It seems like he is discovering phrases and chords in the exact moment he plays them. He gets so enthusiastic that he expresses his joy going on playing more and more. Those who listen feel that smile of surprise at each note. That's pure magic.
This is the diametric opposite of being in a Guitar Center.
Ha! Yah I think it’s “ Stairway “ backwards.
That's not true. I once saw Bill Frisell in a Guitar Center - he kept playing Crazy Train on an out-of-tune, used BC Rich Warlock. Wait nvm that was somebody else...
@@samgillett7630 It was me. Are you saying I should learn more than the opening riff?
i dunno. i bet Bill Frisell could do a pretty sick version of Enter Sandman if he put his mind to it
@@jackboyce704 ha no kidding!
This brings me to the edge of tears. Then I find myself smiling. Then I want to practice.
I could listen to this for hours. No one plays with the taste and restraint of Bill. I hope I can see him play one day.
Approximate song times:
0:58 Valentine
5:35 Lotus Blossom
11:43 Hard Times
15:53 Pent Up House
19:37 Small Town
24:33 We Shall Overcome
I live in a sleepy town in Canada. By some miracle Bill played a show here about 10 years ago and completely blew our minds.. easily my most memorable musical experience
Bill is still the best. No man carries a track solo like him, it's just flawless.
I use the same straplocks. And a Tele. No other resemblances...
Thanks Bill.
prob white hair in some years
me too!
I have the same weird tube metronome and glasses, but alas no closer than you
I know the feeling. LOL
I've been obessing over his J.W. Black built Teles for months, speculating over things like fret wire, pickups, etc. None of it matters; it's all in the hands. Can't buy those. Intonation that's second to none right now.
The last thing I expected to see around this calm, relaxing music, was a statue of Sam Kinison screaming from a desk :-)
This music is a gift. Thank you for sharing it!
This is wonderful but my attention wanes in and out - not from the music but from the current state of affairs. And the melodies and playing bring me back to attention of what's good in the world. thank you.
a national treasure. unbelievable music!
know nothing about music but this is chill af (as my son says)
Bill's playing always puts a smile on my face. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful playing...the master at work!!!
Ahhh, BillI can tell that you and that guitar have been friends for a looooong time. Very sweet!
I love the spaces he leaves between the phrases. Thanks Bill.
A real master of the jazz guitar. And unique. Thank you for this, Bill.
Mr. Frisell, you are a magnificent story teller. I enjoy listening to these tales. Thank you!
Yeahhhhhhhh! Very cool!!!!
We are listening and watching pure genius.
He voices any thing you see , improvising is key , timeing depending on mood for the day i am sure he can make the same note sound different. Just natural
Thank you SRM, thank you Bill Frisell. Been following BF for 25 years, seen him many times live, have all of his records, and each time he amazes me more than the last one. He's one of the great(est) artists of our time.
Weird, blues, ambient, improv jazz. Just what I needed this morning in tahlequah
God bless art and people like you! Thanks master
WE LOVE YOU, BILL!!!!!! 😊
That’s a gorgeous looking guitar. It makes too much sense that the music coming out of it would be even more beautiful. Thanks for this, Mr. Frisell.
Thank you for your music, Mr. Frisell. Such inspired craftmanship. Always amazing, always uplifting!
Bill Frisell as relevant as ever, such inspired playing.
OK, I need to play more and practice more. Thank you Bill for the inspiration!
Absolute perfection! Thank you, Bill!
An icon, a legend with character. God bless him, you all.
THX MR BILL..GODBLESS YOU
Who I think can be one of the leading Julian Lage's initiators, or maybe the main leading.
Love for Bill Frisell ♥️
Very beautiful! A bit late to the party
Thanks for the inspiration over the years and for signing my guitar at The Ark in Ann Arbor.
Thank 💜 You LOVE
Soundtrack to all my lost keys, forgotten passwords, books ppl borrowed from me, unanswered questions.
As always, amazing. Much love, dear Bill!
Thank you from the entirety of my soul for taking us along on this journey with you. I love listening to your interpretations of your life adventure.

Mr.F... preaching the only gospel that delivers. Right Reverend.
What an awesome musician.
Your playing always encourages me. Shout out to you, Bill. One of a kind.
