In the 80s through the early 90s,BC Rich was the METAL🤘 GUITAR!! Jackson took over.
ESP and Ibanez also took over
I love pawnshop guitars. That's where 90% of my favorites came from.
Love watching you bring these guitars to life.
Y'all bless so many people with just your video content alone, and then you physically give the fruits of your labor. God bless you and your family, Sean and Cathy. Y'all are awesome folks 👏 🙌 🙏
I have been at the guitar for over 40 years and Indonesian guitars always seem to turn out great.
This would be really cool as a series in addition to the cheap amazon guitars and leo jaymz kits series - finding ultra cheap pawn shop guitars and bringing them back to life!
I agree
I saw an early vid off your channel where put a purple-ish top on an LP Special II or some epi junker and made it so killer it was astonishing. But the best part was when you gave it to the guy. That reaction, right there, THAT'S your money maker!! More of THAT PLEASE! Can't wait to see the next vid on this reveal.
You are a godsend, bro. Thanks for the channel and all you do. I have learned so much from you. That's enough Lip Flappin'.
Peace
When I think of 5 string guitars, I recall a quote by Keith Richards: 5 strings, 3 notes, 2 hands and 1 asshole
People love to hate the BC Rich Bronze series. I think it's nice and for 50 bucks I would buy these all day long even without upgrading the pick ups these can be made to play great with a little tweaking. My first experience with BC Rich was ages ago when my son wanted a Warlock. Guitar Center had starter packs Guitar, Amp, picks, strap, cord etc. When he opened it Christmas of course he was as happy as a kid could be he didn't even want to open his other gifts. After we did the whole Christmas Morning thing I let him take it out fool around with it. Of course it was not set up properly. I took it replaced the strings and set it up properly. I was amazed how well it played and how good it sounded especially with the small practice amp that came with it. I have probably a dozen BC Rich guitars in my collection now and only because I thought if they could build an entry level guitar that was dam decent their other stuff had to be good. My first BC Rich was the Beast and after that I grabbed one of the other models all pre owned most with a Floyd dirt cheap because people just didn't know how to set them up properly or didn't want to spend the dough to have a shop do it.
Sweet! You turned that $50 "junk" into a playable guitar. Nice work, as always.
Hardly a piece of junk they play nice once sorted
@@Rob-fn1lm "junk" is inside double quotation marks to signify it is being used in a manner contrary to its meaning, I was echoing Sean's comments about people calling it a junk guitar, if I thought BC Rich guitars were junk I would plainly say so.
@@Roy_Gaber a misunderstanding on my part
Oh so that’s the one you picked up by Brad! I’d say that’s well worth $50 bucks! I just don’t wanna know where the guitar has been, but you cleaned it up and brought it some new life. Nice save!
Bronze Series Mocking Bird is one of the affordable guitars in the B. C. Rich catalog, and it features the stripped down styling combined with low-cost tone woods. This six-string comes with a solid, single-cut agathis body (agathis is a substitute wood used throughout the industry for the affordable and beginner's guitars), bolt-on neck, 25-1/2" scale and 24-fret fingerboard.
I just got a Westcreek Revenge guitar and it's solid ,I just replaced the strings to DR strings and it plays great with low string action out of the box!!! I will replace the turners to Planet Waves locking tuners to improve the tuning stability, the stock humbuckers Rock!!!
Thanks for reminding us what a Guitar Wizard you Truly are.
Some of my best Guitars and Gear came from garage sales, swap meets, and of course....the Pawn Shop.
Also Known as...the Land of Misfit Toys in this reality.
Thank you and your ever-present camera operator..❤❤❤
Awesome video. I had an early 90's BC Rich Warlock bronze series and the body was plywood.
I love the heat gun action!! Nice tip!
That turned out nice! I am a Mockingbird fan I have three of them. I saw this hanging up on the wall on your last video. Very cool!
Hey Sean! Nice to see you.
Hey Roy!
You shined that bad boy up so good, it was hard to see what you were doing because of the reflections coming off of it!
I had one of those way way way back in the day and remember it didn’t play so well. I’ve learned so much recently about guitar set up from your channel and some others. I wish I could get my hands on it again and show it some love the way you did this one
Man, I love a good diamond in the ruff. Thanks for sharing the journey.
What’s up Sean!!! Been watching your channel for a while and I am a subscriber… first time I’ve commented and to heck with your trolls you have the right attitude love it!!! The fret file in the reciprocating saw… FREAKIN’ EPIC!!! Anyway big fan and keep up the cool work!!!
Always keep the Chiclet caps! I bought my first Duncan pickup in the form of a Hot Stack Tele for $60 off FB marketplace that needed new output wire so not did I replace the wire, I wired it in series and loaded it in my Tele and it's a HOT hottie! As for the Mockingbird, them Duncans make em make it happen!
