Waiting for the Daniel Arnold walkie talkie 😎
People say it on every episode, but it's probably my turn: These videos are more motivating than maybe anything else on youtube to just get the hell out of the house and shoot. It's so easy to stay locked into watching videos or reddit, and finding the discipline to consistently take photos is not easy. Watching these masters of the craft do their stuff and learning more about how they tick makes me want to be there in the street shooting again. Thanks dude!
There's quite a range in personalities and approaches, and it's well presented from what I've watched on this series so far. And then there's the undercurrent throughout which really resonates for me.
I should head to a big town a few times to do some street, and see if I can take some things I experience/confidence to being able to do it more locally and smaller :)
Please never stop making walkie talkies its the only content i look forward to
this guy takes some really really great photos jesus
Another great episode of the best street photography series on RUclips.
Every week i'm stuck to my screen waiting for one of these videos to drop. NEVER STOP!!!
Noun vs a verb. This is going to stick with me for a while. Such a great way to visualize it. When you finally take a “verb” photo it’s an amazing feeling.
Yeah Jorge!!!! Such an incredibly humble dude. Amazing episode as always!
facts I get the same energy - and i met him before. was mad kind and it shows in this video as well
much love to jorge
My favorite series!!!
Such a good dude
Mate this is the only street channel I watch religiously now
Fav dude
Hahaha I love that one of the first things Jorge remarks on is food. Thats how I remember him from one of his classes back in 2019 :D. A legend in the NYC scene.
He has a good eye , love the photos!
what a rad resource! Thanks Jorge for facilitating so much organization around photo education and community. Hope to connect in some of the offerings. thanks from nor cal, super inspiring! And thanks Paulie for continuing to have such great guests!
Thanks to you both for your concern and contributions...
please keep this POV interviews with fellow street photographers going. it's inspirational and motivates me to shoot street in my small town. wonderful videos you do.
finally jorge! nyc spc inspires me to start a collective in my city too but idk if there are a lot of street photographers who shoot film where im from
Love this guy
Jorge definitely built a really important organization in NYC for the New York photography community
Can't get enough of these Walkie Talkies man, such good stuff. Big love from Scotland
🤩That zombie cop photo was everything!!! Also the one where the lightskin black lady had the curl hair nd looked stressed. 🤣Its like typical NYC life
So appreciate this series. Honestly beautiful.
Jorge your black and white work on here is amazing!
Wow im surprised this one wasn't done yet! Dope, dope!
Beautiful pictures Jorge, quality stuff, no doubt and one of my favourite on this channel.
Great you started that collective, excellent idea and initiative.
Great interview too, Pauli.
You guys rock
Thanks for sharing
Absolutely my fav episode so far. Was so much more about the artist not taking photos.
Jorge processed all my color photos at his Contact Photo lab when I was in NYC. He's a great guy and doing important work for the community.
Thanks! I really like this guy. He knows his stuff.
Fav channel 🙌
What you're doing is really cool, Paulie. I have been in a photography rut for a few years now and these videos are inspiring me to go out there and take more pictures. Thank you♥
I just have to say (everytime) that this series is the best ever. Another sweet episode, thanks!
As usual, amazing episode. Reading the shoutout list he added made me think that I would absolutely LOVE an episode with Sara Messinger!
His B&W's really stand out!
the anecdote of the flower cowboy is probably one of the best i've heard. Try to go deeper from what you just see, wait for the decisive moment, thats what photo is about.
Love it!
Awesome work as always, inspiring stuff, thanks my dude
awesome
Good
😍Amazing!
the goat
❤️
Awesome
"Noun vs Verb" is going to have me thinking the next time i got shoot going forward.
Jorge-I hope that your color film prediction does not come to pass…
📸
good stuff dude
Damn ! How did you miss the shot at 12:10... No just kidding ! Good episode again :)
get augie on here
come to berlin!!
We need a Paulie b walkie talkie
I'm curious to know what Jorge meant by color film chemistry's supporting environment not being around and perhaps no longer around in 10 years. Why is that? What's the difference with b/w chemistry that it might make it be around for longer? If anyone has any insights they're welcome!
Colour chemistry will only disappear when the big features stop shooting film. It might evolve into more environmentally friendly solutions but it’s here until Hollywood stops using it.
@@lensaero you're right regarding ecn2, but Hollywood isn't using c41.
@@seanc5718 If they're making film they'll be making chemicals. Kodak just took on 60 more people for the super 8 line alone. They can't keep up with demand, look at any of the film resellers in the US or Europe and you'll see 'awaiting stock' on a regular basis. It's just business, if the demand is there somebody will supply what's needed.
funny talking about legacy at trump tower :P
11:38 could’ve been a nice picture hahaha
Can you only be a street photographer in NYC? Many folk here have said they moved to NYC to do street photography.
What’s street like in other places?
I know the above is a dumb comment. But I think it’s important that other people love documenting where they live and don’t think the only way to be successful is to move to NYC.
This series is great and interviews people in the NYC scene.
Definitely not. Some of the older videos feature Memphis, New Orleans, etc.
Check out the works of Fred Herzog who mostly photographed his native Vancouver. Or Vivian Meier who photographed in Chicago. Cartier-Bresson who is mentioned has a lot of famous street photos he took in all parts of the world across many decades.
New York offers more opportunities because it has such busy streets. But it also probably has more street photographers per square mile than anywhere else.
jorge took one photo lol great video nonetheless
Pizza? Banger. Those eyes!
Haha I was wondering if there would be anything interesting that he’d take a pic of!
I guess you have to be choosey if you want to do street photo with medium format film. He’s only got 10 shots per roll in that Mamiya 7.
@@williamlasl that makes sense
Why was the interview with the Trevors deleted?
Thanks Paulie. "no colour film in 10 years"! Big call.
🧢
Daddy
That sucks that he thinks color film won’t be around in 10 years 😔
I see photographers fall into what I consider a trap of "meaning making" when analyzing their photos. As in 13:54 he's describing all this meaning he made out of his snapshot, their steps and even the little sign on the crosswalk, when it actually doesn't read that way. That particular photo reads as just a mix of people walking on the street. I notice other photographers doing that in this series, picking motifs out of their photos that are present upon inspection but not part of how the photo is really perceived. One theory of mine is that the elements that play into the perception of a photo, beyond the light and subject, are more tied to the divisions of the frame so to speak, proportions and symmetry and what not. Just to offer an alternative to the conversation instead of just ripping on it.
"whats the point if you don't print" I don't have the space for a MF darkroom bruh. But I got room on my desk for an 8200i and I decide what my jpgs look like, so like, chill, ok?
It takes a small bathroom, $50 travel enlarger or similar, and a couple trays. I set up my darkroom for about $85 not including chems. So rewarding though. It’s one of those things that is hard to ignore once you’ve seen it.
Just have a lab do it for you lol
@@ianolafsenn That’s hard to find these days. Probably harder than doing it yourself. Most labs only have inkjet printers.
I don’t understand how someone even makes a living at street photography
I don’t think anyone featured on walkie-talkies make a living at street photography. In fact about three episodes back there was Q&A where all the photographers said they do something else for money.
Street photography with a Mamiya 7? This guy’s rich!
nice 👍 @ official Angrygoldstar needs be next on street Walkie talkie ‘ vid 😅😊
