I’ve been to all the quarries in North Wales as a kid. Over the years my dad worked at every single site. He was a well known, and very much sought after, fabrication welder. He had his own business. I remember one quarry was just full of big mechanical machinery (JCB diggers etc) and drivers wizzing back and too. There where big holes everywhere! The sides would just start falling down, rubble and rocks. Then my dad showed me “the blue lagoon”. WOW! The water was a beautiful colour. Bluey/green in colour, and so clear. It was mesmerising! ….I couldn’t see the bottom though. I remember asking my dad how deep it was, and he told me that no one knew! People had tried to measure it but it was impossible they said. They believed there was no bottom to the lagoon. I idolised my dad…especially when he’d let me go on all the JCBs, diggers and cranes with him ☺️😄. Thanks for uploading this, fella’s. It took me right back to being a kid again 😊
That tunnel used to lead to another quarry, however the council used it as a landfill site from the 70's to 2009 when it was filled in and capped. There is all sorts of nasty stuff coming through the mountain, and they've spent thousands on gas monitoring and water purification.
It's not an unchartered mine, it's the drainage adit for pen Yr orsaf quarry. It's a quarry, open workings. A mine is underground. We all love old mines and abandoned quarries, and enjoy watching, but please, GET Helmets when exploring tunnels. I used to be no helmet until I got a helmet and a rock fell on my head, would have killed me if not for helmet.
I heard on the news today in Australia, that a man was stuck in a mine shaft somewhere in Wales, I immediately thought one of you 3 silly buggers were final caught underground
had the exact same response... but then they discussed how the stuck guy was "an experienced, fit caver", so I knew it wasnt one of our lads. bwahahaha
A common misconception. It's true that bad ground can have very little reverb, however this is not always the case. A huge variety of factors can change the acoustics in a mine so you should never rely on this. I have been in many underground chambers cut into solid rock with virtually no echo, and they were perfectly safe and sound.
I dont think that's true in this case as the walls were layered slate and that would of absorbed most of the sound like how acoustic panels work and if you noticed, when they left that walled off section, the echo returned which highlights how the slate wall was the cause of the anechoic chamber.
The anxiety show first thing in the morning, jesus. You know you're in trouble when Norton is the voice of reason. Might have been a blast furnace, they have vertical shafts with a mechanism at the top.
If your going into any tunnels i would suggest you have a gas and oxygen monitor, or a canary, your choice obviously, but take one with you regardless and maybe get a confined space course under your belt so you know what to do in an emergency, better safe than sorry. Great videos by the way.

250 people have just been involved in the rescue of a very experienced caver who became injured exploring a cave and it took 2 days to get him out. Then we have Hell On Earth!
Scary because those water soaked slate bricks look as if they’d collapse down into the narrow passage, whereas solid rock cave walls are much stronger and dependable.
"Is it solid rock? Yes its not this slate brick stuff? yes- no its not slate brick? no its slate its rock? no like a traditional mine? yes right okay" 😂😂12:05
It's a slate dressing shop, they drag the slate out on little carts on those rails. They split the slate, then cut it up . Then put it o racks, graded by size, eg 18" by 12", or 9" by 6 ". Then it gets hung on those hooks waiting for a hoss & cart to cart it away. The swing jib crane is top load the carts.
Beautiful mine, what we saw of it. That’s hella cool, though, how they built those little ledges every so often to put the planks on and run the track, genius way to drain the mine and not have to slog through muck and water. Quite unique.... Never seen that in any other mine, actually.
you guys do have some awesome history there, in western north america our history is so young.. we dont have the ancient mines like you guys do! love the explores
You do realize that Egyptian artifacts found to have copper from Lake Erie ? They are ruins on North America, just got look . We have history in North America from past civilizations , however this doesn’t fit with current narratives . There many other examples.
Let's be honest, we all keep on watching Al's back hoping for Lloydy to get stuck in the mud blocking the passage for Al who is deeper in the mine all the while Norton is stood outside too scared to go in and save them.
I personally go down mines and watch videos on them to see if there is any old things still down there.. my rule is never touch walls or timber and keep left if it splits off, so you know your way back. 👍
I can't help but feeling you chaps might benefit from the purchase of a pair of wellies or two. It looked quite wet down there. Get some 'Hell on Earth' wellies in your merch shop then wear them in the next mine as a promo?

Rotting Wood in mines can produce methane. You often find low oxygen where wood is rotting too. I know you don't do health and safety, but you might want to get an oxygen meter.
@@upthehoe No worries. I don't want you guys to die before Al and Norton have had chance for the marriage to flourish 💐❤️ Such a lovely couple, and I'm not sure if it was just my eyes, or is that a little little bump I see under Al's t-shirt!?! 😲 👶🍼🤱

Deadly shit. If he hadn’t been filming and narrating, he and his buddies probably would have dropped dead.
