Snakes can't regulate their body temperature like we can, so when it slithered onto the hot road it heated up and basically has a heat stroke. That's why there are so many dead snakes on the road in Florida, a lot of black raicers too.

To clarify what happened here, since Black Racers live in such hot climates and are only active in the day and since snakes require outside heat to thermoregulate its body temp, when it hits the concrete that has been heated so hot by the sun the snakes body temp rises extremely quickly causing it to "seize" and die. This happens quite often here in florida when snakes try to cross the street.
This makes my heart aid. I found this video while trying to search up why the hell this baby snake we found yesterday was acting so strange. It was doing the exact same thing and now knowing it was having a seizure makes me so sad 😭😭😭 I knew I should’ve just kept it
As a reptile lover, his thrashing has me heart broken :'( snakes have a hard time cooling themselves down if they get too hot, and can get confused. I'm sure the hot pavement was too much for him, and even if it was not the cause, seizures are not a good thing for a snake to have, as they can easily bite themselves during one. Realizing that my dog wasn't going to be frightened off, the racer then proceeded to play dead! I work on residential buildings I see them nearly everyday. Never saw that before.
A dog "nip" on a snake is more often than not a slow and painful death. So your dog bullied and killed a snake after it tried to defend itself is what you said.

And when stuff like this happens people fail to realize that their "fur baby" is actually a killing machine by instinct and try to sugarcoat the situation to make their pet sound innocent, like in this situation. Saying that your dog "nipped" a snake is trying to suggest that it was a light, innocent bite, which it was most likely not, especially for an animal as fragile. It's sugarcoating an unnatural interaction between species that shouldn't meet each other without the intervention of humans, which ended badly for vulnerable wildlife. Nature might be brutal, but you can't change the fact that your domesticated pet killed wildlife that is vulnerable because of human intervention, and pets are part of this human intervention, not nature itself.
@@johnbrooker6134 So to answer your question, yes, I would totally try to save a frog, or any other wild animal, from the jaws of a dog or cat, because pets have been immensely damaging to the ecosystem, disrupting the natural balance. If it was a wild animal hunting another wild animal, then I would not intervene, as that is an truly natural interaction and both animals are fighting for their lives (the prey fighting to escape, and the predator fighting for food to survive another day). Pets have no reason whatsoever to kill wildlife, they're well fed and should be kept indoors, supervised while outside, and trained to control their prey drive.
He was injured somehow. He has a "bubble" near his cloaca that you can see at 0:24, and if you watch a few seconds more, there is damage to his body up to almost a foot before that section. It does look like he was run over previously or something damaged him and it is almost the width of a tire...

This is awful, I live in a house with 7 snakes... I was looking up a video of snakes having seizures and my friend sent me this saying “I would t watch it the comments will annoy you” I needed I video to tell me what a snake seizure looks like because I thought 1 of my snakes had one, but who ever said awful stuff about this poor innocent snake is foul. It will, however, take care of mice from making a home in your house. No snake wants to harm you, even the venomous type. They usually give you plenty of warning to get away from them like the rattle sound from a rattlesnake. Snakes will attack you if you threaten them. A black racer may bite you in defense but again, it has no venom so it can't kill you.

ok, so 2 things from someone who knows snakes. First, look at the knot near the vent, on his tail. It can be clearly seen between :20-:25 seconds in. It appears to be a severe intestinal blockage, which means this wasn't a seizure. The snake was just writhing in pain. Second thing, to those wondering why the person filming didn't call a vet, well this is also a 2 parter. 1: It's a wild animal, this is nature, not someone's pet. these things happen all the time, it keeps the population in check. 2: By the time the snake was even spotted, it was too late. I, and all fellow snake keepers, must watch our pets for things like this, because it will bring about a sudden and unexpected death in a snake. I could go on about this kind of thing, but i'll leave it at that.
Excellent observation....and quite likely....although I have seen snakes die in paroxysm from excessive heat, especially on hot roads....although the person posting this said it did not die from heat, the sun alone is enough unless it finds shelter, much less a hot pavement.... Black racers like this are from my native woodlands, and getting caught in the sun long enough is often a sure death sentence....and this snake may have reached it's last moments of tolerance...

He replied he was sure it had sustained some kind of injury, probably a car running over it. He said he had observed that very same behavior many times ... My snake just did something similar (way less dramatic). Female Dekay, gave birth this morning, had a seizure after I startled it lasting approximately 5 minutes. She returned to normal behavior after appearing to be suffering a horrible death/seize. I assumed at first that I gave her unsanitary water poisoned with bleach. I later also heard this has to do with it being too hot and that applying water stops the seizure. I also was told snakes do this in order to 'appear dead', though that makes no sense to me.. seems a bird would come after it.

@@Breaker197 lol my feelings have nothing todo with it. Some people with epilepsy have to wear helmets to stop them bashing their heads as this is common injury for people with even mild epilepsy.
They don't just maybe hit their heads they do exactly what the snake is doing. I doubt you have any real sense of how seizures can affect humans.

ok, so 2 things from someone who knows snakes. First, look at the knot near the vent, on his tail. It can be clearly seen between :20-:25 seconds in. It appears to be a severe intestinal blockage, which means this wasn't a seizure. The snake was just writhing in pain. Second thing, to those wondering why the person filming didn't call a vet, well this is also a 2 parter. 1: It's a wild animal, this is nature, not someone's pet. these things happen all the time, it keeps the population in check. 2: By the time the snake was even spotted, it was too late. I, and all fellow snake keepers, must watch our pets for things like this, because it will bring about a sudden and unexpected death in a snake. I could go on about this kind of thing, but i'll leave it at that.
Excellent observation....and quite likely....although I have seen snakes die in paroxysm from excessive heat, especially on hot roads....although the person posting this said it did not die from heat, the sun alone is enough unless it finds shelter, much less a hot pavement.... Black racers like this are from my native woodlands, and getting caught in the sun long enough is often a sure death sentence....and this snake may have reached it's last moments of tolerance...

when snakes are severely injured or suddenly die, they convulse like this. racers and rat snakes and the like living in hot urban climates often overheat on hot pavement anf die very quickly, like this one here. hurts my heart to watch because i love snakes, and it just looks so brutal for the poor baby.

My snake just did something similar (way less dramatic).
Female Dekay, gave birth this morning, had a seizure after I startled it lasting approximately 5 minutes. She returned to normal behavior after appearing to be suffering a horrible death/seize. I assumed at first that I gave her unsanitary water poisoned with bleach. I later also heard this has to do with it being too hot and that applying water stops the seizure.
I also was told snakes do this in order to 'appear dead', though that makes no sense to me.. seems a bird would come after it.
I feel more depressed after seeing this video
