"The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginningless time, darkness thrives in the void, but always yields to purifying light."
The thing I love about this scene is that it pays so much respect to these two highly different personality types. One is grounded and conforming, the other is intuitive and harmonizing, but both are disciplined.
I don't see how Hank was all that respectful. He's actually kind of a jerk. First he demands that this guy tell his son he's not a lama, which would be rather like asking a catholic monk to issue a papal bull (i.e., something he is DEFINITELY not authorized to do and vaguely blasphemous). Then he dismisses a saying from him faith as "something from the lion king," which is both demeaning and kind of ridiculous considering christianity has plenty of proverbs and sayings of a similar nature (ex. the literal book of proverbs). And finally, he threatens to kick his ass for NO reason (seriously, this guy has done no harm to him and is a threat to no one), only storming off when he realizes there's no way to beat up a pacifist without getting arrested. Hank's kind of a major dick in this episode.
It also highlights two different cultures and mindsets. Hank is a conservative southern guy all about American tradition. The monk is obviously on a different level of thinking that comes from being from a different country. This obviously would give Hank a small dose of culture shock.
Nathan Dance actually, the Shaolin monk wouldn't have done anything unless hank threw the first punch or kick. Shaolin monks are not allowed to start fights, they must always only act in self defense. But I agree if hank threatened a Shaolin monk the outcome could have been much different.
Shaolin monks don't fight to hurt others but to protect. A shaolin monk wouldn't have done anything against someone like Hank. They fight seriously only in extreme cases like when chinese communist army invaded Tibet and their temples

@@aaronlandry3934 It's a very simple statement. He's saying that they have no power to change what is divine will. The wind cannot overturn a mountain, the cart wheel can't escape being drawn by the ox, and the monk can't stop Bobby from being a lama.

It's taken from "Won't You Pimai Neighbor?".
thats funny i thought it was from that tv show Kung Fu oh well i stand corrected :D
Good episode great ending
Extroverts during quarantine: Hank
Introverts during quarantine: Buddhist monk
"If my ass is going to be kicked, it will be kicked" - basically he just said "it is what it is".
Hank Hill V.S Saitama
Saitama would LOVE Hank Hill. They'd get together for BBQ. On a propane grill, naturally.
Not all heroes fight for no reason.
Hank would win thanks to propane
"If my ass is going to be kicked, then it will be kicked 🙏" -Me before each sparring
“If my ass is going to be kicked, then it will be kicked.”
Average day in high school
@@OS1540 Christian Rock culture gave him a culture shock. His childhood traumas have kept his mind in the 50s.
This is the perfect reaction that the character of Hank Hill could give to this type of person tbh
good thing hank didn't say he was going to kick a shaolin monk's ass, then the answer would be rather different.
Hank: I'm Gonna Kick Your Ass.
Hank would probably still kick his ass in a fight.
TheIdioteque1 I doubt Bills Ability to take down Hank unless it was a surprise attack
That monk just served Hank Hill on a platter without violence. That's awesome!!
He essentially said It isss what it isss
It isss what it isss
It isss what it isss
It isss what it isss
Sometimes I feel as if that monk was actually trolling Hank xD
In countering what they saw as abuse of power, Taoist writers did with their communicative skills what Taoist martial artists did with dismantling arming moves and pressure points.

He talks in such a confusing way that even Hank fell through with his plan to kick his ass.
It’s not confusing, it’s like a song from The Lion King.
@@erichwashausen4602 Wait. Are you saying that Hank not kicking his ass is justified!?
@@michaelhuynh4953 No, I'm saying he is talking like a song from The Lion King.
@@michaelhuynh4953 yes
He told him to prove that ass kicking and Hank folded.
Imagine when Avatar Aang was actually on King of the Hill standing beside 3 of them and Hank said " I'm gonna kick your ass" Aang would gonna kick Hank's ass for real
would gonna
"You're talking like a song from the lion king" 😂😂
As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart, the wind can not overturn a mountain.
TheOfficialCzex I've read through the dhammapada a couple times and it's actually "as the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart, so does happiness follow the man with a pure mind acts" and it says it again, but unhappiness and an impure mind. It's literally the first two statements in the text
The Cyber Satyr that killed you for this.
The Cyber Satyr That makes so much more sense than what the monk in the video said. As Hank said, what he said made no sense
@@aaronlandry3934 It's a very simple statement. He's saying that they have no power to change what is divine will. The wind cannot overturn a mountain, the cart wheel can't escape being drawn by the ox, and the monk can't stop Bobby from being a lama.
Crazy Eyes Huh, you made honest sense of that seemingly random sentence. Maybe the monk was right about it making perfect sense?
"I'm gonna kick your ass!"
"If my ass is going to be kicked, then it will be kicked! 🙏"
Hank should've said, "You're going to tell my son he's not a lama. That is a direct order, and you will comply with it."
King of the Hill is genius. I pity those who don't understand.
@@35hre When I read his comment, I immediately thought about the "High IQ" copypasta and hoped it would be the reply below. You did not dissapoint.
Ville Koskela I have a friend who hates King of the Hill but thinks you need to be smart to understand Rick and Morty... He’s an Imbecile.
the one and only rusty shakleford I never understood why they say that. Sure rick and Morty is a good show, but if you needed to be smart to understand it then it wouldn’t be in adult swim lol
@@pablosanchez5294 Having not seen the show, I can only speculate, but perhaps it subtly weaves in more refined notions while still being enjoyable on the surface, much like shows for kids sneak in innuendos that go over the kids' heads?
Regardless, the meme is unfalsifiable. If you get mocked like that, there is no way for you to actually prove that you're legitimately smart; not that many people would be terribly eager to admit that anyone tangible is smarter than them...
Tiger Tamer fam I have seen many rick and morty fans say you have to be smart to understand the show it’s all over social media and that was before people started to make the joke.
The only person to stand up to Hank and not even try to
Except Bobby does that all the time, so maybe it makes sense he was suspected to be a Llama.
The only person who could counter the ass kicking
OK when he says wind cannot overturn a mountain, I’m fairly certain that came from Mulan. Like here’s a quote from the emperor from Mulan when he’s being threatened by the villain. “No matter how much the wind blows the mountain cannot bow.” that is not a lion king reference
*Hwat the?*
Hank is the one who really wiped out the Air Nomads.
That's why I like these guys: they mess with people by confusing them with the honest truth.
No ... He spoke "facts,""" as if said "facts" had *ANYTHING* to do with the matter at hand ...
(What does that have anything to do: with the price of potatos, in China... ??)
See argument fallacies, and False equivalence

I demand to see something like this in a political debate
Dang Aang grew up pretty fast 😳
Song from the lion king. Lol
I love how frustrated Hank gets when he finds someone who is calm about a potential ass kicking
Strategy: use confusion to defeat your enemy's mind.
This is how you deal with trolls
hahaha god i love this show, i wish it would have stayed on longer. we need more shows like king of the hill and south park
i hear seth macfarlane is trying to reboot it
biscuit he better not
macfarline is a talentless hack
It had 13 seasons. That's a pretty good run
It is better for a good show to end while it is good, than to continue until it becomes The Simpsons.
It's amazing how by saying the most logical response, it subverts my expectations so much it makes me laugh this hard.
This is, by far, the best “I’m gonna kick your ass” in the whole show.
As a Buddhist, I found this whole episode, and more so this scene, to be hillarious.
This monk has the biggest balls
You see...the pacifist way isn't to refuse to fight your enemies. It's to annoy them into submission.
Finally the RUclips algorithm recommended this to me
The circle of life doesn't make any sense to Hank lol
I mean, he does sell the stuff that cooks half of it.
