Yeah, going from the S10+ Ceramic to the S23 Ultra. There's not another phone on the planet which can compete with this phone in each and every aspect. They might beat it in one thing here or there, but not the entire package. Great move by Samsung.
Great video, I'm upgrading from a Z Flip (2020) to the S23 Ultra. While I did like the flip design. It had its issues. I was able to get a good trade-in value and copped the S23!

The 23 has been such a delight to use I'm glad I held out for it. I think the iPhone is great but I'm not big into iOS and I only use Mac's in the office. I'm completely satisfied with this new phone. Great video!
I can't wait to switch back, especially because of how well everything is integrated on Apple's side. The hardware is great, but that's not enough for me anymore.
I started out as an Android fanboy, but I started feeling like the Android top end phones were overrated. Battery was half gone by noon for one, so I purchased an iPhone to try and haven't looked back.
Think it’s always good to try different brands, whichever way you switched, I’m glad you found something that works for you. I’ve had iPhones since the first one and recently I’ve been more impressed by the improvements made by Android phones. The iPhone has probably peaked on the 13 release and for me Apple is “coasting” right now. Maybe the 15 will change how I see it, who knows 😊
I have also been holding out for the Samsung flagship series since the S20. Hoping to buy the 23 Ultra soon, but want to wait for the Mi 13 Ultra to come out for comparison.
Super video made me switch from iPhone 12 Pro Max to S23U. I only miss the twitter notifications on iPhone. Samsung has an issue with Twitter notifications, where popup and lockscreen notifications do not appear. It seems like an issue on One UI 5.1
I’m going in the opposite direction I’ve been using a galaxy phone for 5 years and now I’m changing to the iPhone 14 Pro. I love android and Samsung but I love to try new stuff as well. Never had used an iPhone with Face ID before, and I can tell you it’s a game changer feature to me now. It’s a pity no Android phone has this feature whatsoever it’s way more convenient. I had the S22 ultra and was debating whether to upgrade to the S23 ultra, after a couple of weeks i pulled the trigger and got the s23 ultra, im so glad i made the move. I love this phone and you can tell the big difference from the s23 and the s22 ultra.
I had Samsung s21 ultra for 18 months and before that Samsung Note 20 ultra. I noted that after 12 months the performance of both phones dipped considerably. I used iPhone 11 Pro Max for 2 years and it never stuttered , however now IPhone 14pro max video recording has severe issues. Shall I move to Samsung S23 ultra??
Honestly, I had those issues too even with the S22 Ultra. Zero issues on the S23 Ultra so far. In Pro modes you may experience a delay or if you turn off stabilisation, 8K can be iffy but other than that I honeslty think Samsung smashed it with this one
Well i think the problem has to be one ui having more and more features. I have a note 10+ and throughout the years it became slower and the battery life took a hit. However I rooted it to lineage os. That is a night and day difference : the performance were as good as when the phone was brand new and even faster than my ip13pro. I can say the same for battery life.
Clean the Cache in recovery. Look it up. My S21 Ultra is is super zippy. All my phones have always worked smoothly mainly because I CCR. It will save you from buying a new phone.
Damn, apple needs some sort of witchcraft to battle the s23 ultra this year. Dunno why the videos from iPhones look like they have some sort of warmer filter which makes the images look more dull
They do indeed! I like it in some situations, and it's easy enough to change to a cooler tone but it really surprised me how good the S23 Ultra is for video now
The speaker test would have to be done again, they should both be facing the same way. Iphone bottom firing speaker was facing towards the camera lens which enhances the sound [like when you cuff your phone in your hands and the audio sounds better and much more loud]. S23U bottom firing speaker was facing the other way [Soundwaves had nothing in close proximity to bounce off of to enhance the sound].
The microphone (it’s a professional Seinheiser MKH-050) where the sound was recorded from, was pointed at the middle of the phones. Both phones were static so really no difference. You can just about see the mic on the left hand side of the frame, at 16:47 with blue cables. So the camera was moving (I do that so it’s less boring with a bit of movement) but the mic and the phones were not moving. Hope that makes sense 👊🏼
It is on. I know they come turned off by default. Whilst it improves it, the 14 Pro Max sounds better. At ull volumen the iPhone actually distorts everything, but at about 80% volume it is very clean and has a better "presence" if you know what I mean
Yes, I had it on… I’ve managed to get it to sound a bit better by using the EQ settings but I gotta say, the iPhone does still sound better. The only time the iPhone doesn’t sound better is at 100% volume. The distortion in the iPhone is horrendous past 80-90% volume. But up to that leve it sounds great on music apps and content too. Anyway, for me it doesn’t matter too much as I’m getting rid of it. I’m downgrading it to a 13 Mini just to synch with my watch and be my second phone for apple things.

Just looking at reviews while I watch this on my s23U. Just technically "upgraded" from a p Pixel 6 Pro, though I desperately miss the blur free photos and the Google smarts.
I'm mad that reviews didn't mention the scrolling issues on the pixel 7 pro. Got the s23 ultra and it's the best phone I used so far. I go back and forth between a iphone 14 pro max. When I got the s23 ultra I haven't when back yet.

