this movie sounds like it was written by white rich people to make fun of white rich people for a white rich audience. which is the worst movie genre by far. i feel your pain.
This sounds like it would have made a good episode of Black Mirror. It wouldn’t have been longer than an hour and absolutely would have contained some fucked up conspiracies. Also it would be set in England.
They could have done a plot that explored the fact that, if only rich people can afford downsizing, and if most rich people chose to do it, after all it increases their fortune, then they would literally be in the hands of working class people who are left to take care of them, so there would be a reversal in society, where poor people would become the giants who have power, and rich people vulnerable.
Alexandre Hamada Possi I love this idea.Or if as he downsized then apocalypse happen and so it seem like his wife did not survived and then this movie could be about him and Vietnamese woman and his friend.Like this could have been good concept as well.
Honestly so blessed you two made this review because every time a friend who hasn’t seen this movie tries to justify it with “But Matt Damon...” I can just reply with a link to this video 😂
I love you guys. The breadth of movie knowledge between the two of you is incredible to me. All the references Avaryl pulls out every episode of some random movie that only 5 people saw and she knows the director down to the post-production editors is funny. Keep up the good work. Y'all are legitmately my favorite movie reviewers. It's so fun!
I don't care what y'all talk about, I could listen to you guys read ingredient descriptions off of soup cans and I would listen for hours. #sugartits #ajawasrobbed
This movie was pretty bad. When Kristen Wiig told him she wasn't coming I was like, "Oh no". Then they just spent so long on that lady and the leg business.... She never got her stupid leg! Fuck this movie!
I thought this movie was supposed to be a comedy from the one trailer I saw and I just ended up walking out of the theater with -$12 and -2.5 hours of my life.
I just felt annoyed how they turned a great premise (the shrinking of people) into a VERY, VERY confused movie that had no clue what it wanted to be. It even finished bizarrely.
This movie should just have been a Black Mirror episode, where he is unhappy in leasureland with the big reveal that Kristen Wiig didn't survive the shrinking for unknown reason X
This was one of the worst films I’ve seen in a long time. I was on the fence about Matt Damon, but now I actively dislike him. Thank you guys for voicing every opinion I thought about this piece of absolute trash garbage
Here’s how I would fix the plot, so it’s the future and everyone lives In a cramped dark dirty city so the main couple decide to downsize. It seems too good to be true but it’s a little eerie. So they go for it. Anyways he gets to the small town and it is just the most fabulous suburban place ever. (Film it in Santa Clarita tbh). Everyone is retired and golfs all day and is entertained constantly a la Wall-E (and robots do all the cleaning to fix THAT issue). But this guy is sad that he hasn’t heard from his wife or been able to find her. So he goes to the office to see what’s happened to her and they’re surprised he’s asking. So he begins to poke around and finds that other people who chose to downsize have gone missing but their significant others don’t seem bothered by it at all. Old friends of his don’t even remember the missing people. So he sneaks into the office and discovers that some people’s procedure is intentionally botched and they’re killed so the company can sell their organs/harvest their bodies/whatever and everyone who survives is brainwashed into forgetting they even exist. And so then the top execs in the building (who haven’t been shrunk) realize there’s been a break in and then find out someone’s brainwashing went arwy (But they don’t know who) and that this person knows what’s been going on. So then the guy goes to his friend who’s sig other also went missing but he can’t unbrainwash him. SWAT team pulls up and captures the main guy and the friend hits his head and realized what happened. He then (possibly off camera to cut run time) goes around telling the truth and everyone realizes what happened. Meanwhile the main guy has a final showdown with the evil CEO who isn’t shrunk. Maybe it’s Ian Mckellan. And then eventually the rest of the tiny people storm the office and battle all the top execs but many loose because they’re tiny. Then the last scene is everyone on Earth has shrunk and the company is still in control.
I agree that Bryan Fuller would do a great job with this concept, he is really great with making science fiction and fantasy blur with reality and really makes you care about the characters. Plus it actually would have been funny. but mostly I just miss pushing daisies :(
My friends and I went in a group of 12 to see this for a birthday, and came out of it feeling as though we had been in a hypnotic trance the entire time. The only respite was when, 20 minutes before the end, the lights in the cinema suddenly came on. None of us have recovered from seeing 'Matt Damon's Mid-Life Crisis', which is the only title for the move that makes sense, if you can apply the concept of sense to a film that so clearly lacks it
Thank you for your videos, they are like therapy. I felt crazy when people kept trying to gaslight me into worshiping LaLaLand. This movie WAS a nightmare AND boring. A better book than a movie. Horrific. Should have stopped watching it. Wasted hours. Thank you for making those hours worth something and making me laugh so hard. I love you, please keep going!
I hated this movie! I rarely go and spend money on movies and I wanted my money back. I kept waiting on something to happen or it to turn dark and it stayed boring and a waste of time until it was over
I was so looking forward to this film. And the best bit was the shrinking process then it just didn't matter. Also loved when the Thai lady managed to wrangle a free holiday.
I feel like Hong Chau deserved an award for being in this shitty, boring movie and acting opposite Matt Damon. She was in a different movie that was maybe good, too!
While I was watching, there was one idea I had. I totally agree with Avaryl that I'm so over the whole white, straight man is on a journey to find himself and will fix everything tropes. Honestly, I would have loved if instead of Matt Damon, how about they cast some up and coming Japanese-American actor in this role? And his backstory could have been something like he grew up in Tokyo where everyone is like one room apartments living on top of each other, so he moved to the US to have more space, but everything is just so expensive if you want a nice house and such, so it likes leads into why he was downsizing because he knows the issues of both being cramped and having to work endlessly to have any sort of space? Plus, it's 2018 and we need more famous actors and actresses who are not just white and black, Asian-American actors and actresses really need more of a footprint in Hollywood.
Hahahaha love rewatching your reviews months later and still get the same laughs. Fun fact. In middle school a boy gave me a burned cd as a proclamation of affection that was just the Here on Earth OST. Still have never seen it haha
Ok, so if they r running around tiny sized in the regular world, how r they not constantly being killed by cats & dogs & other predators. I mean, an owl can see a mouse from like many yards away!!
I love you guys. What a fucking mess of a movie. I swear to go he just didnt want to walk 10 hours to the bunker and thats why he came back out. Fuck you movie.
I feel like Brendan Fraser'sJourney to the Centre of the Earth from 2008 did a better job of making them look small in their surroundings than this movie. I agree, fuck this movie x
Glad to know i'm not alone about Matt Damon relevance card. He's part of movie actors in denial about their popularity. Jason Bourne era is over buddy ! Did not saw the movie don't intend to, but with that review i'm now mad at a movie i did not even saw ! LMAO !
First of all, thank you so much for reviewing horrible movies, because I don't see many movies in theaters (because most of them are shit, let's get real), and now I get to pleasantly think about the possible alternate movies that could have been made in place of this heap of trash. Yay! But second of all: ANDREW! We refer to animals as "females," we refer to human females as girls, women, or ladies! I absolutely know your heart's in the right place, but if a little linguistic awareness can make women feel less subhuman, I think it's worth at least a thought
this was for sure a fuck you movie!!! its a shame because it had so much potential to be great but it was just boring and incoherent,,,, would have KILLED as a black mirror episode tho
The movie is terrible, but I really enjoyed the cheesiness of the NPH/Laura Dern scene. It was just a sales pitch to show the advantages of becoming small. Also, the purpose (?) of Matt Damon's character is that he was trying to be something more, like a doctor, but he is station is life was to a be caretaker (he took care of his mom until she died, the workers at the plant, his wife, the low income people at the end, etc...) Still ... fuck this movie.
Yes. I love the reviews when you hate the movies! There's something so satisfying about watching you rip it to shreds! How would this rank with films like "Steve Jobs" or "Mortdecai" or "A Million Ways to Die in the West" or "La La Land"? Better/worse? I'd love to know which movie you hate the most.
I remember seeing this with my friends in theater's and came out being so confused we were suppose to see the Greatest showman but it was soldout so we had to see this bullshit instead lol
This movie is not bad, I can't believe IMDB 5.7 rating lol, I would have expected 6.5-7.0. I think most people are annoyed by the trailer but I watched it before the movie and I did not find it misleading. What were people expecting? A stupid comedy movie? I think this movie was original at least; it took time with explaining downsizing history and it was interesting. Lol I don't even believe in climate change but this was a good adventure. Maybe acting was cheesy in some places but I liked the pimp character of Christoph Waltz lol. I don't know I am always fascinated with small people idea since watching Gulliver's Travels (original one) as a kid.
If you're gonna pay for Matt Damon, why not just go full Jurassic Park with it? This had potential to be the perfect Matt Damon movie. He could've redeemed his failed life by saving the village from this or that giant insect invasion. Or if you wanted to go a little darker, he could help save them from whatever full sized adult inevitably would try to torture and kill them. I think they really missed an opportunity to make a good movie.
i totally thought that chick was carol kane for a minute as well. wish this had come out yesterday so i could have skipped this movie lol. what a waste of time and money
i know avaryl just said that she's over stories about white men finding themselves (who isn't at this point), but could u guys review 'love, simon' next?
the TRAILER to this movie made me feel sad and uncomfortable and not in a cool/interesting way, so thank you for the review so I don't have to watch this.

