After 12000 miles I have averaged 28.5 mpg in my E53 Saloon. Good mixture of local and long distance driving. On a trip to Düsseldorf I got 38 mpg. Amazing engine; love it.
Hi! Thanks for the info! Could you pls advise your MPG in town and highway...still debating between e450 wagon and e53? Is the e53 very firm even in comfort mode? Thanks in advance!
Were we not being just a tad bit naughty @5:51 into the video, Mr. Howard!!?? 8-\\... But I'm sure Howie, who's ever so responsible and grown up, had set the car to reading in kph and not mph 8-||... So the car was only doing 75 kph and not what a lot of people might think, as 75 mph 8-))... And Howard. You said (@5:59) that this car weighs 2585 kg. *WRONG!!* It only weighs 1950kg. Or were you including your weight into the total figure!!?? 8-))... Once again Howard show's the RUclips world how to make and produce a great car review. And now he has a Golden Cocker Spaniel friend to help! Awesome 8-))...
I'm torn between a pre-owned (2019/2020) MB E53 AMG and a BMW M550ix. You've rated both very highly. I frankly like the look better of the MB (the BMW feels dated and there are so many on the road in the US) but that twin turbo V8 in the BMW is pretty amazing. I have yet to be able to drive an E53 as I can't find one locally. So, I'm hoping you can be a tie breaker, as your tastes seem to mirror mine. I'm looking for a fun 4-door driver's car that fits the in-between my less practically but amazing-to-drive 911 S convertible and a new and very lovely (but big) X5 540i SUV. Looking for a car that can comfortably handle painfully long highway drives, day-to-day commuting (although I work from home), yet also tackles the windy mountain roads once we get where we're going without constantly over or under-steering or letting me feel every single bump on the road when it's not wanted.
We think he might go for the M550i... in red but the MB is likely to be cheaper and is also highly special. MB auto cruise was slightly better than BMW on the last test. Materials and paint go to the MB. Infotainment and handling to the BMW.
@@leasingdotcom Thanks so kindly. My X5 has the auto-cruise and same infotainment, and both the wife and I love it. So, I guess going with a familiar system rather than learning yet one more new one also helps. I'll let you know how it goes. Test driving a Panamera 4S today and then a couple pre-owned M550ix's tomorrow. Then I'll make a final decision.
Great review, great car, but only good if you fuel it with O.P.M………………….other people’s money. I desperately want one, but the fuel costs on my 200 mile round trip daily commute would kill me….or, if not, the wife will kill me!
Looking for a brand new performance Mercedes? We have plenty of deals for AMG models here buff.ly/3Eet8xO

First time here, great review had a few chuckles and great info. Subscribed great job!
This is exactly the kind of review I’m here for, cheers Howard. New fan 😎👍🏻
Good review. Love my 2021 E53 AMG sedan. It is beautiful car and I love to drive it.
As usual a great review from Howard, we need more Howard :)
Editing on par with old top gear. Love it.
What a gorgeous place to sit in even the dog liked it.
Very interesting and entertaining reviewing style. Loved it!
Great review, Howard nails it with his charm and personality - clearly a petrol head !
Love your reviews Howard, great sense of humour too.
Glad you like them!

Nice cabin indeed not so keen on the rest of the car but I totally love the way you reviewed it 👍
2585 kg? That is not correct. They weigh around 2000 kg estate. Sedan version weigh 1945 kg.
Another great review Howard
Love your reviews. Brilliant.
Currently in the c63 estate and the e63s will be next. The V8 biturbo is in another dimension again. Lovely car though
Weird watching a car review and randomly seeing you drive past the house I grew up in!
oh wow ...
I have one, it’s a 2021 with all the options, if I use the autonomous driving and indicate it doesn’t change lanes.

Heated steering wheel, is that a UK option? I cannot find it.
The only thing I could think of while watching the in car segments is how high he has the drivers seat, his head is nearly in the roof lining.
In the UK there is no massage seats, no head up display. Why?
Hi great video, do you know why the upgraded high end sound is not available in uk?
As far as we are aware it is very much so, that car is a UK car with Burmester.
@@leasingdotcom Hi thanks for your reply. Yes, but I'm referring to the 3D surround upgraded version of the Burmister.
Great review! Just got my new E53 Cabriolet. Love it love it!
Fancy!
Thank you very much 😊
Ahh, the E63 for the classy family man
It’s true Mercedes do the best paint

The exterior of that car is ugly....