Because Apple doesn't allow them to say shit. That's why I don't trust these RUclipsrs the Iphone camera sucks I dont know what's natural about it. The lens flare always ruins both my pics and videos. (But they all seem to love it)
Thank you very much!! Yes, the standard colour on the iPhone is a lot warmer now. You can change it to a cooler tone but then things look a bit washed out. It's still excellent for photos and videos but I do think Samsung have caughgt up if not passed Apple in some camera options
Did you have Dolby Atmos on..? It's not on by default..And I changed the audio EQ setting from Normal to Jazz or Rock, and now it sounds so good and I think on a par with Apple 14 PRO Max..
Yes, Dolby Atmos was on. But I didn't change the EQ settings at all, so maybe that's what I need to do. The iPhone is honestly better though, I am not sure the EQ will work but will definitely give it a go as I use the phone without headphones a lot. I tried with a few different things too like watching movies on Disney, Netflix and Prime. Thank you!
I have both a 14 PM and a S23U. I love both for different reasons but the iphone remains my main device for a few reasons. iMessage, better app availability/updates/support/quality, and overall OS stability.
I haven't been impressed by a Smartphone since the Samsung Galaxy S8. From then on, I've felt that improvements are rather small and incremental. I went Backberry Pearl, Blacberry Bold, Samsung Galaxy (Original), Google Nexus, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy S8, S10+, S21 Ultra, and now S23 Ultra. From the S8 on, it's been quite incremental. Prior to this, each new generation was completely different from the one before it. Meaning massive changes. S23 Ultra is a great device, but I haven't had that impressed feeling in a long time.
I think it’s funny that iPhone doesn’t have Astro mode but it still holds up pretty well using the night mode. The Samsung S23 Ultras Astro mode isn’t really impressive to me. I still prefer Pixel’s Astro mode. I know for sure that when Apple drops Astro mode, it’ll be insane. Hopefully that will be this year because this year Apple will introduce a “state of the art” sensor for iPhone Pro

You know what's funny as I haven't heard really anybody say anything bad about the s23 ultra speakers they say they're the best speakers so far even over the 14 pro Max so I don't know
Yes, they behjave funny sometimes when watching content, but that's mostly because I've been holding the phone and covering one of the speaker cutouts. Overall I did think the iPhone was better sounding, but at full volume the iPhone speaker gets really distorted, so yes, it;s louder on the iPhone but I'd rather have a slightly lower sound, but still clear like the S23 Ultra.
The monkey Island lol that’s hilarious . I have the iPhone 14pro max and the Zfold 4 . Both are great devices but I definitely gravitate more toward the samsung for the multitasking and it’s so much fun too use .

No multimedia volume control, no split screen mode, and you have to deal with a lot of thermal throttling if you do anything intensive for an extended period of time. I can't even watch RUclips while charging my Iphone 12 without it dimming the screen a lot. Never had this problem on my old Oneplus 3T. Definitely want to try a Samsung for the first time, wether it's the ultra or a he flip, both look great
Fr, apple fanboys cry that iphones have better performance after looking at the benchmarks. But the truth is, iPhones suck at running heavy apps. Watch the comparison by in depth tech reviews. The iPhone 14 pro Max, a 1500$ phones performs worse under heavy load when compared to the 700$ Google pixel 7 pro! And those apple fanboys started crying that iphones have less cores.

Yes, hope Exynos never comes back! And yes, I was already daily driving the Fold, so now the iPhone is literally only syncing with my Watch. Don't really "need" the Apple Watch Ultra but I really like it. If I could find a way of not using the iPhone for the watch, I could sell it for good...
Of course the satellite feature of the iPhone only works for Special People - for example, it won't work here in NZ. Likewise, the Pixel is not sold in NZ so that is no option at all. I have a 13PM and I am considering the Fold 5 but would hate to lose my Apple Watch and you cannot (annoyingly) run the watch via OSX on your MBP for some reason. However, my TV is Samsung, my connected fridge is Samsung and my washing machine/dryer are also Samsung. Only my MBP and AW are Apple. So I am unsure which universe to live in with my phone! You did not really explain why I could easily switch though. It would perhaps be useful to do a video on HOW you switch easily.
I’m watching this with a iPhone 13 max and I’m tired of this damn phone. Just the thought of moving the phone back and forth for face time to work is like dang. I speak through AirPod Max headphones and damn Siri still can’t get me right like Google does. It’s just sad. You can’t schedule text messages on iPhone something I used to use all the time when I had my Samsung. I’ll just stop right there man 😢.

Don't be afraid. For me, Android is life! I was a long time iOS user and switched years ago, and no regrets so far. I tried using an iPhone again months ago, specifically the iPhone13 Pro Max and honestly it didn't work. The amount of things you lose is too much compared to what you gain using an S23 Ultra. And today, the Galaxy S line is at its best. I'd say it's the best time to migrate from an iPhone to Android.
@Benjamin Jagun I'm sorry, the fact that you don't know doesn't mean that it is that way. I know several colleagues who "work" as influencers, and some of them migrated to S23 because of multi-tasking, which doesn't exist (sic) until today on iOS. They can edit a video while downloading something, or edit appointments in their calendar. And as some videos have already proven, the 14 Pro Max suffers from overheating, losing performance over time. I have the money to buy the latest iPhone model, without depending on any sponsorships, but the things I lose with iOS is too big compared to what I gain. I need to record my calls and no iOS allows it. As well as writing down and signing documents, where SPen makes all the difference. But, I understand that by custom, or just by status, some prefer iPhone.

It is always the case on a new cycle of phones, this time 2023, that the first one out, usually Samsung, gets loads of hype. Of course, all 2023 phones will get the same chip, better cameras and some even new designs, and in six months times, the excitement for the S23U will just be noise. There is no doubt that as a new year rises then we expect a new and shiny phone and the S23U fills the space. Personally, I have been unimpressed, the cameras look like a work in progress and the better battery and performance will be matched by ten or more flagships in due course. I do not use the s-pen and shooting the moon is not my thing, so the S23U at £1400 is maybe too expensive for what I use; as I remember the top Samsung being £800, and that was not so long ago. Is it better than the iPhone 15 Pro Max (Ultra), well we await Apple's 2023 try, but I suspect that switching back to the iPhone will never be easier for those in the ecosystem, and those that live with Android then lots of great choices. My favs are likely the VIVO X90 Pro+, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the OPPO Find X6 Pro, the Magic 5 Pro, the Fold5, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, OnePlus Fold, Huawei P60 Pro...
How would them dropping the refresh rate to conserve battery be considered cheating? I thought the whole point of praising Apple for their efficient battery performance was based on the software refinements, and not the battery capacity?!? I bought the Samsung 20 ULTRA three years ago and I am planning on buying the next new iPhone this year. I really enjoyed my Samsung the first 2 years but it feels like Samsung phones age very poorly compared to an iPhone.