I buy large cans of naptha to clean guitars. Super cheap for the amount you get and works a treat too.
Well done and interesting rehab of a used guitar. You need to add skull tuning heads to complete the effect.
5 strings?!!? Must've been Keith Richard's Mockingbird.
lol for sure.
This is my favorite guitar channel
Thanks. We work hard and that means a lot!
BC Rich used to make a model called a "Seagull" , I'd like to see one of those again for sure!
That guitar is freaking sick, love the sound of the Seymour’s I think it fits it perfectly. Great Vid, can’t wait to see the surprise
When I see that B.C. Rich, it reminds me of my best $50 find. The main reason I don't have it on my lap right now is that I need to replace the output jack. I replaced everything but the pickups on that bad boy, and it was my first mod project, so it DEFINITELY belongs in Scarred Nation! I don't like the fact that it has only 21 frets, or that it has a vintage-style six screw vibe, OR that it's sorta fugly😆 -- but the price was too right to pass up, and the pickups wound up sounding so good that I HAD to leave them in, cheap ceramics or not! I'm strictly amateur night compared to you, Sean (I don't run a shop!), but I think you'd like this one. And if not, it's MINE!😆 Oh, and if I'd somehow seen that Rich before you, you would NEVER have seen it!‼
If That Mockingbird don't Sing....Then my ears must be needing a hearing thing
Awesome guitar rescue! I love getting a guitar from a pawn shop and making it mine.
Great video as always Sean, you have given me the knowledge and the confidence to work on my own guitars, one of these days I'm going to send you one that I rebuilt,( maybe an old peavey) just so you can see how much you are helping people, thank you Sean
Rock on!
I am not familiar with this brand, but it looks cool. I agree it doesn't matter what shape it's in. People pay good money for that relic look. Just need a good cleaning and fix any issues that it has. I think it's a good find.
Note: I am on the West Coast, so I usually do not see the videos until 3 hours after you post them.
My brother in law has one of those a buddy gave him. Saw it last year when I went to see him for his birthday. I pimped a Squire Sonic Tele for him. Perhaps I now have to pimp his Mocking Bird… Thanks for the video Sean!
The Skulls was that extra little touch.
This is an interesting new format, It would have been spectacular to see you negotiating in the pawn shop.
You turned that into a great guitar instead of just a good one, as usual. I love the B.C. Rich guitars. Always wanted one in the 80's. Like CC Deville. I had a couple of strats back then.
Some people collect Mockingbirds and thee are some people you couldn't give one to.
Been a BC Rich Mockingbird player since the mid 80s. I'd buy that for 50 bucks all day long.
I love pawn shop guitars, back when I could see I used to rescue a bunch of Strats. Basically like a basket case bike! I look at it like you do rescue one from a pawn shop. Back in the 70s I had a bunch of box specials. It’s really fun! You done great there,!
I had a 2003 BC Rich Body Arts V with the skull and flames I purchased for $200 used in 2004. I was a really kickass guitar after the upgrades. Wish I would have kept it.
Nice work Sean. As always you make everything better. Another Stellar transformation!!
I'd jump on it too! If I had it spare!
BC RICH BIOTCH ❤ Classic! I love to see these pawn budget beauties get a new life.🤘
I used to play one of those in the studio. I see a diamond in the rough! Once you set it up you will like it! I have been scouring the pawn shop for a carcass for my Cathybuckers!
Killer find!!! A BC for $50 ... I mean c'mon man!!!
$200 in total very well spent.
We just alike Sean cheap is right up my alley.
My 2 favorite guitars I own are my Johnson del mar js-800 I got for $77 and my Epiphone Les Paul Jr I got for $70. The Johnson has been fully rebuilt, fret level, rolled fretboard, tusq nut, new pickups and a Wilkinson tremolo. Plays just as good as any Fender I've played. On the Jr I switched the humbucker for a P90. Two great guitars with upgrades for less than $500!
Bro you put those cork sniffing techs to shame!
I actually have one of these guitars it was given to me as a gift , I decided to sculpt the back of the body and switch to grommets and get rid of the neck plate Turns out mine is a plywood body ... I made it work though ,
That's a great buy there.I would snatch that right up.
Hey Sean, you ought to try the Lizard Spit scratch remover on that guitar, stuff works wonders. I always just hand buff it out but It'd be interesting to see you take the buffer to it. You've got a great channel here, it's become one of my fave's now. Keep up the great work folk's!
I got a Mockingbird arch top and it’s every bit as good as a Les Paul. I got it for $230.
I guess You can polish a turd 😅😂🤣
As Always, Have a Great Week Sean, Cahy, & Everyone SCARRED !!!
