    Ben! Just back from an epic trip to Bavaria. Your many videos on the area gave me all the inspiration needed to rack up 25000 steps per day, find the most incredible views and see the best sights. The day at castle Ehrenburg was as epic as they come. We met a cat on our way out. We got turned around on the way, and no one could figure out where we are going. People I ask for help: Castles, you mean Neuchwanstein. Me: no, it’s something else. Ehrenburg? Them: skeptical. Haha. The difficulty was both part of the experience and well worth every minute once we saw this marvel. Just unreal. Thank you for all your efforts!
    Ashton

    2 days from now, we are heading from the country of Panama to the Black Forest and beyond, via Amsterdam to Munich. Your videos have proven very useful, informative and a pleasure to watch. Sometimes before watching, I think oh no 30 minutes?! What on earth could they possibly... now I see. And understand. And am so very much looking forward to finding these gems you have presented on your channel. From Munich, Rothenburg and Strasbourg to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berchtesgaden, we have listened to your pros and cons and have hopefully chosen wisely and will make the most of our time spent in lower Germany. Thank you!
    We will be renting a car in Munich, traveling through aforementioned towns then on to Budapest, Bratislava and Czech Republic as we wind our way back to Munich. That's the plan, fingers crossed!

    Getting back to your very early videos, and I keep letting out indignant squeaks over your derogatory mentions of Blackberry. I had a Blackberry Curve for YEARS and it was still the best phone I've had. The physical keyboard was leagues ahead of the crappy keyboards on screens, the phone was a lot hardier than the android thing I have now, I never had to fear viruses or hackers, I knew nobody would want to steal it, and the lack of apps meant I didn't spend nearly as long staring mindlessly at it.

    My husband and I saw Ehrenburg for our 15 year anniversary but ran out of time to see Fort Claudia. At the time we didn't know about the Schlosskopf.. seeing your video we are going to hike to it when we return for our 20 year anniversary. We just found your channel today and are enjoying your videos. 😊

      Thanks so much! So excited you are going back for the two. Schlosskopf is our favorite at the site, as the view is amazing.

    Is it easy to get to from Munich or would it be a better option to tie it in with a day trip to Fussen..?

    • @NearFromHome
      @NearFromHome  9 месяцев назад +1

      I wouldn’t personally daytrip from Munich to the world of castles. It could be done, but it would be harsh. Reutte is an easy bus from Füssen or train from Garmisch. So I’d recommend doing it as a day trip from either of those.

    I truly enjoyed the video as you provided a familial connection that I plan to share with my cousin as she is a Meinhardt! I get a little geeked out over genealogy. My paternal heritage began in Bayern (my great-grandparents came to America in 1888). And I actually lived in Augsburg from 1975 to 1978. (My fiance was stationed there from March or April 1974). Of course, at the time I had not begun my family genealogy, so I had no way of knowing that my family's journey to America began in a town a couple hours from Augsburg!

    We had planned to visit these castles prior to watching your videos but we didn't know about the Highline bridge. We crossed it but we weren't happy about it! It was rainy and a little windy last week and that didn't help our nerves at all. Thanks for the great videos!

    Great video!! I was wondering if you could disclose what kind of camera you were using!?

    • @NearFromHome
      @NearFromHome  5 лет назад +2

      Sure thing! I shoot with a Sony A7 III and a 35mm 1.4f Zeiss lens, Camille shoots with a Sony a6400 using the stock 16-50mm lens, and then we have a GoPro Hero 7 in the mix too. Each has a slightly different use when we are shooting but the main reason we have two Sony cameras instead of just one is simply so we can both be collecting B Roll coverage at the same time.

    Stunning landscape and a fantastic video guys. Looking forward to your future travel vlogs :)
    If I may ask, the RB train you took from Munich to Reutte was a direct connection or you had to change the train somewhere? Right now, I cannot find a single connection that directly goes to Reutte (Munich - Fussen - Reutte), which is very long. And, how much time did you guys take to complete the hike to all the castles?

    • @NearFromHome
      @NearFromHome  4 года назад +1

      Normally there is a train that goes directly from the Munich Hbf to Ruette in Tirol, but many of the trains crossing between countries are not currently running due to the Pandemic. :O Right now, you could take a train to Füssen, and then a 25 minute bus from Füssen to Ruette. I've done it before. It's less convenient, but still a totally viable option!
      As for timing, I think we spent a good 2.5 hours just walking and hiking. Budgeting for spending time at the castles, visiting the museum, and having a beer at the Gasthaus, this is a jam packed day trip. Not including transportation, this took about 5-6 hours.

    Because of this video we went to Ehrenberg and we loved it, so thanks for that! We cheated and went with the car so we had no issues with the public transport. The hike from Ehrenberg to Schlosskopf took us around 30 minutes because there was no snow, so we could go faster (can`t imaging it doing it while there is snow, must be way harder). Really like the videos you make and showing nice destinations to go and explore!

      That’s honestly really fantastic to hear. As a small channel it can often feel like a ton of work for no one to see :) but hearing stuff like this makes it 100% worth it.
