It's funny how metal bands are actually the most down to earth and normal people in real life lol
+scott744 yet you are obviously biased there is no way you can back up a statement like that
+ShyGuyDY But the fans are fucking garbage. Just go to Metal injection fb page and you will see
+ShyGuyDY Well except for Phil Anselmo.
+Jake Fitzgerald i was at a slipknot concert last year, someone lost their phone during a mosh pit and every person in the area stopped what they were doing, pulled out their flash lights from their phones and looked for it. That person got their phone back within 20 seconds, good luck getting that to happen at a lil' wayne concert.
+ShyGuyDY
Slipknot aren't metal though.
"rare unmasked moment" except they are unmasked in 75% of interviews since 2008
only rare if it was craig unmasked
They wear masks to hide their identities from aliens. ruclips.net/video/LiDiLYWJG38/видео.html
It’s the BBC, did you expect facts ?😂
Dude it's BBC, give them a break.
Not all
Give a man a mask and he will show you his true self
+Joseph Heron (TOJO) So, so deep.
Preach
+Joseph Heron (TOJO) spot on, man.
+Joseph Heron (TOJO) Pretty spot on.
yup.
this band got me through alot of hard times in life. always will be a favorite of mine
+Andrew MC I know how that feels. The first time I listened to Slipknot was during the first album and I was in high school. Not the best place to be fan of nine freaks wearing masks, and their music helped me a lot. And every time something bad happened to me, they released a new album that made me feel good. Last one, .5, shortly before my ex left me. And there they were, with their music ready to make me drain all the bad feelings and rage in me.
So, as long as I'm feeling good (as I am now), don't expect a Slipknot album.
+nmlss Damn bro, it's good to know that I'm not the only one to notice that when things got heavy in life Slipknot managed to release new music... it's like they just KNEW. They'll always be one of my favorites mainly because they knew what to say and when to.
+nmlss if it's no albums when you good can you have one bad day please haha
Andrew MC Yeash, Slipknot is like a Dark version of Pink Floyd. God bless both of those bands.
Slipknot heals me like Pink Floyd.
Its surprising the bbc are even mentioning slipknot. Considering what they normally show
+Fredwardo228
What??? I don't think you know what the BBC is then.
yes i do because im british aswell. they dont normally cover bands like slipknot until last year when they were on tour after releasing their new album.
+Fredwardo228 I'm so happy about this. I mean the change. I would like if people knew more about these bands and their background so they might understand why we like them, not only as musicians but as a certain individual. :)
couldnt agree more mate :)
Why are you guys acting like Slipknot were a total underground band... they won fucking Grammy Awards and are all over MTV and shit...
Lol "a rare unmasked moment"? Not only is Corey also in Stone Sour and does a ton of other stuff outside of Slipknot, Clown pretty much gives every interview these days unmasked.
+2 Words 1 Finger how about no?
Thought the same thing lol
I think it's a metaphor, maybe
Richard Raithby I just commented that😂
Craig would be the one I'd pay to see
Shawn made a whole career by hitting a keg lmao
It makes a good sound though. Listen to the intro of Don't get close.
I hate it when they interview the fans on this sort of documentary. it makes us all look stupid
Joseph Greef well it just shows them not you or me lol 😉
Maybe cuz they're adults at times 🤔😜
Sweeds...
Agreed
Joseph Greef because you are
Short Answer: It's liberating.
Long Answer: It's liberating and some women are reeeeeaaaally turned on by it.
Best answer: "Its liberating, and by it, I mean my madness because LIBERATE... MY MADNESS"
Are they though, like forreal?
Slipknot for life
@@paradigmshiftz7 I think you mean...
LIBERATE BANANAS
I personally connected to much with Corey's All Hope is Gone mask. It literally looks into your soul and says, "This is what I've been through, and what I am now." It perfectly represents him. All the fucked up things he's been through, that mask just shows that how empty his life was.