Okay so if I had the opportunity to fix the movie it would be very Pleasantville where it's mostly just rich and upper middle white people who choose to do this for the most part because they want to "Make America Great again" ala 1950s segregated suburbia. Poor people ofc cant afford the original transformation and are slaving away to keep this tiny elite society functioning and safe from the global warming disasters that corporate capitalism created. this movie sounds like it was written by white rich people to make fun of white rich people for a white rich audience. which is the worst movie genre by far. i feel your pain.
Spoken like a white rich person watching two white rich people while casually denying being THAT kind of white rich person.
This sounds like it would have made a good episode of Black Mirror. It wouldn’t have been longer than an hour and absolutely would have contained some fucked up conspiracies. Also it would be set in England.
Im crying at those audience sound effects you guys added LOL
Drybones144 didn't see the movie, so based on the review I thought the effects were in the original as well...
Papuriko Pp Me too!
Why didn’t the poor people live in LEGO Batman playsets ?
Mo Batman has suffered enough especially now because of Batffleck
TheKenniaB 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Honestly so blessed you two made this review because every time a friend who hasn’t seen this movie tries to justify it with “But Matt Damon...” I can just reply with a link to this video 😂
Can we get a #FuckYouMovie playlist??
great review but the fact that Avril referenced Pushing Daisies made it even better!
I never knew how much I needed a Zoolander retro review until now
There's true talent in how you screw up a movie with an interesting concept and Kristin Wiig.
"Don't say fuck, it's vulgar" Okay miss Max
a zeljic 😂😂😂😂😂

