Why so fast? Because it is technically easy? It is, but it is also wonderful music and the tempi spoiled the performance.

The tempos were taken from the recording of Jean Pierre Rampal and Julius Baker. Music, in my opinion, is not to be put in categories of technically easy or hard, rather the level of all music should set to the standard of expression, and as such what a piece can be should be held to that standard. I am sorry that the tempos throughout the piece spoiled the performance for you and I suggest that in the future you view live music (which this is a recording of) in a different light!

Alexander my friend, believe me I did not mean to offend you. As one who first played this duet in a conservatory student recital in 1956, I feel that I have lived with this work long enough to have a pretty fair understanding of it as well the flute which I still toot publically at the energetic age of 82.Bless you in your chosen field.Robert Hawkins