It's my favorite corey mask, something about it is just so eeriely blank
Devil in i is such a good song
Jaeden Harroun its sorta became a poser song now tbh but it is a pretty good song
BLEACH Not for drinking unless you feel like it yeah i agree. Wait and bleed is my favorite
i love it, this is my favourite song of all time and i don't care what some people say about that
Wait and bleed is my fav but duialty is up there
It’s sucks
i'm an '80s baby and a '90s kid so that makes me 31 this year. growing up, i listened to marilyn manson, korn, limp bizkit, linkin park, etc. which are more "mainstream" bands. slipknot always intimidated me until recently. i've started listening to some of their stuff and researching what they're all about and where they come from. while i don't connect with their sound, i greatly respect and appreciate their artistry and aesthetic. they're clearly incredible live performers!
the idea of wearing masks that evolve as the person inside evolves is a brilliant footnote to the story they're presenting to the world. it seems that wearing their respective masks and having them evolve organically is very cathartic for them as individuals.
then i got to thinking about twenty one pilots (tyler joseph & josh dun) and the ways in which they use ski masks as part of the blurry face aesthetic. they wear them in an attempt to make themselves faceless. tyler has stated that the masks help take away his and josh's ownership of the music and aesthetics thereby giving the ownership of those things to the fans.
i think the juxtaposition of slipknot's masks and TØP's masks is really interesting. slipknot's masks are rooted in personal catharsis while TØP's masks represent the external catharsis for their audience. it's just so neat seeing two completely different kinds of bands using the same medium in different ways!
(sorry for basically writing a book in the comment section!)
I like how you worded that. Your reasoning makes great points.
John Brown thank you!
80's babies for the win! I don't know about you but I miss the 90's. Mostly the, oftentimes, one-hit wonders. "So tell me what you want, what you really really want". 😜 Like you, I didn't really follow them until after they had been out for awhile. What attracted you to them?
John Brown it was an accident, really. they randomly showed up on a playlist i was listening to. i was intrigued so i gave their stuff a chance. i don't connect with their music but i dig the story behind their masks
It was an accident for me as well. A guy I used to work with brought in the soundtrack to the first 'Resident Evil' movie and that's where I first found out about them and I've been hooked to metal ever since. I think that might have been one of my first exposures to double bass in music as well. \m/
Corey's neck = thicc
Lol
i dont care about the masks anymore i just wanna know how he got that necc so thicc
Arya E 18 inch neck boi

What I say: I like metal
What people hear: I praise satan
That is the truth actually
Lol I’m a Christian Metal head and I still haven’t told my parents because they’re gonna think I’m a Satan-worshipper.
Ben Solo I feel bad just tell them. don’t worry about their opinion. It’s your life!
Even i am a muslim like metal music too(except doom, black & death metal).and it doesnt make me a satan worshipper.and i never forget abou my religion.

Rare unmasked appearance? What is this 2006? They're unmasked all the time now lol
FR
It was a joke mate. A joke that you missed.
ImmortalMachine not Craig 133 Jones
ImmortalMachine except for Craig. If I remember correctly, there aren't any public pictures or videos of him without his mask on.
yes there are. a good example is the paul gray remembrance conference thing they did in 2010. that was his first time unmasked
when clown turns around and says "ready to go!" craig is seen on the left side of the screen
+Jay Hardy jeeze they do look kinda similar, but how do you know for sure?
+sandsnakesinmypants Because you can see jim wearing his mask
Chris, mick and Jay have their long hair out corey has his hair out but they are shorter than all the three other long haired members which mean he doesn't wear a hood like the person does and sid looks way different and then there's alex who has a beard and a mustache and you can see clown in the middle of the screen which means there is only one member left and oh here:
i.ytimg.com/vi/-bmC1i9LEFM/hqdefault.jpg
Well hot damn i think we have a winner
+sandsnakesinmypants and if you pause at the right moment you can see his number

Charles Draper damn right
i just love how genuine they are. especially corey, you can 100% tell he is a genuine guy. and deep down he seems really sweet

You missed primus
For me, metal is an education, it shows you what is right and what is wrong, and how shits gonna go down if you make wrong decision or take the wrong path, it actually tells you how to distinguish the good and evil, for example ,if you want to teach your kid not to play with fire, well obviously you need to show them what will happen if you lit fire with flour, it's the same thing, if you want to stay away from evil you ostensibly need to know what is evil, that's how metal comes to education.
This is the stupidest thing I've ever read in my entire life
Brandon Boyette It's alright cuz it does sound a bit silly lol and it's only my thought, anyone can comment on it
+magik lam No joke, that was beautiful man!
You also get to listen to some sick beats
Sabaton is also educational, they do songs about major battles like ww1, ww2, country revolutions, etc
I love how well spoken Corey is
Wait, why are BBC 2 showing us Slipknot videos... shouldn't they be showing us Antiques Roadshow reruns?
Not that I like Antiques Roadshow reruns. I don't.
LMAO at this comment
Zank Frappacino Liar.
