It does make sense. Like for me, i’m not sure if I like The Selection series and even America Singer or not. Most of the time I don’t like it, but I enjoyed reading it cause it’s just really entertaining.
I felt the same. I don’t like the plot, characters, the writing, but it was really entertaining. It’s kinda how I feel about the selection series.

I'm a guy and I read The Twilight Saga last year in 6th grade. Right now I'm reading Life and Death. I get made fun of a lot for liking twilight.
Dude, I've read twilight as well. No one gives a shit when you get older. Plus the series wasn't too bad.

My Twilight days have come and gone. But like Christine said, the Twilight series was what got me hooked back on reading. I may not be into it anymore, but I'll always be grateful that it saved me and gave me that push to start reading again.

I was expecting to see the divergent trilogy
2nd and 3rd book were not as good as the first

Red_Queen_of_Shadow-Hunters And_Crows it was good but not as good as the first.
***** I don't really mind slow books...but the fact that the plot in Insurgent is more complex is part of why I loved it so much. And it really another side of Tris in the way Tris was experiencing PTSD etc. I also really think that the whole book, well the whole trilogy really conveys a really good message not just in the importance of family but also what sacrifice really means and a lot of other things...
I think the reason why people didn't like Allegiant was that it wasn't as action-packed as Divergent or whatever and I get that but the book really (as I said) conveys a message that's really moving in a way...
And yeah, that plot twist at the end if Divergent was fantastic.
The cliffhanger at the end of Insurgent left me reeling and flailing all over the place.
The end of Allegiant left me drowning in my own tears...
And what more could I ask for? That's all I want from books, to feel. Not fantastic mind blowing plots, or heart pounding action, as long as a book makes me feel feelings then it certainly did its job.

Sutherland Isabelle I didn't really like it until book 3. Then I got seriously hooked. Just stick it out. You won't regret it, I promise.
*WE DEMIGODS RECOMMEND.* You should really read Percy Jackson. Then you can either read Heroes of Olympus after that or the Kane Chronicles but I read Heroes of Olympus before Kane Chronicles. Kane Chronicles had a reference to Heroes of Olympus because they took place at the same time. Then after that you can either read Trials of Apollo or Magnus Chase. I read Trials of Apollo first though, and I'm on Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor. Good luck on your journey of a lifetime and Rick trolling you by making the biggest cliffhangers ever mi amigo.
I read the first 200 pages or so of the first volume, but I couldn't get into it. I didn't care much for the characters and the humor was very forced for me. Which I really do not like. :)

I've read more YA than most kids my age (i think) and I'm really liking it. (Including Hunger Games, Divergent, The Lunar Chronicles and I'm planning to read more after I finish the Percy Jackson books) The only thing I'm worried about is not experiencing the books in the best possible way since I might not really be able to relate. But, and this is regarding Izzy Bonito's comment, I'm not really interested in contemporary, more so fantasy so I'm hoping it won't be a problem. BTW, I'm 11 years old.

I agree with you. I love Cassandra Clare's books, and they are the best books ever written. Both Infernal Devices, and Mortal Instruments. The first Dark Artifacts book (sequel to Mortal Instruments) comes out on March 8, 2016. I AM SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! She knows how to wrap up a good book series!!!

So I was in a bad reading slump that has been heavily going on since May of last year. I was having a lot of trouble, and I have a copy of Throne of Glass. So I took the risk of maybe sinking me deeper into the slump but it surprisingly saved my reading life! I started TOG in late January and I'm reading Heir of Fire right now. Seriously thank you Christine I bought TOG because of you!

so you cant read the infernal devices if you havent read the mortal instruments complete series?? because I've only read city of bones but honestly I didnt like it that much, and i'm intriged about the infernal devices because its set in the past wich I find a lot more interesting so.. can anyone tell me if its a good idea to get into the series whithout reading the mortal instruments??

What i've been told is you can read TMI up until BOOK 3, then you NEED TO HAVE FINISHED TID before reading BOOK 4 - i just finished TID 2 days ago and i am a wreck and a half

I NEED HELP! Okay so I started the tmi series and currently I'm at City of Lost Souls. And I thought the shadowhunter chronicles were just a spinoff I could read after tmi to continue my obsession. Now I'm kinda sad bc I'd love to read this wieving together you talked about but I'm already through with city of glass. SHOULD I STOP TMI AFTER THE 5. BOOK AND READ THE SHADOWHUNTER CHRONICLES BEFORE CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE? Or should I finish the Series and start the other one after that?
If you want the best experience, finish City of List Souls and then read The Infernal Devices. City of Heavenly Fire spoils The Infernal Devices, and City of Heavenly Fire is where the most weaving of the story lines take place.

Percy Jackson is one of my favorite character's of all time and I haven't read the last book in the Heroes of Olympus series because so many of my friends have said that it's a letdown so don't feel bad about not liking that book. From what i've heard the amount of hype outshines the book. Apparently it was a good book but there was far too much hype and it coudn't live up to the hype.
I remember watching this video 3 years ago and not knowing half of the series in the top 10. So glad that I came here after watching the favorite stand-alone video because I know and love all these series now. :)

Skulduggery Pleasant is perfection. Everyone needs to read it. EVERYONE. It's about this girl called Stephanie who inherits her uncle's fortune after he dies (much to the outrage of her aunt Beryl and Uncle Fergus, and to the bemusement of everyone else) then she gets attacked in her home and is rescued by a mysterious man. During this, she discovers that magic is real. She then apprentices under the man, Skulduggery Pleasant, a four-hundred year-old dapper, snarky skeleton detective. The comedy is perfect, the horror is just the right level of creepy, Landy fucks with your emotions and sanity.
Bartimaeus also needs to be read. It's a series about a snarky djinni who's summoned by a boy to steal a powerful amulet, thus begins their relationship. It explores the themes of slavery, morality, isolation, dehumanisation, class, oppression, the corruption of power, and what love really is, all while being absolutely hilarious.
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini is quickly becoming a favourite, but I can't judge it until I've read the ending and I'm only about a quarter of the way through book three, Brisingr.

I didnt rank them just wrote them down but im pretty impressed I got 8 out of the 12 you mentioned! But also i have been watching since roughly 2012/2013 and i was 100% expecting to see divergent on this list