I'm not a BC Rich guy, but for $50, I'd pay that any day.
DUNLOP also makes good guitar picks. When I played a lot of acoustic, I had a DUNLOP thumb pick. ☺
That reminds me of a joke that I heard from my friend in Alabama: "Billy Bob drinks so much beer that his belly DUNLOP over his belt buckle!" 😂
Awesome , as usual . Thank you Sean.😊
Reciprocating crowning file!!! 😳
Good find...😮 ive got a cheap LP copy i got for $40 pawnshop find,,sitting in a closet,,i cant wait to fix it up \m/ \m/
I would have bought that in a heartbeat for $50. The Mockingbird definitely is one of their more "normal" shapes, but still one of my favorites.
great purchase. nice updates.
For fifty notes and a bit of effort and some additional money on the pickups, that's a great guitar. Not my own personal taste, but someone's gonna love that thing. Great job.
Hi Sean! Great work sounds great! Keep up the "Scarred" work!
If that pawn shop had put a little time into that thing it could have sold for $150 or more.
Sean trust me swap the ceramic magnets in those pickups to alnico 5 and you'll be impressed
People don't talk about magnet swapping enough. Cheap and easy way to get some added warmth and clarity to your tone.
I've done it many times on this channel.
Sean. I don't know why you just don't let me paint some sometimes. I'm only across the Howard Franklin.
Always liked them mocking birds but never thought they were worth the asking price..
50 bucks id taje it home too.
I have the Warlock bronze series. Black, just like that one. I think it’s a 1996. Wife bought it for me. Changed the hardware to all black. So its black on black. Looks killer. I gotta say, the neck is f’n sweet! Better than my Les Paul necks easy. Want to upgrade the pickups but still don’t think I fully understand it.
Ya know we all had back in the day one of these shoot 1989 or 90 I had me a warlock lol I think we all had one of these back in the day
I wouldn't be surprised if that was my old BC Rich Mockingbird I sold to Jacob Green. He ended up pawning it a long time ago. It looks like it.
I got two bronze series warlocks they got a nice thin fast neck great for shredding
the bridge is a copy of the leo quan badass bridge first seen on the bc rich seagull
Love the mockingbird.
If the guitars are crappy.
And the people are crappy.
Then the pawn shop is 💩
😁🤘🏻
Middle position was nice, and a bit unexpected. Those Seymour’s in that pairing sound a bit different in different bodies. I have a a Strat and a 335 with em, both good, and unique. This one sounds real good.
Hang on just a minute! Are you telling me you only paid a total of $200 for that guitar?
bronze series is like the low entry guitars of BC Rich
Maybe it's just the pawn shops where I live but, I have never seen a guitar for a decent price in a pawn shop. The ones in my area tend to have cheap guitars and ask as much as you could buy the same or similar guitar for brand new. Well, that's how it was when I last went to a pawn shop which was years ago. I also went to one in Tennessee that was the same way.
The bronze series BC Rich was their affordable line kine of like the Dean x series
They were decent quality, I would have liked to see you refinish the mahogany body so you could see the grain
Gonna be a great gift for your friend
Excellent video, Sean. Thank you.
Very welcome
Very welcome
Scar My Guitar - - - is the Earl Scheib of the guitar industry! Lol
Got a mid 80s Kramer st600 that I bought years ago because it looked like Eddie's Since then I've bought a few fenders Gibson's charvels and while some are better for single coil stuff others have good humbuckers the Kramer can do it all better than most plywood body by Duncan pickups Floyd rose trem and the most comfortable wizard 2 neck a real gem in my mind
Great Job!
Outstanding job!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
You didn't see the BC "Platinum", "NJ Series", etc until around 1986... Kramer were already selling the budget "Striker" and "Focus" series as far back as '83... so no, BC was not the first.
wrong. bc rich began imports in 1982.
You found a very rare guitar. I can't find it anywhere online.
awesome guitar man!
Good job bro, that’s a nice guitar.
Rick Derringer Guitars and Women.
Peace.
That's a Mockingbird body and a Warlock neck
No, I don't know who you're giving that Mockingbird to, but I'm hoping it's Trey Shreddings. That's because after he gets it, I'd like to see (and hear) him shred it!🤘
You need to mount the toothbrush on your saw 😁
Painful guitar to play sitting down..I just fixed one for a friend. Thanks Sean. 😁
Great video!
I really, really, really, really, really, really like guitars 😂
sick guitar
I want to buy a Mockingbird body and give it the TELE treatment!! Mockingtele? LOL
Man all the pawn shops near me have overpriced junk. Last time I saw a bc rich it was the most beat up missing parts Warlock platinum series listed for like 250 bucks.