I don't care what y'all talk about, I could listen to you guys read ingredient descriptions off of soup cans and I would listen for hours. #sugartits #ajawasrobbed
Maria Zaragoza petition to make that a patreon reward
Lauryn Hill Totally! 😂 along with reading the small fine print on ads

I make it a point not to judge movies before I've seen them but those clips you showed made me feel thoroughly grossed out. Kombuyem!
I had high hopes for this movie so I went to see this on my BIRTHDAY!!! Worst birthday ever

PLEASE REVIEW ANNIHILATION!! I need someone to validate my feelings towards it because oh boy
Hahaha "im done with matt damon that is for sure"

This is the worst movie I saw in theaters. I don't think this helped the situation of being on a bad date
Thank you for your videos, they are like therapy. I felt crazy when people kept trying to gaslight me into worshiping LaLaLand. This movie WAS a nightmare AND boring. A better book than a movie. Thanks for watching bad movies for us! There is nothing I love more.
shoutout to Pushing Daisies!
Why not a random lottery and it’s some poor POC family who get picked
'A boring nightmare"
LOL
This movie is the most pretentious piece of s**t I ever watched. It has no focus at all and its themes aren’t deep or subtle at all.
I hated this movie! I rarely go and spend money on movies and I wanted my money back. I kept waiting on something to happen or it to turn dark and it stayed boring and a waste of time until it was over

Was clamoring for a Zoolander reference! Thank god I got it in the end. Yaass to the Retro Review.

DarkMask6667 super want this movie.
At least the trailer reignited my interest in the Talking Heads. Budget well spent.
I was waiting for the butterfly gif at the end of the video. Yes!!
Hahahaha love rewatching your reviews months later and still get the same laughs. Fun fact. In middle school a boy gave me a burned cd as a proclamation of affection that was just the Here on Earth OST. Still have never seen it haha
omg matt damon looks like a whole mess in this movie
Ok, so if they r running around tiny sized in the regular world, how r they not constantly being killed by cats & dogs & other predators. I mean, an owl can see a mouse from like many yards away!!
This might be the ultimate movie fix. After 96 minutes, Matt Damon is snatched up by an owl. The end.
LOL!
I love you guys. What a fucking mess of a movie. I swear to go he just didnt want to walk 10 hours to the bunker and thats why he came back out. Fuck you movie.
This would have been a better idea acted out in a TV series.
Please retro review Pretty Woman!
I feel like Brendan Fraser'sJourney to the Centre of the Earth from 2008 did a better job of making them look small in their surroundings than this movie. I agree, fuck this movie x

