I love Domestica course from Daniel, and still trying to grasp this oily feel in my drawings. Glad there is more to learn from Daniel from this series.
Excellent work, as always, Daniel! I'm really excited to see your work, doing some of the other artists too. Sargent, Van Gogh, Zorn, Monet - the Masters at work. Sargent would have enjoyed your process and outcome!
Are you sharing you brushes anywhere, Daniel? Would love to play around with them! Thanks for yet another great and educational video. I remember going to Rebelle back at Rebelle 4, due to one of your videos.
I've been sitting around with rebelle 5 for about a week or 2 trying to learn how to tweak the tools. I don't like color picking or using the color wheel. I like mixing the paint and picking out the results there. Either on the mixing palette or on the canvas. Paint and Mix selection for me wasn't working at all. Out of the box it was no different from the PAINT selection. There was no viewable mixing occuring. I had to open up the global brush curve and put the paint portion pressure very close to high and then lower the paint amount very low. Then the paint mixed when I painted on top of other paint. After that, I tried out Dirty brush mode get some of the mixture around. When I needed to reload with clean paint, I just turned dirty brush off and re picked the color from the mixing palette. When I needed to get a mixture and continue to mix it while I paint, I turned back on dirty brush mode. I dislike using paint and blend. Sometimes I am blending and then paint falls out. It could be my pen but it's annoying. I don't know if I can fix that in the curves. I'll have to play around with that. So when I need to blend, I use the separate blend selection. However, with the paint and mix and dirty brush I can go in there and paint in transitions and avoid blending altogether. I use [paint and mix ] and [blend] for now. I like that I have to paint over the mixed color portion to get the actual color on the brush to show over since it's mixing also when I paint. It allows some variation on the subject I am painting.
Thanks for your feedback! Both Paint&Mix and Paint&Blend can be adjusted according to your needs. Also, have you tried using Rebelle Mixing Palette for the color mixing? You can blend colors there as well.
He's using the color picker and choosing it off of the reference using the ALT button!!! I personally mix mine in the mixing palette. I never use the reference or color wheel to choose my colors as they dont tend to be in the same color area....Like one red is wildly different than the other...mixing on the palette makes this almost impossible. As the colors are from the same paint. Unless one introduces more colors on the palette they want to mix.
I like to use the color square and HSV settings. But if you are just starting out and need to make it simple, you can hold the "alt" key and grab the color from the reference image

Beautiful Daniel! How long did the process we are seeing timelapsed take in real time?
Thank you! I think it was about an hour. I will double check!
