As someone with the guts and money for an E63, I chose the E53 purely because of how it looks. SL63 will be my next car once that releases in Australia
@@MarekDrives if you are good at bargaining, you could eventually make a good deal out of it I guess! These cars become harder to sell, because of rising taxes due to emission norms set by the Belgian government. If the dealers don’t do discounts, they won’t sell...
So, you can still sail! I first had the same thougt... You need to go to individual, then select engine mapping “moderate”.. The sailing mode with the engine off is now active..
I had the All Terrain for a weekend and under front seat room with standard seats was poor as well. Not sure if mercs seat motors etc are just bigger than bmw etc but it is noticeably bad.
It's been a while, since I drove this. If I didn't say anything about in the review, it was average, taking into account the sporty exhaust, etc. If you're looking for a new car in this segment (or even something like a compact Skoda or VW), and you want the interior to be quiet, make sure there's an acoustic glass option, and that it includes not just the windscreen, but also the front side windows. Those help a lot.
Yes, I do want to be THAT guy. ;). But I can't afford it. If you can, then I think this is the sweet spot in the E class line up but my fav is the AMG 43 C class wagon. Save 20-30k and get a wagon. No brainer. By the way, I Love the black wood treatment. Beats shiny black any day of the week.
Yes but the E Class is more luxurious and has additional features the C Class doesn’t. I would rather buy a used E53 AMG Wagon wich was driven for 2-4 years with 50k-70k km on it and it would probably be as expensive as a new C43 AMG Wagon and then I would chip tune it if possible with stage 2 or 3 and higher v max up to around 280-300 km/h, it would then be able to do 0-100 in around 3.7-3.9 seconds with chip tuning, wich is very quick considering that 95% of the cars on the streets are 2.0 4 cylinder diesels and petrols with 150-200hp and do 0-100 in 6-7+ seconds.
@@MarekDrives in hindsight (which is easy I know) they'd have been better starting that new look at the top range and filtering it down, so you felt your A class mimicked the E53 not vice versa 🙃
@thisisvarv Yes, and no. I'd imagine the target group for bigger Mercs is more conservative, and they need to get used to a certain design, before they buy it. Meanwhile with the A Class in 2012 Mercedes made its cars cool for a younger demographic. Now with the new S Class it completes the total design refresh almost after a decade. On the other hand I recall Toyota in Europe considered it a mistake that they started a model redesign with the previous generation Yaris, rather than with the Avensis (which was still available back then) or at least the Auris.
The E class is the best Mercedes imo. It has pretty much all the tech from the S class, but it's much more manageable for daily life, specially in Europe with narrower streets. It's for you to drive instead of being chauffered in
The script is about 10k characters long, and about half of that is voice-over, so it's all cutaways. More than a minute of the talking head shots are also covered up with relevant cutaways + transitions, where there are beauty shots, drive-by, and car-to-car shots - that adds up to 65-70% of the video showing the car. I understand seeing the presenter may be too much for some. There are POV and/or 100 percent voiceover videos out there.
Because Tesla is for people, who don't like driving, but have to move around. BTW, on Mercedes German website there's a whole array of factory installed features for people with disabilities. I'm no expert on these, so could you browse through them, and tell me if 1. they are any good, and 2. are they more expensive, than what people install in cars after they buy them? I'm not sure whether it's only a German thing, or can you get these buying a new car from Mercedes in other markets as well. In Poland there is no mention of such options on MB website.

What year was this E53?
The E53 is all the performance car you need for everyday driving. The 63 is overkill
C63 AMG is pure owerkill:)
Yeh , what would win Dodge Charger scat pack or amg e53 ?
E63 is overkill indeed, however 80k is ok if you dont consider options. 35 k for options, hmm...
the v8 has a certain feel to it even when driving reasonably
Yes and if you chip tune it with stage 2 or 3 and make the v max higher then it could go up to 280-290 km/h or maybe even 300 km/h top speed.
Brilliant and concise review, with all the important aspects covered. A true benchmark for how it should be done.

This car is a beast!
I love 2021 E 53 AMG
Having driven the pre - facelift, I must say it is a stunning car! As said , it has it all! Only downside is the price.
I don't know what's it like in Belgium, but in Poland premium brands give hefty discounts. I'd expect this to go 20-25% below the official price.

One big plus, doesnt have eco mode...I like that.Estate maybe.
So, you can still sail!

Thanks for the tip. I'll look for it next time I drive something similar.
Great job, man.

Hey, thanks!

The round exhaust tips make it look like a lesser version of E63.
That's exactly what it is.
I like it but would prefer the M550i I think

Me too
Hi Marek
Great review. How would you rate the interior noise?

Well that's an interesting daily driver
13 - 14L/100km??? My c55 amg with 5.4L v8 gets under 8.5-10L when cruising....
I think there is cheaper AMG spec car or so called AMG line spec (regular car with AMG attributes). Nice to see that those dinosaurs not dead yet:)
❤️❤️❤️
Just wondering that does anyone know what color is it?? Is that selenite grey?
Yes.
@@MarekDrives cheers 👍
Is this selenite grey metallic?
Yes, it is.

Great looking car, but I can't help but think that from the front these latest mercs all look like big A classes.....
It's the same design language, and yes, it started in the A-Class.

So now they got to make E63 coupe
If it was 60 K just perfect car to have
Wait a couple years!

This Merc wouldn't know which way a Tesla Model 3 Performance went.
Yeah, but Tesla is for someone, who doesn't like to drive.
@ 0:20 Big FAIL
😂😂😂
Overpriced even by Mercedes’s poshy standards
The best or nothing.
Review 5/5 car 4/5.
The rear lights are so China...
Way too much time with the camera on himself instead of the car

Begs the question “why not buy a Tesla?”

Because you like driving a car as opposed to a badly made iPad on four wheels with a rocket up its arse?
Because tesla is a stupid car
