Thanks for this. Really like the house. Might want more of a sea view, though that bedroom has a great terrace. also, I’m a little afraid of that drive from Porto Moniz to Achadas da Cruz - and this looks like it might be along that route. We see the listing on Idealista and have favorited it - but Porto Moniz, despite the pools, might be too remote for us. On the North side, we like Sao Vicente and Santana (with a Continente) and if we are heading west, we are intrigued with Paul do Mar and Arco da Calheta. (Most of all, we are currently all about Funchal) Thanks for the tour. Met with realtor in Michigan yesterday. We are just months away and can’t wait!
Arco da Calheta is a nice spot. I'm native from Arco da Calheta, but obviously there are other locations with lovely properties to consider. You are the only one who knows your budget.
those are all nice areas and much more convenient to groceries and Funchal than Porto Moniz.

I visited Porto Moniz last week. It's really stunning. Definitely a great place to live. But everywhere I go on this gem of an island is beautiful. Going to call Calheta home next month. ❤️ Great presentation of this beautiful home.

Hi Doug and Monique. Nice video with good informative content. You guys should do more videos with properties outside Funchal. There are many nice places around the island with lovely properties with cheaper prices when compared to Funchal. Sao Vicente, Ponta do Pargo, Santana, just to name a few. All the best.

Don't just look to the "old-fashioned and very brown" just look at the potential of the property and what you can do with it to suit your needs. If you will just look at the perfect home with the perfect size and perfect colours that suits you, it may take some time to find, if you ever find it.Just my 2 cents.
@@ruinunes8251That's right. But I'm not saying that is a problem. But there is something to do. I think the interesting question is not the furnishing. It is living so far away in the north. Not a solution for everyone....
@@Johann-xw5cy Madeira is not a country, it is an island for god sake 😀. In many places, if we miss and exit in the motorway, we need to drive another 20 miles to turn around. In Madeira, 20 minutes is enough to drive 1/3 of the island, using the express ways obviously.

Lovely house but wrong location.
Nearest larger supermarket is, as far as I know is in Santana 2 Continente, no Pingo Doce and who wants to drive 50 minutes through the Mountains (at night) to Funchal for a nice international meal, shopping, culture, great bars...? Countryside is lovely but you can get all of that, probably more expensive, in the greater Funchal area. Also depending on your age, the distance to a good hospital where they speak English, especially when the new one is finished in Funchal, might be important as well as to be able walk to some amenities.
North coast is also cooler and rainy and houses are more likely to get moldy.

Beautiful home. It's perfect if you're interested in a lower maintenance yard. Everything seems to be there, ready for minor changes to suite one's own tastes. Yeah, we'd definitely consider it as a strong contender! The only concern I would have is the weather. Could I adjust to the wind blowing more than I'm used to?

"ready for minor changes to suite one's own tastes" Exactly, that is the right attitude where many people fail miserably, they fail to see the potential of the property and just look for the perfect house to be available ready for them.

Price sounds right , just one thing Doug , the door at the principal ( no more Master ) room to the deck is not floor to ceiling 😢
PS , at least here in the western US we no longer use the term ( Master bedroom etc ) for political corrections reasons
