Game 6 was the game where Bobby played the English opening and played it in such a masterful style that Boris stood up and cheered at the end of the game. He basically created such a position that Spassky was passive and could not make any progress.
The commentator said "OMG! Fischer has abandoned his trademark Sicilian opening!". (Because Fischer had the white pieces, dumb commentator). Then again, isn't the English mostly just the Sicilian played as white? (c4, instead of reponding c5 to e4? I don't know. I only play Atomic Duck Chess).
To me, there will never be another Bobby Fischer, putting his demons aside. In chess history, you have good, great , the best, the best of the best, the GOAT and then, you have Bobby Fischer!
"When Grand Masters play, they see the logic of their opponent's moves. One's moves may be so powerful that the other may not be able to stop him, but the plan behind the moves will be clear. Not so with Fischer. His moves did not make sense - at least to all the rest of us they didn't. We were playing chess, Fischer was playing something else, call it what you will. Naturally, there would come a time when we finally would understand what those moves had been about. But by then it was too late. We were dead." - Mark Taimanov
A true classic that has stood the test of time and always will
