I love him because he doesn't play on a mix ... Most of us dont record so we dont care... If you like channels like his check lambchopper678... He has some 🔥tones as well
I've always thought of Friedman as kind of the Marshalls that should have been before Marshall went down the road of digital reverbs and noise gates and fancy midi channel switching stuff. 2 channels, a couple gain knobs, and your guitar's volume pot should be all you need and these amps definitely prove that.
FINALLY, someone played Them Bones correctly, thank you for that. I knew you were gunning for “The Superunknown” from the first notes. The Cult never sounds right without the big drums production. Where’s the -Gojira-?
That first riff always sounds insane on a Friedman/Bogner for some reason, like you can demo every Marshall derivative with it to see if it does "the thing".
Nice work Zach, you nailed Jerry’s tone! I always discover new bands from the riffs you play which is always a bonus! You introduced me to teenage wrist awhile back. Such a good band. Your demos have seriously become my favourite music related vids to watch! 😊🤘
Nice playing and I really think you did the amp justice. When you got out the silverburst lp I was expecting some Tool riffs, but it didn't happen. Liked and you got a new subscriber!
Zach, you should make a video showcasing all your guitar collection, sharing specs, opinions and tones of each guitar. Cheers, brother. Your tones are legendary.
Finally my amp yay 🎉 I think I need a Friedman cab for it as well. You make it sound awesome! Also: looking at the settings at the beginning that must have been LOUD 😅
This has been my favorite rock/hard rock amp since released. It just has THAT sound I want to hear. Even will do metal with certain kinds of boosts in front. I have the JJ Jr, which mimics the 100 flawlessly, but I have to grab the big brother and throw a 4x12 under it. Great demo.
@@asianaxeman for a 20 watt EL84 amp, it does not. It actually gets loud fast, and has a deep, warm low end. Just keep in mind being a smaller amp it won’t keep up with a 100 watt, or move as much air. But it definitely is full and rich sounding through a 2x12 or 4x12, definitely is gig capable and won’t sound like a tiny amp.
@@Childofbhaal Yes; I’ve played all 3. The Runt is a great little head for the money; it gets the BE tone but also has its own voice. Surprisingly great with cleans and taking pedals. The Pink Taco I only played once and I thought it (IMO) was somewhere between the BE and Small Box. Its modeled after the BE-100, and it definitely has that tone. I think for all around gorgeous tube tone from Friedman in this little heads, the PT is a winner. The JJ Jr has a different kind of clean, borrowing from a Ac30, it has the main BE channel, and the Jerry voiced JBE. Its a thicker saturated HBE voiced to his liking, fwiw. I prefer the JJ in general; its a sound I’ve been searching for. Its a tough call between the two (I out the Runt below them but not for anything bad).
Another banger vid, great playing and tones. I would love to hear you demo a Fryette Deliverance if you get the chance. Or a JEL-100. Or any Metropoulos or 3rd Power head. :)
Nice clips. Enjoyed the JJ I had, very close to the JMP 2204 I had at the time, but with more gain, better master volume and effects loop. Have a Phil X now, and just love it. Hit's the bullseye.
Thanks! Yeah, I used the Phil X and the main amp in one of my bands for a few years. Loved that amp. I'm generally a single channel amp guy, so it was right up my alley.
@@ZachWish Single channel is where it's at for me, too. I have the X, an 84 4104, the SLO100 and a few others. The X is close to my 4104, bit more refined, but love what it does. Cheers, rock on!
Great video and playing as usual Zach! Great selection of guitars too. I have a JJjr that scratches that Cantrell itch. My goto Friedman’s right now are the SS100V2 and JEL100. Also my favorite one channel amp is the Skeleton Key. You have to try a Skeleton Key brother! Bet you would make a killer video with that fire breather🔥🔥🤘
Thanks! They're reallllllly similar to my ears. The BE-100 Deluxe has a ton of flexibility with the gain structure switch, frequency, response, and thump controls, so you can pretty much get the JJ-100 sound out of the BE-100 Deluxe, but it's really splitting hairs at that point. I like the Plexi Channel as the clean channel on the BE-100 Deluxe as well. Great for cleans or that driven AC/DC-ish kind of thing. To my ears, the JJ-100 sounds a hair less compressed and "dry" in a good way. Punchy & ballsy. But really, very subtle differences. I would be happy with either. I tend to like simpler amps with less options and really never change channels, so most of the Friedman lineup works well for me. Thanks for checking out the video.
@@ZachWish thanks for the reply! I run a chorus, delay, and reverb in a loop. Had a lot of bad luck with loops…would you recommend like an MXR analog chorus, maybe a mini TC delay and verb for mono, or will it gas out the signal?
Comes with your home in the middle of 100 acres..or optional upgrade..deaf neighbors. That seems to sustain the rift and doesn't seem like its going to give up either..just like rock.Very nice addition to any band.
I just got a Smallbox 50 head to go with that same 4x12.. I love it. But now I'm thinking of saving up and getting this JJ-100. It was between this and the SB.. I guess I'll never get over playing super heavy riffs and having tons of gain at my disposal. This amp is totally different and if I end up getting it then the tonal spectrum will be covered for sure lol.
@ZachWish how does the JJ-100 compare to the DLX for the heavy gain? I’ve had a JJ Jr, played both JJ-100 and DLX but not together, and I’m split between getting one of those two 100w heads. I’m aware of the tweaking differences and specs, but for voicing purposes, what is preferred?
👍 if you did the Layne Staley "oooooooohhhhh" at 0:08
I even looked over my shoulder thinking Scary was on his way 🤟
here I am
Was glad to see the cut that sounded more like the creators lane too.r
I love your videos, someday you should make a cover of Anger Rising
This channel has some of the best tones I have ever listened to.
I love him because he doesn't play on a mix ... Most of us dont record so we dont care... If you like channels like his check lambchopper678... He has some 🔥tones as well
The tone and riffs are sensational
It's true, he's criminally underrated.
For sure, he’s the best on RUclips. No one else comes close.
@@thomasmalz4111 100% agreed!
Man that riff in High Road is always killer
Superunknown was a flawless tone recreation, congrats on absolutely nailing that