You are the BEST.
Greeting from JAPAN.
Just two words: Thank you!
Siempre suena bien Frisell...
Very fine and accurate guitar playing. Thank you for this, Mr. Frisell and of course happy birthday.
A true musical artist. Thanks for this!
Thanks Bill for sharing your talent with us. What a beautiful set to watch and listen.
Gorgeous.
Zoom in on his desk. It screams many things. From Sam Kinison in the corner, through the skull, to these two little smiling aliens in the front that made me smile like a child that we all are.
such a great sound
Bill Frisell is just the best.
Greetings from Kentucky. I'm a huge fan of your music. Got to see you in NYC with Ron Carter years ago. That show was a dream come true for me. Wonderful performance. Thank you for your music. You are one of the greats because your tone and sound is instantly recognizable and your music is beautiful.
Crazy perfect! Period!
Bloody period, bloody toy, Billy my boy!
"!'ll make you famous!" - William H Bonnie / Billy the Kid
I am not sure why, but trying hard to remember this guy's name made me look up Bob Weir and Bob Theil. Than, while scrolling down the search results, i found who i was looking for.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank You🙋🏻♂️
Thanks Bill.
Brilliant player! Big fan! :) really enjoyed listening.
Beautiful. Thank you, Bill!
Thank you for uploading this. It is a fantastic performance and a full of great ideas. I used to see Mr.Frisell at Seventh Avenue South. He used to use a wine color Gibson SG.
Amazing playing and amazing Frank-gadget!♥️
I wish more guitar players had this perspective and vision, people get so hung up on techniques. Thank you for the music..
We shall overcome at the end is so needed and beautiful as well. :)
Mr. Frisell was a student of Jim Hall, and it shows! Master 🙌🏾
Indeed he is!
The Maestro.
There's one or two places I'm sure I heard him play a wrong note...but with Bill you just can't ever be sure. I've been a low key fan since Tales From the Far Side many years ago...what a perfect guy to do the soundtrack for that.
Thanks Bill :-)
Love this! Also love that Sam Kinison is looking on.
Thank you Bill. This hit the spot!
Billand I have something in common: the Boss DB-30 metronome (on the desk, under the scissors)! :-)
Kool and great
Thank you Bill, Awesome sound! 2021 will be great! Peace.
Great and Beautiful! Thank you!
thank you so much for sharing this - very encouraging....
best wishes from germany
So great, Bill! Thank you.
Thanks for this.
Love this set!
Mr. Rodgers of guitar! I mean that in a good way.
He inspires you to trust your heart when you play. The fingers will follow, if you’ve put your time in. (and I believe it helps to have lost a love once or twice,at least, and healed..)
Amazing and relaxing
incredible set. thank you
I love ya Bill and you have captured the sound of Covid!
Beautiful playing as always Bill! Big love from the UK
Great little gig, thank you, sir
Very nice, thanks for doing this!
❤❤❤
A generous mind-opening performance as always.
One question: is that a Sam Kinison ceramic figure under the lamp?
Holy shit ...sure looks like Sam 🤣🤔🤣
Cool guitar
I really dig the Thelonious Monk vibe in his playing.
absolutely beautiful approach - i heard new harmonies i hadn't before
I think Bill Frisell has the most immediately recognizable sound of any working guitarist today. I could Pepsi Challenge that any day of the week -- there are so many small things that he does with phrasing and voicing and tone that are so idiosyncratic.
I so appreciate this Bill! Was supposed to see you earlier this year and then again this week with the rescheduling which has been rescheduled. Glad to see you are doing well and looking forward to hearing you (hopefully) sometime next year!
Me Too...Ed ...from The LoberoSB(Red Guitar)
Is that one of your teles made by your Eugene, Oregon luthier? P90/Mini HB? Loving "Valentine".

Claude Debussy digs this.
Looks like John Malkovich has really been sheddin lately. He's good!
@Evan Hodge No, I resemble nobody. And I don't post my life on social media. I prefer to live it.
Brooklyn....BOSE, SONY!!! c'mon man, get yourself a nice set of Grado's :)
Is that a Sam Kinison statuette on his desk!?
interesting picking technique
Anyone know what year his Hummingbird is (the one to his rear right)? Beautiful guitar.
