It seems like he is discovering phrases and chords in the exact moment he plays them. He gets so enthusiastic that he expresses his joy going on playing more and more. Those who listen feel that smile of surprise at each note. That's pure magic.
This brings me to the edge of tears. Then I find myself smiling. Then I want to practice.
Excellent players motivate us to practice. Even though most kid, I really dislike comments like I threw my guitar or gave it away or whatever doesn't inspire to get better
I could listen to this for hours. No one plays with the taste and restraint of Bill. I hope I can see him play one day.
I live in a sleepy town in Canada. By some miracle Bill played a show here about 10 years ago and completely blew our minds.. easily my most memorable musical experience

I've been obessing over his J.W. Black built Teles for months, speculating over things like fret wire, pickups, etc. None of it matters; it's all in the hands. Can't buy those. Intonation that's second to none right now.
This is wonderful but my attention wanes in and out - not from the music but from the current state of affairs. And the melodies and playing bring me back to attention of what's good in the world. thank you.

There's one or two places I'm sure I heard him play a wrong note...but with Bill you just can't ever be sure. I've been a low key fan since Tales From the Far Side many years ago...what a perfect guy to do the soundtrack for that.

He inspires you to trust your heart when you play. The fingers will follow, if you’ve put your time in. (and I believe it helps to have lost a love once or twice,at least, and healed..)
I think Bill Frisell has the most immediately recognizable sound of any working guitarist today. I could Pepsi Challenge that any day of the week -- there are so many small things that he does with phrasing and voicing and tone that are so idiosyncratic.
A generous mind-opening performance as always.
One question: is that a Sam Kinison ceramic figure under the lamp?