Have iphone 14 pro max, bought s 23 ultra as everyone on RUclips was praising this phone saying this is the best phone!. Is it bad? No? Is this an iPhone killer? No. Is it the best phone? No. Phone is quick and power mighty wise but inconsistent. Have a feeling all those youtubers must be paid to say only good things about samsung and people below those videos are blind samsung followers. Have both phones in my hand since 14 days IP 14 pro max and S 23 ultra so can see differences in live case scenarios. Ok, so speedy and smooth s23 ultra feeling. Hmm not always as said it is inco nsistent. Make messenger video call and minimise messenger so you can only see camera, meanwhile run and close apps like browser, FB etc - animations stutter, no longer smooth. Photos? Camera killer? It is a joke. This phone cannot make decent photo in the kitchen with lights on, what you can see easily if you make a pic of person and see their hands for example. Samsung either blures hands or tries to sharpen some part of the picture. In same scenario iphone makes more natural pictures. Night photos? Zoom? It is another joke. Maybe if you do static pic from tripod but in life case scenario you want do normal photo at night is if quite bad when iphone makes better pics out of the pocket without tweeking anything. Operating system has 62GB! And my android account is fresh new without any apps I created fresh account. This is unacceptable. Keyboard feels like there is a small delay and more often I make mistakes on s 23 ultra especially on RUclips comments it feels like response time is really bad. That's the things you will notice on daily basis and not like on youtube channels showing only how pic are great 😅 This is not a bad phone but optimization is nowhere near to iphone even if samsung has powerfull specs. Worth to mention is security. How is this possible that I go to samsung menu and go to themes and go to download one. Me thinking, OK this is inside the phone Samsung must have power over this and I will connect to Samsung server to safe fully download new theme. I was surprised when I wanted to download one and below rating and people comments were saying it is a virus! How samsung can let this crap on their own inside system? I am not talking about Google store but actual samsung menu! It is scarry! To add, I am using s23 ultra on daily basis now just to see how it goes not to only follow those biased youtube videos. It happened already few times I was able to crash/freeze messenger chat window. I could not write, do any action even could not use gesture bottom bar to exit! Had to reboot. If that happens once, OK maybe happend but it happens around 5 tines now in two weeks. Similar thing happening inside FB app. It can freeze inside the post or market place, you can still navigate inside this post but cannot go out. Phone is not only about specs, cameras, numbers but it should be easy and flawless experience not only for 30 min youtube praising video. Still think it is a nice phone but have a lot of longtime experience issue.
It is not really the phone anymore on why I stay with the Iphone, but the stability and the service that I will get with Apple is what keeps me of making the Iphone the main phone.

I always say it when Samsung does something people just assume it's a gimmick without even using the phone I mean like apple is basically just a trend if you ask some people why they choose Apple some say "it's apple" some say "ally friends use it" or "celebs use it"
The processor is 40% more efficient from last year, and the Samsung display is also more power efficient for the same brightness output as last year's model. The iphones are never remotely close to Samsung flagships, buy Apple people don't care whatsoever, because owning an iPhone allows them to feel cool and accepted. Apple people deserve Apple products. Please stop with ridiculous comparisons. Samsung is much better and always has been, but I just want Apple people to continue buying Apple. I don't want Apple people infesting the Android market. I prefer them being brainwashed into actually believing their iJunk is the best. So creators should stop making videos like this trying to show Apple people how much better Samsung is. They don't know and they say they don't care, so stop trying to change their mind!

I switched from the S20 to 14 Pro because it has LiDAR and I work in 3D/AR Advertising. I want a Samsung with LIDAR so I can switch back. But no androids seem to care.

As a 10 years iphone user having switched to the s23 ultra and not looking back except to check my airtags I can relate, Nice job! But regarding the sound quality did you enable atmos on the s23 ultra before testing ? It does make a noticeable difference.
You'll eventually be back to apple. At some point. Changing back and forth is best. Or having two phones, One of each. iPhone is still iPhone. @@xShinobiXx Bad advice, you won't get the full ecosystem experience if you have both a Samsung and an iPhone. To fully enjoy using Samsung, get the buds, the tablet, the phone, the TV, and the watch. Having a Windows laptop (preferably a Samsung Galaxy book) also contributes to the ecosystem. I can say the same about Apple, like get all the other stuff and enjoy how they seamlessly work together 😍♥
Samsung has a feature in the audio settings where you can enable Dolby Atmos which allow surround sound through speakers and enables full audio customisation. This I think closes the audio gap drastically with Apple
Alex, you have helped me a lot in my last decision making. I made a comment from one of your videos regarding choosing between IP 14plus and IP13 PM for my first iOS. I went ahead with the 13PM and it did not disappoint when it comes to the purpose of why I bought it, the battery! I really do wish some features are available on IP like split screen or multi window for multi-tasking like I have on my 3-year old Android, I think that's a wasted potential of their processor. Having now both Android and iOS I couldn't really tell which is better tbh. Thanks buddy! Keep on making great contents! I'll stick around to see your channel grow!

I had a Pixel 7 and S21. Just switched first time to iPhone 13 Pro. I liked both but hate Android battery life. Let me tell you the difference between IPhone Samsung and Pixel in my opinion. Pixel 7 is smooth af for 90 hertz has the smartest features and best Main Camera. Samsung has the most features. Great for multitasking and productivity. Best Portrait Mode and Zoom. iPhone is very consistent apps are very optimized. Best Video hands down and everything like shopping or paying for the train in NYC works efficient with Apple. Only thing I don’t like Apple is no back swipe. Back button always at the top of the screen in open apps. No multitask like how does Apple not let me open two apps at once for split screen. But all phones are A/top tier phones. You have to pick you poison. What works best for you. Truthfully im keeping my IPhone 13 Pro but want a s23 as a second phone…

