Hey,
So early this week, Evan Stanley and Mauro Fonseca released some posing sheets for Kit and Surge (from IDW
Sonic the Hegdeghog: Imposter Syndrome #1) respectively. So naturally, I wanted to see what Surge what look like
in the Mania style and this is what I came up with! Let me know what you think!
Also, I am planning to reopen my sprite commission again later this month so if you are interested

I haven't even read the comic introducing her yet, but she's already one of my favorite characters, from her design, personality, and abilities. I can tell Surge is gonna kick butt haha
That sprite looks darn good, great job bro.
I wish more than anything that they’d adapt the comics into games. Surge here is just one of a whole list of memorable and iconic characters alongside those of Tangle and Whisper. I’ve never even seen the other Freedom Fighters in any of the games!

The design was leaked weeks ago, but I’m honestly not surprised it took Hortinus this long considering the quantity + quality of content he puts out.

god surge is already one of my favorite characters in the whole series and i'm so happy seeing so much of the fanbase agrees. fantastic work here, i love seen her in pixels like this!!!
This sprite along with your test running animation is some of the best fanwork I've seen for Surge thus far! Out of curiosity, if there was any advice you could give to those wanting to learn Sprite Art, what would it be?
Don't be too ambitious. Start by trying to recreate simple 8 bit sprites Aesprite or MSPaint. After you get the form and techniques down, then move to 16 bit types. Mania style sprites would be far too big of a task to tackle as a new pixel artist
@@hortinus THIS. As someone with a bit of a perfectionist syndrome, it took me a LONG while to realise as an aspiring artist that you just can't make a Mona Lisa off the bat. Start small, & you will *_surely_* work your way up.
This Chad uses ms paint to make high quality art, and has earned my respect.
you literally already make better sprites in mania style than sega itself

Surge will always be Ashura the Hedgehog to me. (I’m that old) But nice sprite work.
she was partially based on Ashura, as well as Kit being that blue Knuckles from Sonic 3(?), and Starline being **************, the glitchy Knuckles-Tails amalgamate from Knuckles Chaotix.
Then you'd better start calling Starline either "Wechnia" or "*********" from now on.

Is it safe to say you prefer the old MS paint to sprite with?
I used to do sprite edits of S3&K legit all the time when I was middle school until the new MS pint came out.

How is one able to do this is paint of all things? I would never have the patience to do something like this in aesprite, let alone MS Paint. Good job though, I’m really impressed with how it turned out!

They’re basically like hedgehogs and shrews. In fact, some of the black and yellow ones even look a bit like Shadow.
