    The door closing sounds bring so much nostalgia for me. Good ol MTR. Wish we had something similar in the States

    7:21 people are still standing right in front of the train door 🤦 Should stand at the side of the door.

    I hope this service is in Campbelltown one day. I’m vision impaired, so I like the fact the announcements tell you which side the doors will open, unlike the normal trains announcements. I can usually tell which side the doors will open, but it would be nice to hear the announcement too.

    Genuine question, why only 100kph the track is pretty straight on the longer sections like Sydenham to Waterloo and Crows nest to Chatswood for seems no reason to not go 120 or 140…?

    • @Voyagerthe2nd
      @Voyagerthe2nd  2 месяца назад +9

      One argument can be that the extra speed will result in at least a 44% increase in energy consumption at 120 as opposed to 100km/h. For a 5 minute trip, there is practically no time saving increasing the speed

    • @poino11
      @poino11 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Voyagerthe2nd with this argument could we lower speeds to 80km/h to allow for greater energy savings?.........

      @@poino11 you don’t want to be too slow either

      @@Voyagerthe2ndcorrect, the biggest time savings are by increasing your lowest speeds by minimising curves. You also have increased maintenance costs and wear and tear by running higher speeds, a bumper rude. Finally, the train itself tend to be standardised and may require redesign to achieve higher speeds. Finally, the higher the speeds you go the less time you actually spend at that speed given the frequent stops and curves.

      At Lithgow there are dozens of D sets gathering dust. They should be in service now. I am told they won't be in service on the Blue Mountains line until late 2025 or early 2026. Many of the carriages arrived in 2019. Doesn't make sense, except to a Luddite.