BUT Iphone 13 Pro/Max video quality is hands down superior to ANY smartphone and its obvious, watched loads of “fair” comparisons , not even one made me change my opinion about the video quality! Some youtubers are pointing S23 but they must be blind or lie on purpose. For features and screen S23 is by far the winner. To me Iphone only wins in design and the amazing video quality and thats the only reason I keep it as my main phone but for someone not “captive” in Apple world I strongly recommend Samsung this time.
@@cipri198zero I have the ip 14 pro max and the design is archaic. It’s super plain and does what it does. Apple is cheap when it comes to change because they don’t have to. My phone works and has great battery life. It’s the ecosystem that keeps me, I love the Apple Watch, the phone is just a phone.
I have both. Wanted to try out s23 ultra, it’s so 😮good and I love stremio ;) but iPhone is hard to give up especially when kids and mates on iMessage. Plus iPhone has really good HDR. I also prefer the Apple Watch and Apple Pay is loads better than Samsung pay. It’s a tough one but still iPhone takes the win, for me at least.
The quality of this video was quite impressive. Not only the B-role but also the effort which was put into the details, for example how he was able to make me watch the ad without thinking about skipping it and the implomentation of the camera with its squared of edges and the outlining honestly did it for me, the animations too. But android is android at the end of the day, ( im not an Apple fan boy) I have both an iPhone and android, but how long will this incredible battery stay consistent with the ultra? And speed etc. I know androids don’t age so well.

Agreed! Benchmarks mean absolutely nothing. They are synthetic and usually companies like CRapple have been caught paying to gain favor with their algo's. So, I haven't paid attention to benchmarks for many many years. I agree with sitting down next to each other and competing head to head. I've embarrassed a many a "i"idiots in this very fashion. That's what happens when you're gullible to advertising, instead of real world facts.
Great video Alex!! On the S23 Ultra, in pro video mode, you can change the microphone direction (Omni, front, and rear)! Trust me, it makes a difference that no other phone can do!

Lg V10 had this even better implemented many years ago. I miss many audio features from LG on sgs23ultra. Being able to save more than one custom eq preset is just one.
Not an apple fan, but I did hear that some variants of the newest iPhones can automatically switch the mic based on where the subject is being filmed. But, that's the difference between Apple and Samsung. I like the power of control.

S23 Ultra only has new display, not to mention ram, storage, cpu, sensor, stabilization is amazing, better speakers and sound just a mention afew! It's a new beast!!
Honestly, on the speakers, I still find that the iPhone is better. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but they just sounded a lot cleaner. The iPhone does distort the audio when you go past 80% volume.

Have my S23 Ultra for few days, and it is beast machine. I really like it. I was worried with shutter lag, but I do not feel it, especially when I turned on "take shot on press shutter" instead "take shot when shutter is released", most probably it confuses users a lot. Anyway, my hate for big devices is gone, After few days I cant write anything on iPhone mini keyboard, I will consider to sell it. Btw. Alex, I was looking for magsafe compatible case for S23U, decided go for Mous as it protekts more from side than Pitaka, I found your older discount code, but does not worked :( But was thingking of you and want to help, now I have to order some your merch :)

@@AlexGTech That option is in Camera Assistant as "quick shutter", not 100% sure in english as I using native language in my phone. It is different from "prioritize speed/quality" I just found, that Samsung will not react on press, but release shutter button as it expects gestures to take actions like quick video or burst photos. So that make it work as in iPhone and mostly any other phone, that it will take shoot at press button. You can still use gesture to take different action, but that photo will be taken too.

It is natural for some people to attempt to bash or attack anything that threatens them. It is understandable that a certain type of IPhone user or Pixel user or whatever needs to seek solace in ranting in the comments section of their favourite slanted channel, as I can't remember any Samsung phone getting such rave reviews on it's release. Ever. I was skeptical of the S23 Ultra myself. Until I bought one. It truly is a magnificent powerful machine. The video quality of the thing is incredible compared to my old Exynos S21 Ultra. I just love this device.
Sorry, the S23 ultra has far superior sound over the iPhone 14 pro max in nearly all situations. Not sure what settings you're using? Unless of course there is a problem with your phone. Anyhow great video thanks!!!

I noticed that recently Samsung phones are getting very competitive with Apple these days, and that is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger and picked up a Z4 Flip last year. I am really enjoying it - although I also use an iPhone 14 Pro at the same time, so basically the best of both worlds. I think iOS can't be beat when it comes to stability and an excellent user experience. I am happy with my setup. Great video Alex!

That’s why android is not worth it. The stability and reliability on iPhone is unchallenged. I’ve used android flagships all my life, last one was S21 ultra and it follows the same path as every other android: minor issues start showing up a year in, apps always take longer to get fixed cause it’s android, battery life degrades insanely fast for heavy users. You pay 1200€ for a phone that starts having issues, regardless how small a year in, is that worth it? I swapped to an iPhone 13PM and the phone works like day 1 after 10 months and battery is still at 30-40% at the end of the day. Not a single of the 6 android flagships I used before were this good a year in. Phone reviews made by these YT people are just bad for an everyday user. We don’t buy a new phone every single year, most people aren’t too content with dumping 1200€ into a phone yearly…. And with the phones costing 1200€, you just expect more stability and no issues for AT LEAST 2 years. No reviews on YT cover this because they never use a single phone for 2 years heavily and can’t even know. I’m seeing more and more people lately swap to iOS in Slovenia cause they’re getting fed up of what I wrote above lol
S23 Ultra is a perfect phone, but in the end it all comes down to the eco-system…I use several Apple products and it’s nearly impossible to switch to android without missing this whole system…
That's the only reason why iPhones still sell. It's like a drug, get people addicted and they'll stay. iPhones really can't quite compete anymore, non-Pro models are a bad joke and while the Pro models are fine, they're just not quite on par. Once you include how outdated iOS is nowadays with the lack of features it gets even more one-sided towards Android

@@marioqwertz9639 iOS works well, but you have no multitasking capabilities, the gesture controls aren't as good of course, it's not customisable. Those are all thing you'll quickly miss when swapping to iOS
I used to jailbreak my iphonesand iPad so I can add more apps per screen. With my S23 Ultra I just download the Good Lock app from Samsung and now I have 6 apps per row. And that's just 1 single example. I would never go back to apple.