😂😂😂
One of my all time favorite bands! I started listening to them in middle school. About 15 years of listening to them kick ass and I never knew Corey wasn't their original lead singer. Glad he joined though cause he is a sick vocalist and a great songwriter.
We all wear masks....
Jeff Goldblum no just you buddy.
...technologically speaking
(I got the reference 😉)
@@toad15fan are mask is our outside and are true self is inside so yeah we wear mask
Its Dyl nah, you don’t. Metaphorically speaking...
That comment aged well XD
lol who else already knew why they wear the masks before watching this video?
any and every slipknot fan
or the true/serious ones at least
Angel Westbrook mate, feed, kill, repeat
Angel Westbrook true fans
brandon murray yep i bet you no one gets that one
There first album is my absolute favorite of all. The others are good but man. That first album just really stands out for me.
MrTwatwaffle007 same for me, i love all of their stuff but 1st Album is also #1 for me, is it only me or does that album has the best drum sound and best corey’s rapping of them all? I wanna know your opinion
the new we are not your kind is my fav!!
It’s pure raw metal
@@nicolasfracchia
Agreed- that level of passion from all of them really came through for me..that album got me to hit 120 driving more than a few times..lol
You don't need friends when you have a Slipknot playlist
Wow documentaries on Slipknot in the UK are so bland. Sound like the narrator only just did their homework on them
+David Lance Because that is what happened there. You don't have to be a fan of everything when you are a reporter.
+David Lance You must be the brains of the outfit...
well slipknot are bland! all of these numetal bands thrash out the same sounding shit! Slayer, pantera have more talent in their little finger!
Because Spit It Out, People = Shit, Snuff and Killpop are all the same.
That’s because the BBC aren’t typically people who cover Metal, she was probably not even a fan, she just did her research quickly before interviewing them probably, if it were metal hammer or Kerrang it would probably be less ‘bland’
I'm gonna see them in less than week, I'm SO PUMPED!!!!
+Plasma Same, Alexandra palace in London :)
Hell yeah!! Same!
I'm Fine Best night of my life
luckyyyyy
+Plasma u suck
I like how while the rest of the band changed their masks, Craig Jones just added longer nails to his mask.
At least it's a good method to keep people a feet away from him during this Covid19 season 😂
At first I agreed with people who said that new Corey's mask is kinda meh compared to older ones but the more I looked at it the more I started to like it and it kinda started growing on on me. It kinda somehow looks modern and fits in these modern times.
Tagic Mrooper yea and to me it's very realistic
i like it when it's black around his eyes, it looks fantastic
but still my favourite is the one from All Hope Is Gone
They’re always masked, they puts on their real faces for the show
Corey says "visceral" quite a lot.
All of the fans are great
Jim Root seemingly one of the nicest guys alive.
I feel it man. I feel more myself with a guitar in my hands and a mask over my face. I like to bring the mysteriousness out. I like to bring out my inner self. Like the mask I'm wearing in my picture, that's just for now. I want a gasmask. And that just shows that I'm tired of the toxins in this world, and I play my guitar to shed away from there and show people that we can be better, that music can move us. It doesn't matter if its metal or not, but honestly, metal speaks more truth and teaches more moral lessons than anything else.
what are u on bro
Craig Jones is the most mysterious one of them all
The Clown is a pretty chill dude without his mask
Skipknot and BBC. My two favorite things.
I'm Brazilian and I think this is really fantastic. Very happy to enjoy the best band of our time
you can see the whole band at 4:46
0:53 the guy must be pissed to have a Chris fehn tattoo when he ain't in the band anymore
Jordan Mundy he’s still part of slipknot tho
No i am not pissed at all dude! He is more slipknot than tortilla man will ever be!
@@pontusjohansson1912 tortilla man is a good replacement but he isn't as good as the og
0:57 - 0:59
Those drums and guitar are killer
This band still stirs up feelings in me like no other.
They wear them to show the shit they've been thru. Coz behind them, inside each mask, is so uncomfortable to show how much pain and suffering they've been thru
Slipknot, the band of y’knows 😂🤣
slipknot mean so much to me, I saw them in Cardiff they were Amazing ive been listening to them since 1999 there first self title album and there never disappointing I love them so much.
(R.I.P Paul grey*
Rest In Peace Joey and Paul.
Can't wait to see them in Leeds next week :D
Im going too 😆
+David me too man! >:D
+David Can't wait to see them in Birmingham TONIGHT!!!!!!!
