Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.
Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.
But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

The most tragic thing about this whole situation is that Rishia truly loves Itsuki and tries to save him, while the latter has had both his mind and sense of justice so poisoned and corrupted by Myne's lies and the Cursed weapons that he see Rishia as a threat to his warped worldview.

Rishia deserves better than that Bow-Bow (Bobo) head….Seriously, he still doesn’t learn his lesson from the first season even though that garbitch has done the horrible things, the Sword Hero, the Bow Hero and of course the Spear Hero are nothing more than a trio of idiots who never learned a lesson at all. Naofumi IS the true hero. If Rishia would rather team up with is him, and he can show that guy what a true teammate he is to her. Again, Rishia is better off without Itsuki, because it is turning to be one of the most expensive toxic relationship ever in the series.
Hes almost as fanatik to justice as most people are to religion which is actually horrifying that he would turn on other people for his believes.
There's one interesting point about the four heroes. Naofumi is the only one who's transported into this world through a book, while the 3 others are transported through a video game. Naofumi see this world as a real one because in a book, the reader don't really exist, and the characters live their own lives, while in a video game, the player is present in the world and play an active role. Naofumi morality, while hurt by Myne betrayal, still see the inhabitants of the world as real persons and understand the consaquences of his actions, while the other 3 take an awful long time to understand this world will not bend itself to their whims.

It's a shame that none of the 'heroes' deserve their redemption arcs, they don't have a change of heart via seeing the error of their ways; they only do it because they had no other options.

I dont think she was as strong as she is now. The problem was he didnt give her the opportunity to grow alongside him and tossed her out because he thought she was useless. Naofumi worked with Raphtalia, made her grow and become stronger Itsuki was a fool Rishia is awesome
It really is a damn shame, Rishia truly loves Itsuki and never betrayed him. Yet the fool still see her as an eyesore, when I read the web novel I wanted her to show this imbecile no mercy in this beatdown. He deserved every hit😤
I really hope she doesn't end up like Sakura in Naruto, who will still love him no matter what because he doesn't deserve her after he had her kick out with false crime because of jealousy.

This part was amazing. Honestly seeing Rishia grow into such a strong fighter and proving to Itsuki that she can become stronger was awesome. She impressed me here
Is a shame that these Heroes cannot be replaced, because they have been way too useless and annoying for 3 entire seasons.
That will change, by the latest LN volume, Bow Hero and Sword Hero have had their opportunities to be of use and show her worth as Heroes.
Currently Ren is helping Naofumi in the current arc. Only Motoyatsu is the one who hasn't had the time to be in the spotlight and show his worth as a Hero but seeing that the LN might have been dropped, we won't know for sure until we get news about it.
Yes they can, just replace motoyasu and itsuki having them imprisoned and tortured physically, mentally and emotionally and destroy any and every hope for freedom or any second chances and find new heroes with different abilities and powers that are actually good people and there, presenting the new and improved cardinal heroes
I didn’t suggest to replace ren because I was told before that he’s a really good person and he truly wants to redeem himself unlike the other two, motoyasu being the one addicted to filo and itsuki being a heartless, soulless, evil, nasty, horrible, detestable, despicable villain and overall a complete monster that deserves to be cut down or have all his bones broken especially his arms and legs extremely gravely so he never moves again (they should break his neck too so he never becomes a pain in the neck for Naofumi and so he never abuses rishia again)

I don't know I think the Spear hero has become more reliable. He saved Naofumi's party from those two annoying guys who kept coming back to life. Downside is he turned up his lolicon meter to max.