Those amps sound great but if you don’t have the hand skills it don’t matter . You brother you got the hands . Awesome video thanks .
Your demos are always incredible!! Thanks for this!!

“The Superunknown” from the first notes. The Cult never sounds right without the big drums production.
Where’s the -Gojira-?
Man, the tones you get are always killer! It's mind blowing, honestly.
We need more Soundgarden!! So glad i got to see them in 2014!!
LOVED hearing Bed of Razors in there. Immaculate taste.
Friedman's make you feel better as well as play and sound better. Dave is an Alchemist Wizard of Amps. Very nice demo.
Channel is basically what's in my head most days.
right when I saw this video I was wondering which song was going to be the intro you did not disappoint!!
Captures the best tones anywhere on RUclips.
Nice inclusion of the long boi Gretsch.
Just bought a JJ100 yesterday. This video put me over the edge on needing one. Great tunes.
Really feel like it’s about time to have a video about the red strat story 😎
The tone from the Gibson Les Paul custom is pure tightness, clarity and perfection.
Great great great!!!! one of the best videos I've ever seen! great sound and great playing!
That first riff always sounds insane on a Friedman/Bogner for some reason, like you can demo every Marshall derivative with it to see if it does "the thing".
great playing as always! Every video I think, "man that Les Paul sounds great."
Opening with AIC and Mastodon riffs, I'm in. Great tones, mate.
Bought this amp 4 months ago. No disappointments. It roars thick and clear. I’ve heard some people say it’s dark sounding. I disagree. Great amp.
She’s got it all. Riff master general type tones 🤘🏻
The amp sounds BROOTAL! I have yet to hear a bad tone from you my man, absolutely KILLER demo once again! \m/
Nice work Zach, you nailed Jerry’s tone! I always discover new bands from the riffs you play which is always a bonus! You introduced me to teenage wrist awhile back. Such a good band. Your demos have seriously become my favourite music related vids to watch! 😊🤘
DAMN! Red Giant is such a killer riff, and Jerry starting to incorporate the baritone is so kickazz!
Zach does it again. Fantastic!
Sounds killer! Dream amp.
Well done again!
Nice playing and I really think you did the amp justice. When you got out the silverburst lp I was expecting some Tool riffs, but it didn't happen. Liked and you got a new subscriber!
thanks for also making me a fan of Gretsch! JEEEZ!

ask him about his 7-string
Brawny, I like that adjective. The "Brawn sound"," sounds great!
Damn,,, thats some serious nice leading gain sound !
sounds killer, and great riff choice as always
sounds amazing Zach
love what you did with the bodom part
Loving the six minutes to midnight at the end!
Thats kick ass. All the way. Perfect tone!!
Superb in everyway.. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love that tone!
Incredible sounding amp. Seriously wow!
Finally my amp yay 🎉 I think I need a Friedman cab for it as well. You make it sound awesome! Also: looking at the settings at the beginning that must have been LOUD 😅
Just MASSIVE!
That was the best playing snd best tone I've seen in any video
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Sounds great, as always! I liked the JJ when I tried one, but I ultimately went with the SS100.
Thanks Jason! Yeah, can't go wrong with either of those two.
That Gretsch looks and sounds AWESOME!
HUUUUUUUUUGE! You rock Zach!

Wow , instant Jerry tone 👍
Dawg tell me why I just had a feeling Superunknown was coming during that little soft jam?? Awesome stuff.
was kinda expecting a G&L Commanche,
but you covered the bases.
good job !
inspiring Tone !
you know a lot of cool songs!! Hope you're writing some great stuff too.
So cool you played mastodon! 🤘🏻
I am listening in my den and my Mark IV excused itself from the room.
Terribly good times. Especially the Soungarden.
high road sounded soooo illll!!!
Ahah loved the Children Of Bodom part! Rip Alexi!
I loved mine when I had it. I was always between the JJ and the Butterslax. Both amazing Friedmans!
Great demo and some awesome tones!! Cheers Zach!!
Thanks so much Ben! Appreciate it.
Sounds perfect🤟
thats road rash guitar themes sounds very nice
Amp is great. Sounds amazing. I know it's expensive but you get what you pay for. Wish I could afford. Hopefully someday 😊😊👍💯🤞🤞🎸🎸

sick videos
Damn that sounds nice!!
Love AIC bro. amp sounds nasty!
I like that amp Alice in chain is my favorite band
The Dirt album even has a dedicated channel… nice!
I knew I shouldn’t have watched this. 👌
sounds fantastic!
which would you own, SS version 2 or the JJ?
Friedman company is out of this world.