All my smartphones so far were iPhones and now the S23 Ultra is simply the best (and i dont even like Samsung as a brand). Iam now considering to switch to the S23 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro if my phone breaks. The only option which would make me stick to iPhone is if they finally add basics like underscreen fingerprint sensor, FAST CHARING (!!!!!!!!), USB-C and start going forward (notch) not backwards.

See for me I have tried both already, I am not gonna be talking about either one of them because I actually like both. From performance, to the build quality and etc. But it really depends on the consumer wants and needs. I’ve come to realize that in long term I like simplicity of the iPhone, and like anyone it will be on the consumers wants and need. That to me is the most important thing. Use what you think you like 😊
Could you make a video about the s22 ultra with one UI 5.1? I have both the pixel 6 and s22 ultra (Exynos). Most of the time I think the pixel is actually faster and smoother. I have to choose one of the two though, which would you recommend?
Good idea! I have those two devices still. I think the Exynos at least to me felt a bit better since the recent updates but I'd agree with you, the Pixel feels smoother in comparison
Yes, I've been caught by that before. Also made sure the Spotify, Netflix and Disney+ settings were set the same way. The speakers on the iPhone is clearly better, but only if played at about 80% volume. Any higher than that it starts to distort quite a bit in my opinion. So tests out there that test the volume alone should be taken with a pinch of salt...
Wow! Finally, someone is being honest and not just a fanboi! I went from Android to Apple with a 14 PRO. Buggy and I definitely did not like it. I sent it back because of the bugs and bought the Ultra S23 in 512GB So glad I did. I also have an Ipad Pro and it's great. The phones, not so much. So thanks for an honest comparison on 2 flagship phones 😎

Great video, I'm upgrading from a Z Flip (2020) to the S23 Ultra. While I did like the flip design. It had its issues. I was able to get a good trade-in value and copped the S23!

The 23 has been such a delight to use I'm glad I held out for it. I think the iPhone is great but I'm not big into iOS and I only use Mac's in the office. I'm completely satisfied with this new phone.

I started out as an Android fanboy, but I started feeling like the Android top end phones were overrated. Battery was half gone by noon for one, so I purchased an iPhone to try and haven't looked back.
Think it’s always good to try different brands, whichever way you switched, I’m glad you found something that works for you. I’ve had iPhones since the first one and recently I’ve been more impressed by the improvements made by Android phones. The iPhone has probably peaked on the 13 release and for me Apple is “coasting” right now. Maybe the 15 will change how I see it, who knows 😊
I have also been holding out for the Samsung flagship series since the S20. Hoping to buy the 23 Ultra soon, but want to wait for the Mi 13 Ultra to come out for comparison.
Super video made me switch from iPhone 12 Pro Max to S23U. I only miss the twitter notifications on iPhone. Samsung has an issue with Twitter notifications, where popup and lockscreen notifications do not appear. It seems like an issue on One UI 5.1

I’m going in the opposite direction I’ve been using a galaxy phone for 5 years and now I’m changing to the iPhone 14 Pro. I love android and Samsung but I love to try new stuff as well. Never had used an iPhone with Face ID before, and I can tell you it’s a game changer feature to me now. It’s a pity no Android phone has this feature whatsoever it’s way more convenient. I had the S22 ultra and was debating whether to upgrade to the S23 ultra, after a couple of weeks i pulled the trigger and got the s23 ultra, im so glad i made the move. I love this phone and you can tell the big difference from the s23 and the s22 ultra.

I had Samsung s21 ultra for 18 months and before that Samsung Note 20 ultra. I noted that after 12 months the performance of both phones dipped considerably. I used iPhone 11 Pro Max for 2 years and it never stuttered , however now IPhone 14pro max video recording has severe issues. Shall I move to Samsung S23 ultra??
What issues do you see with the 14 PM video recording?
Honestly, I had those issues too even with the S22 Ultra. Zero issues on the S23 Ultra so far. In Pro modes you may experience a delay or if you turn off stabilisation, 8K can be iffy but other than that I honeslty think Samsung smashed it with this one

Well i think the problem has to be one ui having more and more features. I have a note 10+ and throughout the years it became slower and the battery life took a hit. However I rooted it to lineage os. That is a night and day difference : the performance were as good as when the phone was brand new and even faster than my ip13pro. I can say the same for battery life.
Clean the Cache in recovery. Look it up. My S21 Ultra is is super zippy. All my phones have always worked smoothly mainly because I CCR. It will save you from buying a new phone.

They do indeed! I like it in some situations, and it's easy enough to change to a cooler tone but it really surprised me how good the S23 Ultra is for video now
The speaker test would have to be done again, they should both be facing the same way. Iphone bottom firing speaker was facing towards the camera lens which enhances the sound [like when you cuff your phone in your hands and the audio sounds better and much more loud]. S23U bottom firing speaker was facing the other way [Soundwaves had nothing in close proximity to bounce off of to enhance the sound].
The microphone (it’s a professional Seinheiser MKH-050) where the sound was recorded from, was pointed at the middle of the phones. Both phones were static so really no difference.
You can just about see the mic on the left hand side of the frame, at 16:47 with blue cables.
So the camera was moving (I do that so it’s less boring with a bit of movement) but the mic and the phones were not moving.

It is on. I know they come turned off by default. Whilst it improves it, the 14 Pro Max sounds better. At ull volumen the iPhone actually distorts everything, but at about 80% volume it is very clean and has a better "presence" if you know what I mean

Yes, I had it on… I’ve managed to get it to sound a bit better by using the EQ settings but I gotta say, the iPhone does still sound better. The only time the iPhone doesn’t sound better is at 100% volume. The distortion in the iPhone is horrendous past 80-90% volume. But up to that leve it sounds great on music apps and content too. Anyway, for me it doesn’t matter too much as I’m getting rid of it. I’m downgrading it to a 13 Mini just to synch with my watch and be my second phone for apple things.

