I've always mentally heard Greensleeves musically as a slow, hauntingly beautiful song. This is vocally close to the right accompaniment in my mind! Awesome version!
Dear Mary, I just heard a version of the song you are doing which I have loved all my life! Thanks so n=much for sharing it with us! Neal from Boston, Ma. :))
Excellent as usual, Mary!!🎶👍💯. Hope to see you soon in Tucson, and this time, your Audience will be even Bigger, as I have gotten a lot of People to listen to you on RUclips, to your music, and they to fell in love with your Music!! Have a Great Year!!😁🎼
Since I have recently discovered the music of Mary James, I have been totally blessed. What a wonderful talent. I only regret having not heard her beautiful music earlier in life.
Beautiful rendition - I first heard you perform at the Blackhawk Folk Festival in WIsconsin several years back when a group I was in was performing as well. I became a fan that day of yours. I am especially intrigued by the nylon strings on the 6 string banjo. Love the sound - so much so I may do the same with my 6 string Gold Tone banjo. What gauges did you utilize and how did you solve the loop end? All of that aside - Loved it!!
Dear Lord girl, that was fine! I love that old song. Years ago I had a chance to play 6 string banjo. I don't know how to play banjo, so I tuned it like my guitar and had a big time! The banjo disappeared in a family feud and I haven't seen it since.❤️🌹
Well done. The tune has survived for 100’s of years as it is so special. I wonder just how many songs use the tune? What Child Is This is the one that I can think of offhand. The nylon six string banjo is perfect for the tune. It has a timeless sound.
If the tale is true, Henry VIII wrote this about/for Anne Boleyn. He was a talented musician and poet. . . and a tyrannical mamzer. Your rendition of the song is lovely!
Nice rendition. I like your choice of instruments here too, the nylon 6-string banjo has such a warm sound. I bought the same model Deering a few years ago, and it's since become one of my favorite instruments to play.
You do know your instrument! Excellent choices! -Have you ever heard of Filby's Theme? It's a short melancholy passage, from the old TIME MACHINE movie. Along with GREENSLEEVES it is a favorite of mine. Thank you for posting your beautiful self!

Mean Mary forever!!!
Even if Old Harry didn't really write it for coy Anne, your singing this ancient song is still fit for a king.
Mary, your music is always so beautiful. Chills for me!

Awesome song, I was in 4th or 5th grade and the music teacher would play songs for un on her guitar and sing. I have loved this song since then.
Never heard anybody sing that song. Only heard it as What Child Is This. That's beautiful, especially with your voice.
One of my favorite songs. Done well by a woman with a beautiful voice and much talent picking!
I'm old and first saw you on Merv Griffin, I think. One of them shows. You were like six or so.

No actually, in Merry Ole England in Henry VIII, prostitutes wore green colored clothes to announce their trade.
Nice rendition. I like your choice of instruments here too, the nylon 6-string banjo has such a warm sound. I bought the same model Deering a few years ago, and it's since become one of my favorite instruments to play.
Absolutely beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that song right though before. Amazing stuff, I really loved it. Thank You so much.