And why would they deliver Absolut Vodka from the US to Norway when Absolut Vodka is made in Sweden, the neighboring country to Norway!
I remember seeing this with my friends in theater's and came out being so confused we were suppose to see the Greatest showman but it was soldout so we had to see this bullshit instead lol
Retro review of serial mom plz?
I’m tired of seeing extras being shaved in movies. It makes me immediately uncomfortable and I don’t need that in my life
Holy fuck I was *this* close to seeing this movie a few weeks ago! Y’all savin lives out here!
Kristin Wiig was also in Mother! for like 4 minutes....not her fault, of course, but Mother was the worst movie I've seen in forever.
This movie is not bad, I can't believe IMDB 5.7 rating lol, I would have expected 6.5-7.0. have you guys ever seen “Outbreak”? If so, retro review? love that movie
Ok this film was terrible but that mini explosion near the end made my cry with laughter. Don't know if it was cos I waited two hours for a joke...
I kept expecting a literal "Eat the Rich" moment or a Pleasantville vibe to happen but ofc not.
YES please review both zoolander movies ASAP!!
If you're gonna pay for Matt Damon, why not just go full Jurassic Park with it? This had potential to be the perfect Matt Damon movie. I vote that Avaryl gets to pic the next movie.
i totally thought that chick was carol kane for a minute as well. wish this had come out yesterday so i could have skipped this movie lol. what a waste of time and money
I can’t wait for y’all to rip into A Wrinkle In Time. It’s so, so much and so, so bad.
It was on my radar but when it was at the cinema I wasn’t in the mood for it so yay for not seeing it
This movie was about as clever as Kimora Blac
Daniel Elder don't be so hard about Kimora Blac
I kinda wanna see it now to see how bad it is lol
i know avaryl just said that she's over stories about white men finding themselves (who isn't at this point), but could u guys review 'love, simon' next?
That movie was fan-testicles!
the TRAILER to this movie made me feel sad and uncomfortable and not in a cool/interesting way, so thank you for the review so I don't have to watch this.
I feel annoyed watching this just because I never thought I’d have to relive this horror
Subscribed as soon as you mentioned pushing daisies cause oh my lord I love that show, what are the chances of getting a TVBitches special hehehe
Just watched this movie a few hours ago. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hated it lol. I zoned out after the tripping scene for a few minutes so I spent the rest of the movie wondering wtf is going on. I gave up trying to understand the plot after a while. It sucks because it started out really interesting and then everything went downhill.
What I learned from this review, if anyone else had this premise it would've been better then what we got. Like so many possibilities but they decided to make it boring and abnoxious af.
have not seen and will not see this movie, but boy was listening to you two tear this shithole movie down a blast. from what i could tell there wasn't even a point to the blatant misogyny and racism. it was just there. how can movies still do that i don't...huh? there also didn't seem to be a point in general. huh? who funded this shit lol
Recorded horizontally😀👍
A Dredd shout out on Moviebitches...
So when are y'all going to review black panther?
YAS! Queens! This movie was SO stupid!
Please review the master of disguise 🤰🏽💛🧡💕💜
Theo Porter yes!
I saw that movie at the dollar cinema and still wanted my money back.
of course I love you no matter what you are reviewing my sweets, I just wish you would review Drag Race earlier in the week. I would watch them over and over. Once I see it and then the next show airs I am less apt to rewatch, just saying. Love you
Yes to everything you guys said. I watched it and it was trash. You guys rock! 😙
For once, it's a McMansion that's a Happy Meal toy
SO glad I didnt see this! Such a great premise tho! :(
Okay so if I had the opportunity to fix the movie it would be very Pleasantville where it's mostly just rich and upper middle white people who choose to do this for the most part because they want to "Make America Great again" ala 1950s segregated suburbia. Poor people ofc cant afford the original transformation and are slaving away to keep this tiny elite society functioning and safe from the global warming disasters that corporate capitalism created. Eventually an anti-hero cult realizes that they can "dissapear" certain rich tiny people, redistribute their wealth to poorer people, and help solve global hunger with handfuls of deep fried tiny billionaires all at once. Dark but at least interesting. Also it would be 100 minutes long.
The WD-40 thing floored me
This entire review was hilarious. I was interested in seeing this film. Now? Even more so.
I just watched this movie and came here right after... I found myself fast forwarding multiple times at around 1:45 - the last half hour just spirals into pure cringe. The rest of the movie is just a very boring commentary on Class conflict. I was hoping for a dark comedy set in that mini town, perhaps with external threats or something? ugh, what a waste of an afternoon....
omg so glad I wasnt the only one who had to endure this nonsense lol, they just added it to Netflix so expect a boost in views!!
This movie could have been good.If they had to have direction and this movie could be good.
Wait so were those canned laughs and boos actually in the movie???? Jesus christ that's obnoxious as fuck
No we added them... because it seemed like it fit
I couldn't agree more. This was the worst movie I have ever seen!
You guys are fucking funny