1:02 that neck
Honestly that's the best explanation I have heard about the power of having a mask.
masks go back to ancient greek theater, japanese theater, chinese (i think). (in venice it was not theater). A rock show is theater. so it is a classic idea and they brought it back very nicely.
4:36 Craig Jones on left side?
Craig at roughly ~4:35-36
I love quite a bit of Slipknot's music...but I gotta be honest, the first time that I saw them...Mick Thompson's mask was one that freaked me out the most...totally gruesome and awesome, scary as all hell...the stuff nightmares are made of...LOVE IT!!! One of my favorites.
2:04 i thought he was going to say "it was casserole" lmaooo.
I love them so much oh god this is sick as fuck
+Iliana Ledoux you mean (sic) as fuck right? :P
in a rare unmasked moment lol, now a days they pretty much only wear there masks when performing or doing press Interview at a Festival or Gig
This hits really close to home. Most of the times when I go to my standard pub I'm wearing corpse paint or some other form of mask. Theres people who know me there who don't recognise me without my paint. Makes you act different as well.
I'm 20 and was brought up by metal bands through my parents, mainly slipknot. I'm talking 7, 8, 9 years old. And through meeting people as I got older and being exposed to different cultures I took a serious interest in rap music for the longest time. But something in me keeps latching back to my musical roots..
I miss the days when I didn't know who was under the mask. They're still amazing but I miss those days \m/
Men is least himself when he talks in his own person give him a mask and he will tell u the truth........ Oscar Wild
SLIPKNOT BEST 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌏🌎🌍
I fuckin love the Slipknot philosophy.
The cover is Jim Root.
The video doesn't feature Jim Root.
Is it just me or does Corey's mask look like it was molded off of Jeffrey Hatrix' face? Lead singer of from Mushroomhead.
It does!!!
theres a saying, every human has 3 masks. one to show to the close ones, one for public and one that no one ever saw except themselves.
Still going in 2020! I saw them at the O2 and they were awesome !
I remember an interview when they said,
"Jesus approached us in a giant muffin and said, wear masks."
the masks make me get off too lady.
Batman: "The mask isn't for you; it's for the people you love."
This band gave me a new found respect for metal. I never gave it a listen till i heard slipknot.
The only person i see wearing a mask is the interviewer.
"It gets me off"
I was like "tf"
Long live to KNOT ❤
0:36 my favorite
if you don't know.. you are not a fan. PERIOD.
thank you. I just came here because I'm bored
They're masks are sooooo sick

+MrSyngamer thanks grammar man
You're welcome. Trying to make the world better by fixing one your and they're at a time
+Sj gaming It's not grammar, it's common sense.
+FlipperWolf i wouldn't say they're it was autospell
Slipnkot are enlighted being, they are inspirations. You won't love them for being good but on being honest and giving awareness that man should not escape the devil in him but face it until he learn to overcome it, control it until you tame it.
Shout out to all you in Leeds on Saturday see you there!!!
corey taylor is fine
but is it ok to use as covid 19 mask🤔
As long as the mouth ia covered
And that's why I, guitar player & vocals for Visceral Remembrance where a bandana of my face! Love these dudes!
I 💘 the way they explained the meaning behind the mask and clown seems very smart guy
4:32 we miss u chris :(
I mean, I've personally watched waaaaaay too many horror movies so masks terrify me, but... yeah, pretty cool.
I'm not a hardcore Slipknot fan, but I like a couple songs and love Stone Sour... might have to check out more though. I'm slowly expanding the variety of music I listen to, so I suppose I could give Slipknot another chance.
That was wise words when clown said that none of us really know what we look like.
When we look at ourselves in a mirror the image is reversed so we never get to truly see what we look like. We only seen our mirror image and photos and videos.
Taking the world to another level
Kinda awesome how intimidating they are on stage but they're just really cool and down to earth people off of it.
Who cares why they wear masks it's a part of a reason they are the best band in the WORLD devil in I fingers in my eyes psychosocial these gentlemen are the bomb awesome band
*THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD*
Metal w real emotion... RAW EMOTION... TIED together w some melody in a (SLIPNOT) pun intended
I love SLIPKNOT ❤❤❤❤
Awesome video!!
The mask add another dimension to the show and music. I love it👍
“For me it’s like religion”🖤🤘
I wouldn't mind a tour of masked metal bands for 2016.
This lady’s voice unnerves me
Fkn 20 years ago i was skipping school to go shoplift their new album
i love slipknot
