AngiShy The scream is the beginning of the seizure, where the air is forced out of the lungs... Poor baby squirrel. It would be best to keep it as a pet now and keep it safe...
Julia Gietema...Hi Miss Julie, somewhere down the line of comments on this video, she did mention that the baby survived, but had permanent brain damage so he was unreleasable. I think this woman is awesome because she provided a loving, caring environment that was comfy for the lil' man to safely live out his days! Good people!
No one hurt the baby. The baby fell out of a 50 foot tall palm tree and landed on his head on cement. He has a head injury. The swelling causes the seizures.
I went thru this same situation with the 2nd squirrel I rehabbed when he fell (along with his nest and siblings) onto our roof during a hurricane last breeding season and it was so horrible to watch! He also bumped his head and had major swelling going on at the time on that noggin of his. The seizures came in frequent waves of 2-5 minutes for hours and then down to maybe 1 or 2/hour. The only thing I could do to support the little guy as he was going thru this hell was exactly what the nice woman in this video clip did for that poor baby...rub his back while keeping him in a safe place as he went thru it, constantly talking to him as calmly as possible so he could try to focus his way back to me. It went on for 18 hours, the last one hitting him at that 18th hour, and then...praise the powers that be..the swelling went down by the end of that 1st day and the seizures ceased altogether. It has been a full year later, he is still alive and kickin' strong! I will say to anyone who has the heart to go thru this kind of ordeal to help mother nature out...obviously all the demented buttheads who watched this video just to get a laugh out of it, taking it upon themselves to stop hitting their bongs long enough to be jack-holes writing very ignorant, unwanted and unnecessary comments below are NOT included (for those folks...u know who you are...please don't worry about dropping your useless comments on good folks like this...allow us adults to have our time on RUclips as well to post the videos that we feel are actually important and informative and who knows? will probably do the world some good...unlike those posted by folks, like yourselves, that lack any value -aside from lame pranks and fart jokes, I know that kinda stuff is important to your kind- and are just so plain stupid that they make me want to start smoking weed just to numb the thought of slackers, like you, simply being nothing more than a waste of space and time, annoying people, like myself, who actually value the woman who took the time and posted something like this, as terrible as it is, for other rehabbers and good samaritans alike to see...next time, while trolling thru here, please just stick to your silly, mindless RUclips videos and keep your comments limited to that stuff...the stuff you obviously know best)...anyway, for all the others who watched this video and did NOT find it amusing: if u have saved a squirrel and are going thru a similar situation, keep in mind that even if your little guy or gal is lucky enough to pull thru and survive these seizures, he or she may have lasting brain damage that could still make that squirrel unable to safely return to the wild. We had planned to release Love Monkey this past spring, but after really observing him outside going up his first tree on his own, we realized that his depth perception was off. He will never be able to correctly gage the distance he'd need to jump to get from branch to branch, and would end up falling to his death if we had decided to release him to live life up in the trees with the other squirrel-folk. So, he is now a permanent member of our family and we are so blessed to have him with us! I don't care what anyone else thinks...squirrels are AMAZING creatures and make great companions for critter-loving peeps like myself! I love them! Thanks for your video of this. It must have been hard to record and post such a traumatic thing, but I'm sure it will help someone out there who is going thru a similar situation, not knowing what's going on or what to do about it! God bless ya!

found a baby squirrel around 6-7 weeks having a seizure in the middle of the road from what appeared to be a fall, head injury. i gave him formula for the following days and he seemed to make a recovery, 5 days later he had a major seizure which went on for hours. when it was over he had passed, i feel terrible. i thought giving him formula was the right thing but i didn’t realize the seizure would come back or that it even was a seizure when i found him

We just rescued our second squirrel. The first one is now two yes old Our little guy, Theo, had a seizure last week. We think he’s a couple months old. We found our other one right after birth so he was an infant. Anyway, I’m scared he will have another We are ensuring his diet contains plenty of calcium We also think he can’t see too well(I know they are blind when born) But our Charlie was def able to see by this age. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
My baby orphaned mouse looks like he/shes having seizures while he/she drinks formula. I'm not sure if it's a seizure, he/she opens her mouth wide and bends his/her back backwards a lot and then he/she cant move. What should I do? It is about 7-9 days old

