Not sure about electric motor driving accessories, I think belt driven accessories still will outlast that electric motor, like electric water pumps bmw started using on I6 N52 motors.
I’m test driving one of these on Friday. I just want to experience an AMG. I doubt I’ll be blown away by the power since I’m used to my 490 hp Audi S5 but I’m hoping for a great overall driving experience.
How did you like it? I’ve test driven two Audi S7s (C 7.5 with the v8) - and the e53 blows it out of the water in terms of driving dynamics like handling and steering feel. And the instant torque. I’m curious how you feel it compares to your s5. If I really do my due diligence I will test drive a m550i but I doubt the BMW handling will be anywhere close.
Being the new tech, I'm sure it'll have it's "teething" period before they find its flaws and fix them. But I'd imagine it'll be the new thing soon enough and, fingers crossed, it won't be too bad.

You did not capture the rear of the car in your entire video. I have no idea of how the rear of the car looks in an entire 14 minute video. Really?! Wow!
This is car falls in between E350 and E63. It's an entry level to AMG and also for people who care about consumption. Its much more closer to a hybrid car. It's not meant to be compared with BMW.
@A Light Not when it is a Performance Hybrid. The Performance Hybrid(which this car has) makes it where there is no turbo lag. It is like a Tesla off the line. It is instant performance!

I believe the sedans, including the E-Class, come from Germany, unlike their SUV's that are built in Alabama. Not the G-Wagon though. I think that one comes from Austria.
I know all-wheel-drive is quicker and stickier and all, but I wish these performance cars, especially the bigger V8's, at least offered rear-wheel-drive.
Moving away from a straight 6 was the worst decision that MB has made over the last 25 years. No V6 can match its balance and buttery smooth power delivery.
Bakhtiyar Mamadaliyev well it is a great engine. But the balance I refer to in part is the actual balance. The straight 6 weight distribution is balanced, and the pistons are all moving in the same direction. A V6 has them moving at opposing angles, and has vibrations that a straight 6 won’t have.
I love the mpg, the horsepower, the 1450 W Burmeister option....perfect....except for the stupid exhaust sound...maybe the sound is coming from the performance exhaust system option? Do NASCAR/ Race Track wannabees really have the funding for such car?
whiteandnerdytuba well that’s why the E63 still exists. This is basically an equivalent to the past E550 with an AMG visual package back in the day but with a more modern take.

I’ve drag raced a 2018 “tuned” c63 and got the same times with my stock setup now I’m modified 😈 but you are comparing a car 15 years newer and cost 10 percent, the e63 blew me out of the park but the awd is killer and I was on street tires

I just test drove that car, and I can tell you that the exhaust sounds glorious! By far the best sounding Mercedes to date!

Belt less design is cool, but how does that affect reliability in the long run? Not that it matters to anyone buying these vehicles new. Just curious.

The good news is it looks like new vehicles come with a 10 year unlimited mile warranty with respect to the hybrid/electric components

Electric accessories and boost is great! And it sounds glorious! But, quad exhaust on a straight six is a lame compromise to styling...

I noticed that! If that's what it was, it sounded like it wasn't even in harmony with the RPMs.
No, it's just the audio from inside and outside being out of sync. You can't perfectly align audio from 2 different sources.