Thank you very much!! Yes, the standard colour on the iPhone is a lot warmer now. You can change it to a cooler tone but then things look a bit washed out. It's still excellent for photos and videos but I do think Samsung have caughgt up if not passed Apple in some camera options
It doesn't matter what phone u use. When possible try to keep the charge between 20-85% for better battery life.
Did you have Dolby Atmos on..? It's not on by default..And I changed the audio EQ setting from Normal to Jazz or Rock, and now it sounds so good and I think on a par with Apple 14 PRO Max..
Yes, Dolby Atmos was on. But I didn't change the EQ settings at all, so maybe that's what I need to do. The iPhone is honestly better though, I am not sure the EQ will work but will definitely give it a go as I use the phone without headphones a lot. I tried with a few different things too like watching movies on Disney, Netflix and Prime. Thank you!
I have both a 14 PM and a S23U. I love both for different reasons but the iphone remains my main device for a few reasons. iMessage, better app availability/updates/support/quality, and overall OS stability.

I haven't been impressed by a Smartphone since the Samsung Galaxy S8. From then on, I've felt that improvements are rather small and incremental. I went Backberry Pearl, Blacberry Bold, Samsung Galaxy (Original), Google Nexus, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy S8, S10+, S21 Ultra, and now S23 Ultra. From the S8 on, it's been quite incremental. Prior to this, each new generation was completely different from the one before it. Meaning massive changes.
S23 Ultra is a great device, but I haven't had that impressed feeling in a long time.
I think it’s funny that iPhone doesn’t have Astro mode but it still holds up pretty well using the night mode. The Samsung S23 Ultras Astro mode isn’t really impressive to me. I still prefer Pixel’s Astro mode. I know for sure that when Apple drops Astro mode, it’ll be insane. Hopefully that will be this year because this year Apple will introduce a “state of the art” sensor for iPhone Pro

You know what's funny as I haven't heard really anybody say anything bad about the s23 ultra speakers they say they're the best speakers so far even over the 14 pro Max so I don't know
Yes, they behjave funny sometimes when watching content, but that's mostly because I've been holding the phone and covering one of the speaker cutouts. Overall I did think the iPhone was better sounding, but at full volume the iPhone speaker gets really distorted, so yes, it;s louder on the iPhone but I'd rather have a slightly lower sound, but still clear like the S23 Ultra.

No multimedia volume control, no split screen mode, and you have to deal with a lot of thermal throttling if you do anything intensive for an extended period of time. I can't even watch RUclips while charging my Iphone 12 without it dimming the screen a lot. Never had this problem on my old Oneplus 3T. Definitely want to try a Samsung for the first time, wether it's the ultra or a he flip, both look great
Fr, apple fanboys cry that iphones have better performance after looking at the benchmarks. But the truth is, iPhones suck at running heavy apps. Watch the comparison by in depth tech reviews. The iPhone 14 pro Max, a 1500$ phones performs worse under heavy load when compared to the 700$ Google pixel 7 pro! And those apple fanboys started crying that iphones have less cores.

Yes, hope Exynos never comes back! And yes, I was already daily driving the Fold, so now the iPhone is literally only syncing with my Watch. Don't really "need" the Apple Watch Ultra but I really like it. If I could find a way of not using the iPhone for the watch, I could sell it for good...

Of course the satellite feature of the iPhone only works for Special People - for example, it won't work here in NZ. Likewise, the Pixel is not sold in NZ so that is no option at all.
I have a 13PM and I am considering the Fold 5 but would hate to lose my Apple Watch and you cannot (annoyingly) run the watch via OSX on your MBP for some reason.
However, my TV is Samsung, my connected fridge is Samsung and my washing machine/dryer are also Samsung. Only my MBP and AW are Apple. So I am unsure which universe to live in with my phone!

Don't be afraid. For me, Android is life! I was a long time iOS user and switched years ago, and no regrets so far. I tried using an iPhone again months ago, specifically the iPhone13 Pro Max and honestly it didn't work. The amount of things you lose is too much compared to what you gain using an S23 Ultra. I know several colleagues who "work" as influencers, and some of them migrated to S23 because of multi-tasking, which doesn't exist (sic) until today on iOS. They can edit a video while downloading something, or edit appointments in their calendar. And as some videos have already proven, the 14 Pro Max suffers from overheating, losing performance over time. I have the money to buy the latest iPhone model, without depending on any sponsorships, but the things I lose with iOS is too big compared to what I gain. I need to record my calls and no iOS allows it. As well as writing down and signing documents, where SPen makes all the difference. But, I understand that by custom, or just by status, some prefer iPhone.

It is always the case on a new cycle of phones, this time 2023, that the first one out, usually Samsung, gets loads of hype. Of course, all 2023 phones will get the same chip, better cameras and some even new designs, and in six months times, the excitement for the S23U will just be noise.
There is no doubt that as a new year rises then we expect a new and shiny phone and the S23U fills the space. Personally, I have been unimpressed, the cameras look like a work in progress and the better battery and performance will be matched by ten or more flagships in due course. I do not use the s-pen and shooting the moon is not my thing, so the S23U at £1400 is maybe too expensive for what I use; as I remember the top Samsung being £800, and that was not so long ago.
Is it better than the iPhone 15 Pro Max (Ultra), well we await Apple's 2023 try, but I suspect that switching back to the iPhone will never be easier for those in the ecosystem, and those that live with Android then lots of great choices. My favs are likely the VIVO X90 Pro+, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the OPPO Find X6 Pro, the Magic 5 Pro, the Fold5, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, OnePlus Fold, Huawei P60 Pro...

Been thinking about switching just because Samsungs file system is so great. Basically pc grade file system.
There’s so much you can do with Samsung devices now. If it’s easy to switch without breaking the ecosystem, too much right now, it’s probably the best time to do it.