My baby squirrel has seizures sometimes !!!! It breaks my heart. My mother found this little thing. Tried to get the mom to come back for 3-4 days by feeding the squirrels by the baby in the box... and not one squirrel took the little one in. So I took him to my house since my mom can’t care for him (she’s scared he’s gona bite lol🙄) and I am amazing with animals and plants. When he had the first episode, I knew exactly what was happening, and I’m not motherly AT ALL. 😩
I have this same issue right now with my baby. It is not looking so good. We cannot find a rehabilitating person anywhere and the vets will put him down. :( it's so breaking my heart
+Lindsay Booze So sorry to hear that. Thanks for trying to save him. I found that teeny ice packs on the swollen part of the head helps reduce swelling and seizures quite a bit.
I'm waiting on a wildlife rehab place to call me back. I had 3 babies fall out of a tree at sunset. A hawk almost beat me to the last one before I could get it picked up. One passed very quickly must have landed directly on his head. #2 made it through the night and #3 had swelling by his cheek and is now having seizures. I'm not sure what to do other than keep him warm. I was told Mom won't come back due to his injuries he's likely abandoned. It's so sad. I hope the rescue calls me soon. They're supposed to be having their squirrel person call me.
Hello, Dear Ma'am i need urgent help as my 4 month old baby squirrel has not been eating for 4 consecutive days. I think she is also having problems in drinking water. When she drinks water it seems she is getting hiccups. I think she has fever. Her Urine was yellow. Called so many vets but they said they only deal with Cats, Dogs, rabbits and some birds. I am unable to find any vet in my area for squirrel. Please help. A vet advised me to give her a pill to reduce fever and other. Can i give her Sweets? she likes them. Please tell me some treatment. Thanks
Squirrel's urine looks slightly orange, not yellow. A fever generally could mean infection. Sounds like a vet is recommending antibiotics. If that is the case, we use baytril, clavamox or amoxycillin with squirrels using cat dosage based on weight. I have no idea what is wrong with your squirrel as I haven't seen it. Try to find a vet that treats pet rats and bunnies. They can treat squirrels.
+Bella Black It's always possible on some level the baby might be conscious of certain things. Their moms lick the sides of their faces to groom them. It seems to comfort them. When we have wild babies come in we give them love and nurturing similar to what mom would do. As soon as they don't need our help to eat, drink, clean themselves we are more hands off so they can be wild. When they are juvies and go to the outside enclosures, we never touch them again. They get nice and wild then we release them.
Hi there Mary! Ive rescued a baby squirrel, he was fine for two months but just yesterday i think he has some kind of seizure. He looked all tense and he was screaming a little bit, it went on for a little less than 1 minute. Is there anything i can do to help him calm down? He was scarred and a little agressive after the seizure (he's never been agressive before) is it normal? Is he agressive towards me because he thinks i inflicted the pain to him? What can i do to make him more comfortable around me afterwards?
It's possible he could have Metabolic Bone Disease. It can be reversed if treated early. There's a section on MBD in our squirrel website which RUclips won't let me post.
Mary Cummins he was abandoned fairly early in his childhood and its possible he hasnt had the proper diet. What about the agressivity? He seems super distant and scared now but he's always been cudly and not frightened at all. What is the name of the website i should chek out?

I had a MASSIVE fox squirrel make this sound, and it was very alarming. I feed birds, but often squirrels will become territorial over my bird feeders and run all the birds off and utterly destroy my feeders and potted plants. They also go into my songbird roosts and kill the birds. Saw one big fat mama squirrel sitting out in the middle of the table and stuffing her face, lunging at any bird that tried to land and get some food. I wanted to get some nice videos of the goldfinches, so I got my air rifle and shot the huge ass squirrel in the neck. The thing flew 3 feet up into the air and then crashed back down onto the table with an incredible "THUD". Disoriented, it scrambled back and forth, trying to get away from the "threat". I didn't want her to run off and go dying in my neighbor's yard or something, so I grabbed her by the tail which prompted her to make this "SQUEEE SQUEEEEE SQUEEEEEEE" noise. I was like WTF? Even though I was holding her by the tail, she kept on trying to whip around and bite me. To avoid a nasty bite from the varmint I had to wind up and smash her head into the pavement a couple times. I swear to god this squirrel was as big as a smallish house cat. They always do some crazy spazz shit when I kill them and it's sort of fascinating. These squirrels are ones people have been feeding by hand at the park which causes them to lose their fear of humans (and even to associate humans with food), have a huge population boom, and then cross from the park to the properties of neighbors nearby. They wreak absolute havoc on bird feeders and birds alike, and they damage houses and cause electrical fires. I've killed upwards of 40 of these suckers so far. They're really terrible to have around. I've had these nasty things lunge, chatter their teeth, and try to bite me for simply trying to scare them off whilst they're destroying my property. Every time I see one in my yard, it's about 5 seconds from dead. Hate these horrible vermin.
