Yeah we had to read it over the holidays but so forgot and reading a book of that size in half a day is unreasonable

In the book Leisel and Rudy are malnourished, extremely thin with worn and dirty clothes and greasy hair, not clean smart and well fed with neat hair as in the movie. I think they could have cast naturally skinny actors and made their appearance more true to the book.

The narrator in the book was "the death" and in the beginning when the death introduced itself i love the book more than the movie

I preferred the actual German words than the English interpretation, It would have been nice as it was a thing between her and rudy

The movie is a mockery of all the victims of WW2. It's romanticizes something that shouldn't be romanticized. I'm German and I hate it so much when americans make blockbusters about beautiful books and just destroy them and bent them to their american way of thinking. They just mock the real history. It's honestly shows the American way of thinking. Everything has to be inspirational or something. War is not polished or inspirational, it's ugly cruel and grey. The fact alone how groomed and clean and healthy the children look in the movie, is so far away from reality and the book

Does anyone know if there are any sentences from the book that were literally put into the film? If so, which ones?