Well Naofumi has the potential to be a prominent hero, the legendary shield was the first weapon to pick its wielder, the rest were faulty heroes summoned (basically fillers to complete the 4 cardinal heroes) 🛡Naogod showed the qualities of a hero better than the other three.
I'm glad Itsuki lost how he did he deserve it for the way he treated her badly before b***h lied to him but I'm glad he finally on the team just need to recover

A battle of truth and justice literally
This series is awesome
The cursed weapon is not bad in terms of abilities but the owner is weak. But that girl is much stronger than people gave her credit for. First mistake, never underestimate your opponent or anyone. A solution, see what could you do to help that person become more. The bow hero wouldn’t know justice even if it stabbed him in the back
Well after all, the old lady said that Rishia held a great potential, and since she trains regularly (unlike the bow hero, at least it doesn't seem) she became really strong, no wonder why she was able to corner Itsuki

There are different viewpoints in justice, one viewpoint of justice means to bring down the corrupt and evil. But another viewpoint of justice can be one’s pride in the own justice so much so that every little evil deed done is deemed evil, to the point of pure injustice, and combine that with the person’s pride in their own justice blinds them from the true reality of what justice truly stands for and it means.
The parallel between Rishia and Itsuki is that, Rishia saw justice as a way of stopping those who are corrupt that crush those who are weaker than them, meanwhile Itsuki saw justice as his own pride and tool, believing that he is the embodiment of justice itself. One sees the justice of others, but some see that person’s pride of justice as injustice.

Say what you will, and you cab disagree but for me? All 3 heroes and the fact that no matter what they do they're forced in the story and forgiven over and over is why I dropped the story. Wether it was at the beginning of the story or now, throughout they've just been going around selfishly causing trouble and to me? I dont see the redeeming qualities people talk about. They are legot just playing hero and destroying everything when things don't go their way all the time since day 1.

Imagines if Itsuki would managed to brainwashed Naofumi's allies and party members, sans Rishia and possibly Raphtalia, and the bow stooge would order them to attack Naofumi and Raphtalia, forcing them to be blocking and avoiding their attacks, all this while Rishia is fighting Itsuki.
And the reason to excluded Raphtalia, is by the fact of be a Vassal wielder, as maybe this bestows her from protection against any kind of slavery.
Ironic that the bow has a brainwashing ability, and the heroes thought the shield had that ability.

@@phantominway well it's a combo skill unlocked by the pride series, such as the guillotine and the iron maiden
...okay now you may be right about that...I know all four heroes can theoritically unlock every sin curse series ...but since these skills need a combo to be used...(for example Naofumi has to use Shield prison in order to use Iron maiden)

Meh, it´s the perfect portrayal of why this series has become so uninteresting. It´s just weak writing after the initial premise dissipated.
"Law fanatic", what a great name for a skill, could´ve also called it "wrongdoers Mc wronglies wrongdoing" just like swordhero emotionally appealing to his fellow hero "if you do that that is bad"...yeah I can really feel the impact those words are carrying. And all of that while they´re going all out on small fodder from the MCs perspective, he doesn´t need them as people, he just needs them for vague prophecy stuff that was shoehorned into the world to at least give him some kind of agency to care about them at all after he lapped them in powerscaling at episode 10 or so.
When it wouldn´t have been so difficult at all. Even retrospectively. Make the other heroes real threats, let them fight him as equals, when they´re already getting the same skills anyways. He already has a saviour complex he is playing to, might as well make him have a point there instead of morally deprived baddie. Give them an agenda of their own instead of just needing to end up following the MC because MC is right about everything anyways. And suddenly you have a real clash of interests that naturally would need to be resolved in a thoughtful manner.

I'll be honest, i always hated the bow hero itsuki with every fiber of my being since day one, i always believed that Itsuki is by far the worst hero ever and he doesn't deserve a redemption arc, he's also so stupid for letting princess demon herself manipulated him and take advantage of him so easily

I think the director for this series did not give Rishia justice. They had really good development originally but they stole some of her moments and gave them to other characters earlier on so getting here felt rushed.

Is it me or is rising of the shield hero seems off. The animation is off, villian are literally spawning out of nowhere. The mf blind tiger girl is some reason gaining main character level of strength. Seriously, Gale was on death row and a month later was basically carrying the squad in the dragon fight.

Well...yes and no, each hero can have the 7 curse series in them, as Ren had Greed and Glutonny for example, so no, there aren't 3 other Heroes...or rather, there are more than only 4 Heroes (but unless you want to know I won't say more since it spoils)
As for the counterparts...well there are, but then again, explaining it would spoil a bit