Have both phones in my hand since 14 days IP 14 pro max and S 23 ultra so can see differences in live case scenarios.
Ok, so speedy and smooth s23 ultra feeling. Hmm not always as said it is inco nsistent. Make messenger video call and minimise messenger so you can only see camera, meanwhile run and close apps like browser, FB etc - animations stutter, no longer smooth.
Photos? Camera killer? It is a joke. This phone cannot make decent photo in the kitchen with lights on, what you can see easily if you make a pic of person and see their hands for example. Samsung either blures hands or tries to sharpen some part of the picture. In same scenario iphone makes more natural pictures.
Night photos? Zoom? It is another joke. Maybe if you do static pic from tripod but in life case scenario you want do normal photo at night is if quite bad when iphone makes better pics out of the pocket without tweeking anything.
Operating system has 62GB! And my android account is fresh new without any apps I created fresh account. This is unacceptable.
Keyboard feels like there is a small delay and more often I make mistakes on s 23 ultra especially on RUclips comments it feels like response time is really bad.
That's the things you will notice on daily basis and not like on youtube channels showing only how pic are great 😅
This is not a bad phone but optimization is nowhere near to iphone even if samsung has powerfull specs.
Worth to mention is security. How is this possible that I go to samsung menu and go to themes and go to download one. Me thinking, OK this is inside the phone Samsung must have power over this and I will connect to Samsung server to safe fully download new theme. I was surprised when I wanted to download one and below rating and people comments were saying it is a virus! How samsung can let this crap on their own inside system? I am not talking about Google store but actual samsung menu!

To add, I am using s23 ultra on daily basis now just to see how it goes not to only follow those biased youtube videos.
It happened already few times I was able to crash/freeze messenger chat window. I could not write, do any action even could not use gesture bottom bar to exit! Had to reboot. If that happens once, OK maybe happend but it happens around 5 tines now in two weeks. Similar thing happening inside FB app. It can freeze inside the post or market place, you can still navigate inside this post but cannot go out.
Phone is not only about specs, cameras, numbers but it should be easy and flawless experience not only for 30 min youtube praising video.
Still think it is a nice phone but have a lot of longtime experience issue.

It is not really the phone anymore on why I stay with the Iphone, but the stability and the service that I will get with Apple is what keeps me of making the Iphone the main phone.

The processor is 40% more efficient from last year, and the Samsung display is also more power efficient for the same brightness output as last year's model. The iphones are never remotely close to Samsung flagships, buy Apple people don't care whatsoever, because owning an iPhone allows them to feel cool and accepted. Apple people deserve Apple products. Please stop with ridiculous comparisons. Samsung is much better and always has been, but I just want Apple people to continue buying Apple. I don't want Apple people infesting the Android market. To fully enjoy using Samsung, get the buds, the tablet, the phone, the TV, and the watch. Having a Windows laptop (preferably a Samsung Galaxy book) also contributes to the ecosystem. I can say the same about Apple, like get all the other stuff and enjoy how they seamlessly work together 😍♥
Samsung has a feature in the audio settings where you can enable Dolby Atmos which allow surround sound through speakers and enables full audio customisation. This I think closes the audio gap drastically with Apple
Alex, you have helped me a lot in my last decision making. I made a comment from one of your videos regarding choosing between IP 14plus and IP13 PM for my first iOS. I went ahead with the 13PM and it did not disappoint when it comes to the purpose of why I bought it, the battery! I really do wish some features are available on IP like split screen or multi window for multi-tasking like I have on my 3-year old Android, I think that's a wasted potential of their processor. I had a Pixel 7 and S21. Just switched first time to iPhone 13 Pro. I liked both but hate Android battery life. Let me tell you the difference between IPhone Samsung and Pixel in my opinion. Pixel 7 is smooth af for 90 hertz has the smartest features and best Main Camera. Samsung has the most features. Great for multitasking and productivity. Best Portrait Mode and Zoom. iPhone is very consistent apps are very optimized. Best Video hands down and everything like shopping or paying for the train in NYC works efficient with Apple. Only thing I don’t like Apple is no back swipe. Back button always at the top of the screen in open apps. No multitask like how does Apple not let me open two apps at once for split screen. But all phones are A/top tier phones. You have to pick you poison. What works best for you. Truthfully im keeping my IPhone 13 Pro but want a s23 as a second phone…

BUT Iphone 13 Pro/Max video quality is hands down superior to ANY smartphone and its obvious, watched loads of “fair” comparisons , not even one made me change my opinion about the video quality! Some youtubers are pointing S23 but they must be blind or lie on purpose. For features and screen S23 is by far the winner. To me Iphone only wins in design and the amazing video quality and thats the only reason I keep it as my main phone but for someone not “captive” in Apple world I strongly recommend Samsung this time.

My phone works and has great battery life. It’s the ecosystem that keeps me, I love the Apple Watch, the phone is just a phone.
I have both. Wanted to try out s23 ultra, it’s so 😮good and I love stremio ;) but iPhone is hard to give up especially when kids and mates on iMessage. Plus iPhone has really good HDR. I also prefer the Apple Watch and Apple Pay is loads better than Samsung pay. It’s a tough one but still iPhone takes the win, for me at least.
The quality of this video was quite impressive. Not only the B-role but also the effort which was put into the details, for example how he was able to make me watch the ad without thinking about skipping it and the implomentation of the camera with its squared of edges and the outlining honestly did it for me, the animations too. Agreed! Benchmarks mean absolutely nothing. They are synthetic and usually companies like CRapple have been caught paying to gain favor with their algo's. So, I haven't paid attention to benchmarks for many many years. I agree with sitting down next to each other and competing head to head. I've embarrassed a many a "i"idiots in this very fashion. That's what happens when you're gullible to advertising, instead of real world facts.

Great video Alex!! On the S23 Ultra, in pro video mode, you can change the microphone direction (Omni, front, and rear)! Trust me, it makes a difference that no other phone can do!

Lg V10 had this even better implemented many years ago. I miss many audio features from LG on sgs23ultra. Being able to save more than one custom eq preset is just one.
Not an apple fan, but I did hear that some variants of the newest iPhones can automatically switch the mic based on where the subject is being filmed. But, that's the difference between Apple and Samsung. I like the power of control.
Battery is superb in S23… but after using Samsung I started loving iPhone due to its simplicity… so switched back to iPhone .. 😊

Honestly, on the speakers, I still find that the iPhone is better. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but they just sounded a lot cleaner. The iPhone does distort the audio when you go past 80% volume.

