going on. It's really nice to be informed about the goings on for my only keyboard fam. ♥
Thank you! You can also check our latest Q&A for answers about the Defy and next products in the line up 🥰

Yes, that's gonna make everything so much easier. We have several trips planned for the next months.
This would have been absolutely hilarious, if it hadn't been so sad.

I really don’t understand why he has to go there. Aren’t you getting samples?

Doesn’t seem all that fast at the moment tho 😢

Please don’t taunt the Chinese, otherwise they might completely screw you over just out of spite. We cannot take this risk.
No worries, we are just making fun of how difficult it was to go there 🥲

LiPo battery cells will degrade in a few years, is it easy to replace them?
Yes, it will be very simple.
We design the keyboards to be easy to disassemble, and pieces to be replaceable. You're safe on that regard 😉

We're working to finish the manufacturing, and if we've come so far, nothing will stop us!
Hope this doesn't mean that you are having the new keyboard made there, if so count me out