Have my S23 Ultra for few days, and it is beast machine. I really like it. I was worried with shutter lag, but I do not feel it, especially when I turned on "take shot on press shutter" instead "take shot when shutter is released", most probably it confuses users a lot.
Anyway, my hate for big devices is gone, After few days I cant write anything on iPhone mini keyboard, I will consider to sell it.

@@AlexGTech That option is in Camera Assistant as "quick shutter", not 100% sure in english as I using native language in my phone. It is different from "prioritize speed/quality"
I just found, that Samsung will not react on press, but release shutter button as it expects gestures to take actions like quick video or burst photos. So that make it work as in iPhone and mostly any other phone, that it will take shoot at press button. You can still use gesture to take different action, but that photo will be taken too.

It is natural for some people to attempt to bash or attack anything that threatens them. It is understandable that a certain type of IPhone user or Pixel user or whatever needs to seek solace in ranting in the comments section of their favourite slanted channel, as I can't remember any Samsung phone getting such rave reviews on it's release. Ever. I was skeptical of the S23 Ultra myself. Until I bought one. It truly is a magnificent powerful machine. The video quality of the thing is incredible compared to my old Exynos S21 Ultra. the S22 and the S23 Ultras have completely redesigned the idea of what a phone is. it is truly a multi-purpose device never seen before. I have the S22 Ultra and I have to say, its as if I've gone back in time with the first ever smart phone.
Note 20 Ultra was the first actual smart phone IMO

I noticed that recently Samsung phones are getting very competitive with Apple these days, and that is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger and picked up a Z4 Flip last year. I am really enjoying it - although I also use an iPhone 14 Pro at the same time, so basically the best of both worlds. I think iOS can't be beat when it comes to stability and an excellent user experience. I am happy with my setup.

That’s why android is not worth it. The stability and reliability on iPhone is unchallenged. I’ve used android flagships all my life, last one was S21 ultra and it follows the same path as every other android: minor issues start showing up a year in, apps always take longer to get fixed cause it’s android, battery life degrades insanely fast for heavy users. You pay 1200€ for a phone that starts having issues, regardless how small a year in, is that worth it? I swapped to an iPhone 13PM and the phone works like day 1 after 10 months and battery is still at 30-40% at the end of the day. Not a single of the 6 android flagships I used before were this good a year in.
Phone reviews made by these YT people are just bad for an everyday user. We don’t buy a new phone every single year, most people aren’t too content with dumping 1200€ into a phone yearly…. And with the phones costing 1200€, you just expect more stability and no issues for AT LEAST 2 years. No reviews on YT cover this because they never use a single phone for 2 years heavily and can’t even know.

I switched in 2021 to Galaxy S21, best tech decision ever, i really think CrApple sicks!
S23 Ultra is a perfect phone, but in the end it all comes down to the eco-system…I use several Apple products and it’s nearly impossible to switch to android without missing this whole system…

That's the only reason why iPhones still sell. It's like a drug, get people addicted and they'll stay. iPhones really can't quite compete anymore, non-Pro models are a bad joke and while the Pro models are fine, they're just not quite on par. Once you include how outdated iOS is nowadays with the lack of features it gets even more one-sided towards Android
@@xPandamon You‘re right in every point…except the eco-system, it works flawless and none of the other brands can compete in this area…I had the Galaxy Ultra s23 and it was literally the best phone I’ve ever had, but I returned it after 14 days because I also have the Apple Watch Ultra, IPad, Apple TV etc. and I missed these things 🤦🏻 Apple is like a Sect…once you‘re in, there’s no way out…
@@marioqwertz9639 iOS works well, but you have no multitasking capabilities, the gesture controls aren't as good of course, it's not customisable. Those are all thing you'll quickly miss when swapping to iOS
I used to jailbreak my iphonesand iPad so I can add more apps per screen. With my S23 Ultra I just download the Good Lock app from Samsung and now I have 6 apps per row. And that's just 1 single example. I would never go back to apple.

I switched from 14 Pro max to 23 ultra & its a great phone
All my smartphones so far were iPhones and now the S23 Ultra is simply the best (and i dont even like Samsung as a brand). Iam now considering to switch to the S23 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro if my phone breaks.
The only option which would make me stick to iPhone is if they finally add basics like underscreen fingerprint sensor, FAST CHARING (!!!!!!!!), USB-C and start going forward (notch) not backwards.

@@AlexGTech hahaha that’s hilarious!!!! I was really debating on trying the s23 ultra because I wanted to be able to take the moon shots but ultimately stayed with apple. This is my first apple phone since I had the 4s for a short time.
See for me I have tried both already, I am not gonna be talking about either one of them because I actually like both. From performance, to the build quality and etc. But it really depends on the consumer wants and needs. I’ve come to realize that in long term I like simplicity of the iPhone, and like anyone it will be on the consumers wants and need. That to me is the most important thing. Use what you think you like 😊
Could you make a video about the s22 ultra with one UI 5.1? I have both the pixel 6 and s22 ultra (Exynos). Most of the time I think the pixel is actually faster and smoother.
I have to choose one of the two though, which would you recommend?
Good idea! I have those two devices still. I think the Exynos at least to me felt a bit better since the recent updates but I'd agree with you, the Pixel feels smoother in comparison
17:18 did you enable Dolby Atmos on the S23U? It's weird Samsung doesn't enable it by default.
Yes, I've been caught by that before. Also made sure the Spotify, Netflix and Disney+ settings were set the same way. The speakers on the iPhone is clearly better, but only if played at about 80% volume. Any higher than that it starts to distort quite a bit in my opinion. So tests out there that test the volume alone should be taken with a pinch of salt...
Wow! Finally, someone is being honest and not just a fanboi! I went from Android to Apple with a 14 PRO. Buggy and I definitely did not like it. I sent it back because of the bugs and bought the Ultra S23 in 512GB So glad I did. I also have an Ipad Pro and it's great. The phones, not so much. So thanks for an honest comparison on 2 flagship phones 😎
